| Acts of faith Take a walk around Rakhi Sawant's spacious living room and you can't possibly miss the beautiful figurines and rare portraits of various Gods and Goddesses. "I have had a traumatic childhood, and ever since I have taken solace in the Almighty. I have faith in all religions - Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism and Christianity," she says. Her favourite continues to be the life-size terracotta portrait of Lord Ganesha. However, acquiring the particular portrait has not been an easy task. She says, "The first time I saw it, I just wanted to take him home. When I enquired about the price they quoted Rs 75, 000. I didn't have that kind of money then. I urged them to let me pay in instalments but in vain. Before leaving the store I said a quiet prayer. In a week's time, I grabbed a commercial and headed for the store as soon as I got my first cheque." The ceiling has the nine planets of the solar system neatly etched on it. "The planets control our moves," Rakhi and her mother, Jaya say in unison. |
Traditionally yours Rakhi admits that she had her fair share of tiffs with live-in boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi while doing up her place. While Abhishek was all for a 'sporty look' with bright shades of red, blue and green, she brought in traditional leather couches, artificial flower hangings, carpets and murals. She says, "I wanted a very traditional look for the house and I don't like experimenting with my house dcor." |
| Breakfast at Rakhi's Mornings are usually spent at the balcony with her morning cup of tea. She has settled for bean bags for the sitting arrangement. Rakhi, we hear, prefers making her own breakfast. She says, "Abhishek and I make it a point to spend some time at the balcony every morning." The area also has a garden full of flowering plants and shrubs. |
| Showtime Her favourite pastimes are watching television and listening to music. "I just can't stay away from my home theatre system. No matter how tired I am but I have to watch my daily quota of television every day," she says. She proudly displays her recently acquired Koffee Awards given to her by Karan Johar on his popular chat show. |
