Actors do a lot for roles " lose and gain weight, grow/shave off beards and moustaches or go bald. But director Vishal Bhardwaj had only one brief to give Saif Ali Khan for Rangoon " "have a beautiful look and an amazing body". But Saif's not beefing up for said role. He says, "Vishal wants me to be fitter that I have ever been for Rangoon. Besides I've never really been beefy. I did put on some weight for Omkara " and that's fine because Langda was a village goonda type who drinks all day. But for Rangoon, he wants my body to look beautiful, so it's going to be good fun. I don't even know what kind of film it is " a romance or an action film. I don't know much about what my character is." He further admits, "I haven't really heard the narration. Whatever I've heard so far, is exciting, so I said yes. It's going to be wonderful working with Vishal again. The only thing we have discussed so far is the fitness angle and the only brief that Vishal gave me about the fitness bit was that I must look really amazing! I am yet to start on my diet and fitness training. I absolutely have no idea where we will be shooting either! Shahid and I are supposed to start our workshops soon." Speaking of Shahid Kapoor, VB and the younger actor have a special equation after Kaminey and Haider. As an actor, doesn't that make Saif uncomfortable? He says, "I see your point, but I was actually offered this role six years ago and the script has changed a lot since then. But Vishal always wanted me in this part and I am very confident in how Vishal will treat my character. A little bit of insecurity about other people can be healthy, but it's not something worth obsessing about. I have never been that way, but I like to be a little competitive. It gets me out of bed early and do gym, etc. I need to hype it up in my mind. If I take it easy, I will be lazy. I tend to work harder in those setups, more than the solo movies." |
