Okay so in the precap we see Gayatri's mom snapping at her for behaving immaturely. She tells her as a commoner she has no right to love a King? Well dont I agree with her there. Of course not, love has no boundaries. It can be two people of any caste, creed, gender or even social status.
But should go we be blinded by love? I believe we shouldn't. That is what Gayatri's mother should rightly be scolding her for. It seemed like at the party she would have been ready to drink poison had it been offered to her by Ranaji. Is it right to be blinded by love? Does you dignity and self-respect go down the drain when your love? Does being in love mean dancing at your loved ones tune no matter how indifferent they are to you.
In many desi soaps (dont mean to generalize here) we see people, primarily women blinded by love. By blinded by love I mean accepting perpetration and abuse like it doesnt affect them because they are in love. Typically in the type of serials with the angry brooding young man. Its their job to love uncondtionally even if all they are receiving is abuse in return. Is loving your man worth making your dignity, self-respect, self-worth take a back seat?
I felt Gayatri some what crossed that line at the party. Not that I have a problem with drinking. Like I said its not such a taboo from where I come from. But she normally wouldn't have consumed alcohol had it not been given to her by Ranaji. Is love worth putting your principals aside for? Of course Gayatri is yet to do anything half as bad as what I have seen girls do in normal hindi tv love hate dramas. She hasn't come close enough to doing anything that would make me label her as a doormat.
But I would like to raise a general discussion here. Is it right to be blinded by love? Is love worth putting your principals aside for? This really isn't related to Gayatri's actions but more about the discussion mom and daughter are having in the precap.
