Racism or bigotry with a side of ignorance? I think it all stems from colonialism. The fair, genteel ladies would sit and have tea while the women working for them, native, hardworking would be working in the fields, gaining a darker colour and unfairly compared. I saw a film once where a white man insulted a black man. Karma came through made the white man black and he saw first hand what racism is and how he had contributed to it. I want Dadi to suffer the same thing! 😈 😆

It is both racism & bigotry.😆 Dadi is a HITLER of Birla House.

@bold: I wish that happens to Dadi & her beloved grand-daughter in-laws i.e Regs & Menka.

I really don't understand this whole thing about being "dark". I am an Indian that lives in America, and I am tanned skin complexion. I am not fair, nor am I dark, but never had I ever faced such an issue about not being fair. I know it's a big deal in some parts of India, but when I went last year, there was no discrimination between skin color.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all my favorites are kind of on the tanner side: Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji -- these girls are all so gorgeous! And Suhani (as well as Rajshri), is so beautiful! Her normal complexion is pretty and her features are absolutely beautiful. ❤️

Kajol is also dark but she is good looking.

Yes & there are so many blacks who won the beauty contest in real life. Kajol has got a good facecut & has sharp features though she is dark.

On the other hand, Sridevi is fair but her features are dull. Her nose was awful & she had to undergo a plastic surgery to set it right.

oh god sri devi nose went worse and if anything her new nose makes her old nose looks awesome that new nose is a poster for a butchered plastic surgery advert and why 1 shouldn't ever think of doing it lol. But i dnt remem her old nose bt it got to be better than this 1 lol.

I think that this sort of racism exists all over the world and in india it seems to be quite bad. But there are different levels of it my 1 white friend jokingly told me once i am the darkest indian she knows and before that i was always told i was quite fair so i was quite shocked and thought am i dark or fair i am just tanned why is this person telling me i am dark lol. And then when i watched these indian shows i was highly confused again and thought these people where smoking something coz i couldn't understand why these girls were being called black or being mocked because i didnt see them as being black I live in south africa so I know the difference between some1 who is dusky looking and some1 who is actually black. But then because of the recent xenaphobic attacks that happened in my country i realised that even in black that there is a different levels to blackness because these foreigners being the same colour as the blacks in my country and i didnt knw how SA africans who were attacking the foreigners would know the difference btw them and SA blacks and my mom said that foreigners have a darker skin tone then a normal black thats hw u know the difference and i am not generalizing, coz i am sure that there are fair Africans in other countrys but this was some what true and because i see a lot of foreigners on a daily basis I can now spot who is a foreigner black to a normal one before they can even speak. So it is something that exists there is no use hiding it and pretending that it doesnt exist but the mentality of the writers of this show have got their concept wrong. And especially their personality versus beauty theme. Most woman , most mother cooks, cleans, takes care of her family and her loved ones and one does not feel that she is a maid but its only on tv were we view these girls as maids. We watch other tv shows there too we see the same thing that we see in suhani but there is a major difference in no way do we view these characters as cooking, cleaning and caring as one were they are compensating for their lack of good looks we just think they normal mahaan maids lol. But in suhani we view suhani as doing all these things because she is dark and therefore feels the need to be nice to others and do these things to win people over. The fact that suhani is supposed to be a confident girl and we view her like this is very bad cvs u messed up big time suck f lol. The cvs wanted to make a normal mahaan character but the thing is that they have focused/ zeroed in on something which is a negative and that other leads do not have and that is the complexion of her skin colour. I watched bits and pieces of Bidaai online coz i only got star plus in 2010 and by that time bidaai was ending. Bt when i watched the scenes even though i skipped most and just watched ragvir whatever i did watch i didnt get the impression that ragini was a maid and was compensating being the perfect bahu by being in the kitchen. And Ragini was highly mocked and ridiculed for the color of her skin by outsiders bt she had just as much confidence in herself as suhani supposedly had. Ragini was treated like a normal girl in the show but that may have been because she had negative traits as well and wasn't the mahaan bahu. As for your kajol comparison i love her she is my fav i dnt get this comment about her dark looks as well. I dnt think she is as fair as a karishma for instance but i never thought about her as dark as well. I always thought that karishma was stunning coz she had nice hair, a pretty face, nice clothes and the icing was her complexion bt i didnt like her that much. And it was only when i came online onto IF and starting watching indian shows on tv did i realize that oh Kajol is dark and its a major accomplishment that a person of her color to have made it. I just thought it was a major accomplishment that her not having a size zero figure, not having good hair and nice clothes she still made it as a superstar was a major accomplishment that looks don't matter much but what matters most is a persons talent. Your title is perfect this is what this show is, racist in laws, racist male lead and they went wrong with how they were projecting a mahaan lead. But me and my cousin found this show crazy coz we both scream when watching suhani aint dark lol. But unfortunately the writers of this show they not visionaries they just basic, ordinary writers who are heavily flawed they will not be able to show u something truly amazing and unique with this concept or change a persons views with it. It will always be suhani is secretly compensating for being dark.
