Not surprising. I would so love to make a career in building nomination list for award ceremonies. I won't leave any worthy performance (regardless of how popular) behind. 😉Regarding Lajja, no complain at all on the performance front (actor and actresses). It was crowded with many characters to support the 4 episodic sub-plots but all of them did justice. The ladies overall held their own, even the ones with small scope (Jaya Bhattacharya - who plays "Lata", Dina Pathak, Farida Jalal, Rohini Hattangadi etc... )😆Coming to the main ladiesManisha: Excellent. She looked beautiful and carried the movie well. She was very good at playing emotionally oppressed characters.Mahima: I was blown away. Great dialog delivery and fiery performance in that cathartic mandap scene. Well directed, Yes, people clapped in the theatre where I watched too. Rajkumar Santoshi woman!Madhuri: WOW! Looked so beautiful. I always loved her in dramatic roles that require her to say strong dialogs. Her voice, diction is perfect and she shows anger, intensity well. I loved her in the scene with Manisha right after Agnipariksha play, what an outburst and also her final confrontation with Tinu Verma and the whole scene with the crowd. Well directed, acted by both the ladies👏Rekha: WOW!! Everything - dialog delivery, accent etc. AMAZING. All her scenes were good, in particular the last tragic scene. 😭Each one evoked a sense of repulsion at the societal issues and as a viewer, you wanted to reach out and ensure they were ultimately happy. If there was an equilvalent of Screen Actors Guild award for Cast in a Motion Picture" in India, I would pick Lajja for 2001.
