Baahubali
One of the most successful films of the year, Baahubali, was apparently offered to Sridevi. According to a report on Ibtimes.com, speculations were rife that Sridevi was approached for the role that was eventually played by Ramya Krishnan. However, the actress decided to decline the offer as she another South project had caught her interest. Sridevi is now making a comeback in Tamil cinema with Puli. The film is an adventure-cum-fantasy movie and stars Vijay in the lead role.
Baghban
After the birth of her daughters, Sridevi got busy with her kids and family. However, she was offered a very important role in Baghban. In an interview with Timeofindia.com, Boney Kapoor was quoted as saying that, "She had rejected so many offers. There was a point when she came very close to doing a film with Amitabh Bachchan for Yash Chopra around 1999. Yashji and she share a comfort level. She was pursued for six months to doBaghban." However, when Sridevi declined the offer, veteran actress Hema Malini stepped into the picture.
Mohabbatein
However, Baghban was not the only film where Sridevi missed out on the opportunity to do a film with Amitabh Bachchan. According to IMDb, Sridevi was offered an interesting role inMohabbatein and she was supposed to play Amitabh Bachchan's love interest. However, she declined the offer for reasons not known. When the film released in 2000, there was no replacement for that character. Seems like the makers decided not to have the character in the film at all since Sridevi had refused to play the part.
BetaBack in 1992, Sridevi was much in demand. The actress was offered to play the role of the leading lady in Indra Kumar's film, Beta. However, Sridevi preferred to not be a part of the movie as she felt that she was already doing several films with Anil Kapoor. Eventually the role went to Madhuri Dixit, who impressed with her performance in the film. Beta was one of the biggest hits of the year when it had released and Madhuri had even bagged a Filmfare award in the Best Actress category for her performance in the film.
DarrSridevi had also rejected a film opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Apparently, the makers of Darrwanted Sridevi to play the leading role. However, according to a report on Masala.com, Sridevi had turned down the role, stating that Darr would have been an ordinary film for her and that the role was something that she had done several times in the past. Eventually, the role went to Juhi Chawla and the film is considered to be one of the biggest hits of her career.
