Hi,

I haven't posted for a while cos nothing has excited these fingers till now...

MAM so far has been deliciously interesting to watch...

I will like to start with SHIVAM

SHIVAM : Less is more

The actor that portrays this character emotes well. I must say the character is nicely scripted. SHIVAM does not seem to talk too much but gets the job done. The actor portrays his love for RIYA well with his dreamy eyes and lopsided smile.

This was depicted in the garland exchange ceremony; he looked at his bride and sort of told her with his eyes and slight lopsided smile " I will lay the world at your feet".

A combination of near tear in his eyes and the slight way he shifts his lips to the side seems to tell us all he is thinking.

I loved the fact that SHIVAM and his bride both bowed down to themselves during the garland exchange. That to me was a sign of mutual respect for each other. Less is more here as talkative men just come across as annoying and irritational.

Creative of sphere productions should take note not to ruin the character with irrational plots!

RAGHAV: Stern and pious

So many on this forum have criticized this character. Some have said the actor made a mistake taking up this project. I beg to differ here.

I think the character is a nice one albeit strange. He loves his wife and children dearly.

The character is pious, responsible and upstanding and has chosen to see his kids this way as well. The character is stern and ensures to discipline his kids with the hope that they turn out into responsible civilized members of the society.

There are some parents that treat their kids as mates and friends while some chastise their kids to seek the right path. This character falls into the latter stage. He wants what is best for his kids only if they are on the right path. His love for his family was well depicted when he looked into his son's eyes and seem to ask him all these questions:

ARE YOU READY TO BE RESPONSIBLE?

ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH ?

IS HER HAND YOURS TO CLAIM ?

DO YOU SINCERELY LOVE HER?

AND he seems to see the truth in his son's eyes. There and there, he already took the decision to get SHIVAM and RIYA married but because his mother is the eldest in the family, defaulted to her and put her on the spot to put a YES stamp on his decision.

SHANTI DEVI: evil impersonified

Some have argued that she is good but just stern. I beg to differ again.

SHANTI is evil through and through. She has no love for other children other than her own. She hates her DIL and SIL, barely tolerates her own grandchildren from Raghav as there are an extension of KHUSIYA (wrong spelling, pls forgive me).

She was never the person that said yes to the wedding. Her son put her on the spot...

Since she still wants her opinion to count and mean something to the son, she had to act reasonable and pious ...so said yes. In a way, that was a way of her still keeping control of the son. She knew the right thing to say was yes, as the son and the world were watching her, so she had to concede and say yes.

PARI: Mischievous & cunning wrench

Loving this deliciously evil character. Note to creatives, do not change this character at all.I am looking forward to a pregnancy out of wedlock where her mother struggles to conceal it from society, marrying her off to a comical street milk vendor.

All in all MAM serves as a very interesting mix of good , bad and ugly all rolled up in a delicious mix.

There is enough material here to last us months to come.

*Let's watch SARLA reveal about the whole wedding shenanigans...

I for one was happy that her truth was not exposed during the wedding and she milked it to the core...

It makes it all so juicy and incriminating when she is finally revealed as the culprit that caused the whole confusion at the wedding, a lot of ways to reveal that (the kidnappers met her at the wedding venue, there may be cameras, who knows)

*Lets watch drama between RANI, SARLA & PARI at railway colony...

*Let's see how SARLA & AMIT (he's adorable by the way) rains on SHIVAM AND RIYA's parade in way of revenge.

*Let's see NIMMI (She looks like a Young KAREENA KAPOOR to me) become a successful fashion designer to be envied by SARLA & the baddies, I think she deserves this...

*Let's see PREETI getting hitched to a well deserving boy as shy as she is

*Let's see SHIVAM achieving success with RIYA by his side...(very important if STAR PLUS is going to keep with it's motto of being a positive influence on the society), Lets see SHIVAM actually become great, buying a house, seeing a shift to the wedding hall which is actually the old EBP IPKKND house (Sphere production: did you think we would not notice).

*Lastly, let's see SHIVAM & RIYA blossoming romance: lets see romance played out in subtle yet unique ways (D SHIVAM WAY), tiffs, love fights, make ups, trust building and how these lovers deal with life around them. Unlike most Indian scriptwriters that suddenly develop writer's block after a couple gets hitched, I seem to think there is a lot of material to write about after a couple gets married.

Pls Let's not see

Plots with lookalikes (Indian scriptwriters are fond of this)

Memory loss tracks (Even if its going to happen, keep it to a minimum, pls)

Sarla and the baddies suddenly getting away with their sins and not receiving their comeuppance just because STAR PLUS is tanking the show (for no reason at all) and the show has to end in 2 weeks (GWAD, NOOO!!!).

To conclude, MAM is a dirty wicked delicious drama of interpersonal relationships and am loving it. I must commend sphere productions here, they seem to have a history of showcasing Indian wedding culture well, and it was very nice to watch. If their costume executive could just stop giving the grooms orange to wear, it would have been fabulous. What happened to royal blue? (Just me).

This drama gets an A + from me. Success surely will lay in keeping the plots realistic as much as possible even though it is an Indian serial.

Thank you!
