It doesn't matter whether Arjun actually went through with it or not, the fact that they showed something like that was regressive and distasteful as you said.

It was anything else but not RAPE. Period.

Please read my earlier post, I never said radhika was raped , but the fact of how regressive the entire thing was and how wrong it was of radhika to call arjun a good man just because he didn't go through with the plan.

@bold: Yes.

Arjun is a fictional character. We know that he is in love with Radhika, so we can argue about his intentions here, but when you have teenagers watching the show I am not sure if they understand the seriousness of the consent (through blackmail) especially when Radhika is unaware of his intentions or feelings.

I've a friend, who slept with her boyfriend, and the next day the guy dumped her. It sounds horrible, but she went through it, as she loved the guy, and he blackmailed her into it when she was 17. Obviously she had no idea he would dump her later.

Reality is different from the fictional world. Sometimes reality is wonderful, but at other times it really isn't. The creatives have gone wrong with Arjun's mind games, and the manner in which he gives Radhika the ultimatum. All of it works in the fictional world, but realistically it is not always "happily ever after". Some teenagers understand the seriousness of the situation, but others really don't. They think it is romantic and sweet.

True. You put it well. I don't watch the show, one of my family members does, so I know what's going on. I think the show started off well but then it just went the familiar route of contrived plots and an unrealistic marriage. Didn't feel like commenting then, because I know that I'd be be virtually mobbed here because of my opinions or reported to oblivion by fans. But the moment I saw that the show had stooped to such low levels, I could not help myself from posting.

@ARK: Arjun tried to do the same to Samaira earlier as well when he asked her for a date in exchange of giving her the house on rent. He wanted to claim her in the name of Boyfriend Dharm that day but his plan was ruined due to Rads and Neil. He was shown as a jerk and playboy since that time.

However, in this case Radhika was aware of what she is doing. Arjun might have left her after that or not but here she is married and hence your example doesn't stand true here. In any case, a married couple is assumed to have consummated their relationship no matter whether they divorce after that or not.

I agree that the scene and the excuse of Patni Dharm was ridiculous and distasteful as well. It's good that it dint happen though.

@bold: Yes.

But their case is different. Their marriage is not normal. Had it been an arranged or love marriage I wouldn't have criticized him at all. With arranged or love marriage both sides expect it to last.
In this case they have been talking about divorce, so why talk about husband and husband's rights?

Going through this entire thread I dont find anything wrong. Its not giving any wrong message and its stupid to find any social message in Indian daily soaps.
If one is not ready for physical relation then dont even think about marriage. Option of divorce was available too. What is wrong in it?

Seriously, have our standards of a human with good morals fallen so low? That he's/she's considered a great person for not raping their partners! It's almost as if the wife should be thankful to her husband's mercy-that he did not rape her! 🤢.

Yes.. like he had every right every opportunity and all power to do it yet he didnt.. what a great human being 😭 ... which means had he done it he was a normal human.. 🥱

Exactly! It's disgusting. The level to which they fell just to grab a few eyeballs to their 'romance' 🤢 Didn't expect this from the production house who had Draupadi in their previous show.
