I think the CVs watched some desi masala movies back to back and decided they were done with showing soppy stuff. The episode was drama on steroids. For all the dragging they did with Mantu and Amaya's story, they seriously seem to have launched Rachita and Rama's love story with a sling shot.
The audio was out for the first part of the episode for me so I could not hear more of Rama's mom's rant but I figured that if Amaya Madam stepped in, she must have said something about Rishi Mathur. It seemed everyone was given a turn to try to deal with Rama's mom. Be it Dinesh, Dimple, Kripa bhaiyya. Rachita, Amaya, GC, Pushpa and the most hilarious of all, Kaushalya.
Kaushalya was so upset that Rama's mom broke her achar ki bharani, she pushed Rudra aside to have a face off with Rama's mom of her own. The playing field between them was level because of all the people gathered there, only Kaushalya had the kind of dehatipan that was needed to deal with Rama's mom. I think Rama's mom knew that too which is why she threw her sickle away and instead launched into a slap fest with Kaushalya. The women then gave up any pretense whatsoever of being refined and indulged in a cat fight involving pulling each others' hair that was (intentionally or unintentionally) hilarious to watch. I have witnessed quite a few cat fights growing up in India but not a physical one, except for in an Ekta show that I watched many years ago - that one was insane in its violent nature. Anyways, coming back to the show, the fight breaks up and Rama's mom insults GC some more and delivers her punch dialogue about cutting off all their heads and coloring the walls of the haveli with their blood if any of them came anywhere near her son again before leaving in a huff.
Two things: the lady who plays Rama's mom was awesome. Because after all this thandav, as she leaves, just for a moment, she has that expression of a hurt, desperate mother on her face. She probably feels even more responsible for protecting Rama because she knows there are limitations to how much Rama's dad can do.
The second thing that stood out to me is when Rama's mom tells Dimple that she should keep her daughter away from these Mathur girls or they'll turn her characterless too just like them. I sense a spark igniting in Dimple somewhere and I don't like it. I've liked Dimple's character so far. She seems so nice and affable but then, later, as Sneha sits distraught and worried about what happened, Dimple comes in and whether deliberate or not, taunts Sneha and says that no one has dared to ever talk to GC in a loud voice till date and this woman came in insulted him so bad. Pushpa is quick to chide her and ask, "Couldn't you have kept quiet?" and Dimple responds, "What did I say?" Is this the start of friction between Dimple and the Mathurs? I'm not liking that idea one bit. Because as modern as Dimple claims she is, she is still a mother of a daughter in a city like Banaras.
On the other hand, Mantu is trying to give his gyaan about city bred girls and painful love to a recuperating Rama. Rama asks him when he gained such deep insight into the workings of love but Mantu brushes it off. Rama had a rather simple, a tad bit unconvincing argument as to why he did not hit Rudra back. Rama explains to Mantu that since he would eventually marry Rachita and Rudra was part of the family, it wouldn't be nice of him to beat up a future in law of some sort. And also that the person who gets beaten up and does not wince is the true hero. Okay Rama, the second argument makes more sense and was probably truer đ
Khair, Mantu does not ascribe to the same school of thought/love that Rama believes in so he decides to avenge his friend. He sees Rama's mother, looking so sad, hurt and helpless and silently assures her that he will not stay quiet. Rama's mother breaks down next to Rama and that was sad to watch. Agreed that she went overboard in her accusations about the Mathur girls being characterless but then when it comes to maternal protective instincts, you never know how crazy even otherwise sensible mothers get. I am one of those kinds of moms too so I know. The kind who is like you mess with my kiddo, I will hunt you down and kill you! đ
I guess GC was shaken up by this encounter with Rama's mom too because I expected him to immediately launch a tirade against Rachita once Rama's mom left but he didn't. Instead, when Sneha goes to apologize to him on Rachita's behalf, he tells her that freedom needs to come with restrictions (a rather paradoxical statement) and asks her to explain to Rachita that she needs to mend her ways.
So GC has imposed more restrictions on the girls and insists on dropping them off at work in the family car with of course, the thug Rudra by his side. Rachita isn't happy about the arrangement but Amaya seems so eager to please and acquiesce, its starting to get sickening. GC dismisses Rachita's arguments and they head on their way only to be stopped by Mantu Maharaj.
Mantu asks Rudra to get out of the car and Amaya, I guess after learning of how badly Rudra beat up Rama, gets worried for Mantu's safety and tries to stop Rudra. GC was absolutely sick in this scene. He goads Rudra to go fight with Mantu to show Mantu his place like he is some underworld don of some sort. When Rudra delivers his first blow to Mantu, Amaya actuallys runs right into the middle to stop Rudra but Mantu stops her and pushes her away and the two get into a major duel.
The action sequence stretches and thankfully, it wasn't just the hero thrashing up the villain to glorify the hero's almost superhuman strength. The hero got beaten up quite a bit too but in the end, the villain gets thrashed mercilessly. They've ended up in the temple pond and Mantu drags a semi-conscious Rudra out of the water with such tashan that I simply loved it. He delivers some dhaansu dialogues:
He calls Amaya "Aye Madam!" and I loved the tashan with which he did it. It reminded me of the Mantu from the start of the serial who wasn't all mush but a little rough around the edges. I liked that.
Mantu too calls GC out on his hypocrisy and double standards of claiming to be a noble man but using sadk chhap gundas to get his way when GC taunts him about being a sadak chhap awara. I like how everyone is holding up the mirror to GC and making him realize he isn't what he thinks he is. As it is, why does GC have so much respect in Banaras? Is it just because he is the wealthiest? Or because he has his "ways" of getting things done his way? Remember the scene where he manhandles the goon Dev had hired to find out about Sneha? I have had my doubts about GC being a noble man ever since then.
When Mantu is yelling back at GC, there is this desperate look on Amaya's face that kind of says, "Mantu! Please don't spoil your impression further in front of your future grandfather-in-law, please!" and I thought that was hilarious.
And sometime while delivering his dialogue about valuing relationships and friendships, Mantu says, "(something something) hamari Amaya" and pauses. I was like wait, what?! And then I realized he did not mean hamari Amaya but just said Amaya at the end of a sentence that ended with Hamari. The silly ManYa fan in me rejoiced for a second there just because he said hamari and Amaya together.
Dev gets updates from a beaten black and blue Rudra and though Rudra tries to get more money from Dev citing his injuries, Dev puts him right in his place. I am wondering if Rachita's disappearance is actually Dev and Rudra's plan? It would be a master stroke if it were, especially if they were to snap those pictures of Rama and Rachita together, then it would be humiliation beyond redemption for the Chaubey family. Would GC survive the humiliation? The way Rudra reacts to Rachita not being at home late in the evening strengthens my suspicions. I somehow do not see Rama's mom planning something of this sort. I don't know. I could be wrong though.
In the precap, Rama is in no mood to give up his pursuit of Rachita and Rachita is in no mood yet to forgive him. What isn't good however, is that, Rachita seems to be speaking to Rama on speaker phone and Amaya hears their convo. I think Amaya might be instrumental in pointing the needle of suspicion towards Rama when Rachita goes missing. Or she might surprise us by using her brains and to avoid more drama, seeking Mantu's help to find Rachita and save Rama from more trouble too in the process. Lets see what happens. I am pretty excited about how all of this is going to unfold.
Character of the day - Mantu. Kya tashan tha boss
Scene of the day - The cat fight between Rama's mom and Kaushalya. Hilarious I tell you! And for the ManYa fan in me, when Amaya jumps right between Rudra and Mantu to "save" Mantu.
Dialogue of the day - Mantu's warning to GC. Delivered with such awesome attitude!
Hasi ki dukaan of the day - Me because there was no screech owl Uma in sight again. I would love it if the show went on just like this. I can deal with and tolerate every single other person on the show except the screech owl Uma.
Nautanki of the day - Kaushalya fretting over her broken bharni of achar. Rudra, for all the gundagardi he boasts of, he had to hide at GC's feet in fear of Rama's mom.
P.S - The title of the post is dedicated to both Rama's mom and Mantu for shutting GC up. Lol! đ
