Padmini Haldankar

Padmini Haldankar is back on the scene after a gap of quite a few years. But the fact that she was off the radar hasn't dimmed her enthusiasm for dance and choreography. Assigned to Sweta Keswani and Alexx O'Neill, Padmini is taking her task very seriously and is leaving no stone unturned to turn Alexx from an inexperienced American student into a technically and aesthetically sound dancer.

Padmini herself is a very well trained dancer. She has received formal training in Indian folk dances, Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Jazz Ballet.

From award ceremonies to college festivals, Halandkar has tried her hand at everything. She has choreographed at the Filmfare Awards and the popular television serial Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand. Incidentally Sweta gained immense popularity with the same show. She has also assisted in the hit films Madhosh, Dhadkan and Raja Hindustani.

Favourite Music to choreograph to: No particular as such but it needs to be melodic. I don't like that latest one with those remixes and rap beats. They don't make the ever green numbers… I like a lot of meoldy.

Best Dance Sequence in Bollywood: Almost all of SRK dances are a treat to your eyes and lately Farah Khan's Main Hoon Na. I also like Saroj Khan's dance sequences.

Favourite Dancer: Michael Jackson has been my favourite and my teacher is Karla Singh. On the classical side I'm fond of Keluchand Mohapatra.

Favourite Dance Styles: I like Indian dances… but I enjoy all forms of dance.

One tip that she will give Sweta and Alexx: I have told them to keep their posture straight. I have made handmade bamboo sticks put them at their back to not slouch… They have tendency to slouch so I'm hoping that the sticks help them get over that!

Dance Styles she will encourage Sweta and Alexx to do: Something Western obviously will suit them. I will also be getting them to do an Indian piece on one of the occasions.

Particular Moves she will teach the couple: I do have quite a few in mind but I will be keeping them as a surprise… I first want them to get their basics right and then as the competition gets further I will be putting in some signature moves.

Sanjay Yadav

Sanjay Yadav, a Nagpur lad came to Mumbai twelve years back and after lot of struggle he got an opportunity to assist choreographer-singer Ganesh Hegde for two years. He has been running a dance school called Neo Dance Class at Oshiwara in suburban Mumbai for six months now.

Yadav has taught dance personally to Hrithik Roshan and Viveik Oberoi before they got into Bollywood. He has also worked with upcoming Bollywood talent including Ranbir Kapoor and Harman Baweja. Sanjay has also choreographed Rahul Vaidya's music video Mere Maulla. Among the telly stars he has choreographed Aamna Sharif and Rajeev Khandelwal for their upcoming serial Hum Do Humara Nao for Star Plus.

Sanjay says this is first time that he is participating in a dance reality show and is therefore quite excited about training Karan Patel and Ameeta Chandekar for Nach Baliye 3.

Favourite Music to choreograph to: Kambakht Ishq from Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and My Love My Love… from Partner.

Best Dance Sequence in Bollywood: Kambakht Ishq from Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.

Favourite Dancer: Michael Jackson and Hrithik Roshan.

Favourite Dance Styles: I like Prabhu Deva's style of dancing, the way his body moves is superb.

One tip that she will give Karan and Ameeta: Work Hard. Karan Patel no doubt is good dancer as he is from the Shamak Davar dance group and Amita is a fast learner and hard working.

Dance Styles she will encourage Karan and Ameeta to do:We will go according to choice of Indian audiences especially Mumbai crowd as they like both Indian and western so it will be mixture of both. It will be dependent on the dance tracks.

Particular Moves he will teach the couple: I can't disclose this but it will depend on the song selection. It will be blend of western and Indian… Western jazz, salsa and some Indian touch.

Speaking about his current students Pratap says that he is quite happy with the way things are progressing, as both of them are very good dancers.

Favourite Music to choreograph to: Many of them. We don't have to stick in a particular format and I believe that whatever song or music is given to me should be very well choreographed.

Best Dance Sequence in Bollywood: My favourite is not in Bollywood. I really like Black or White performed by Michael Jackson and the song Oops!... I Did It Again performed by Britney Spears.

Favourite Dancer: Rakhi Sawant and Shilpa Shetty I think they both have a very good energy level and in choreographers I like Saroj Khan.

Favourite Dance Styles: Western, hip hop and Indian classical.

One tip that she will give Rakhi and Abhishek: I will tell them to have a better coordination with each other. It's easy to do a solo dancing but it's very difficult to do a duet.

Dance Styles she will encourage Rakhi and Abhishek to do: It's a secret! We are practicing it but I want them to do all kind of dances.

Particular Moves he will teach the couple: Not yet decided

Dance Styles she will encourage Shakti and Shivangi to do: Salsa and Latin dance.

Particular Moves he will teach the couple: Not as such… I leave it up to them, but what ever the competition demands I will teach them.

One tip that she will give Vikas and Amita: We will give them steps which are suitable for them. We will also try to give them hard steps but we will try to mould them more grace fully.

Dance Styles she will encourage Vikas and Amita to do: Amita is not a good dancer but at the same time she is not off key dancer. She has good rhythm which is more important. Vikas is a good dancer and their jodi looks perfect as they have good co-ordination.

Rajiev Diwakar

Rajiev Diwakar, who will be playing choreographer to Karan Grover and Kavita Kaushik in Nach Baliye 3, started his dance career in 1994. He has taken his western dance training from the Latin Ballroom Institute New York after which he enrolled himself for classical dance training (Bharatnatayam) under the same teacher who trained yesteryear actress Meenakshi Sheshadri. But that wasn't all… Rajiev has also received formal training in Bollywood dance style.

In a career that spans just over a decade Diwakar has had the opportunity to do a variety of work. "I have done more than 150 music videos, 25 films and 20 ad films. I have worked under Ganesh Aacharya and Bhushan for many years. I went independent in 2001," he said.

"I have done choreography for films like With Love Tumhara and a recent one is Old is Gold. Then there are seven upcoming movies for which I am doing the choreography like Run Main Fun with Govinda and many more," adds Rajiev.

Diwakar seems to have an added advantage as he has worked with many of the participants of Nach Baliye already. "I have worked with Rakhi for her music video, which was the Punjabi-English video for her UK audience… I have also choreographed more than 30 videos for Krushna Abhishek."

Dance Styles she will encourage Karan and Kavita to do: Dewana teri ankon ka from Darar.

Particular Moves he will teach the couple: I think they are good dancers and I would not like to mould them and spoil their own style. Their strength is their own style and weakness I think is that they are not known for their dance.

Chetan and Arun

Chetan and Arun are training television stars Amir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh for Nach Baliye 3. The dancing duo, Arun and Chetan, are childhood friends and decided to launch their own dance troupe two years back. They have taken their training from Mahesh Mahboobani who is a master in western dance from London.

Chetan and Arun say: "We have started our own group two years back. We have done shows like the Police annual function and many shows abroad. Before this we worked with Ganesh Hegde for 5 years. We have also done a film called Panga Na Le."

The duo says that although they have learnt a lot from ace choreographer Ganesh Hegde, they do not like his latest piece of work. "We do not like Ganesh Hegde's recent song Mehbooba… at least in promos it is not looking good. That is not his style!"

Speaking about Amir and Sanjeeda the choreographers are all praises for the celebrity couple. "They are the perfect couple! Sanjeeda is good dancer and Amir we think has never danced before this. But he sees each step carefully and asks us to do it slowly and picks it up quickly. So basically he is good learner. Sanjeeda takes time to learn things but she does it very nicely. They helped each other a lot which is a good quality in them."

Sumeet

Pooja Bedi and Hanif Hilal's choreographer Sumeet is the youngest choreographer on Nach Baliye. Aged just 20 years, young Sumeet is managing his personal dance academy, his studies and training one of the most popular couples of the competition.

"I started dancing quite late… When I was around 15. I was really fat and it helped me get fit. When I began dancing I couldn't move because of my weight but I had a lot of rhythm. So I worked hard at it and trained myself every single day to improve," says Sumeet.

"I worked on all my skills myself… Saw videos… Joined ballet, hip hop classes… Basic of Kathak. Then I started doing shows. Initially I started as a dancer then the first stint came in the form of choreography for school. And after that I got a lot of schools, then colleges, then corporates… and then I launched my own company - Expressions Dance and Fitness Studio because I wanted to teach a lot of people dance."

Sumeet is currently studying for his final year of BMS at HR College in Mumbai. In between his lectures and dance academy he also teaches dance therapy at quite a few institutes across the city. He says his life is closely connected to dance and therefore he uses dance as a form of enriching people's lives in any form possible.

Favourite Music to choreograph to: I am very finicky and it changes every day.

Best Dance Sequence in Bollywood: I do not like Bollywood at all but I like the idea of Bollywood because I feel if done correctly it can be very creative. My favourite choreographer is Saroj Khan because she is very different. Vaibhavi Merchant is also very creative.

Favourite Dancer: I really like SRK… he is probably not a perfect dancer but he is a brilliant performer. His charisma is great. He may not be the most technically correct dancer but he brings a lot of charm to the stage which is always great!

Favourite Dance Styles: Contemporary… I do something called modern movements… in that I try to bring out each person's inner self.

One tip that she will give Pooja and Hanif: Dance for yourselves… Don't dance for the judges, public or me. If you enjoy yourself everything will fall into place automatically.

Dance Styles she will encourage Pooja and Hanif to do: They both are Latin dancers so I will be trying to pull them out of that style.

Particular Moves he will teach the couple: I basically want them to do anything that is different from Latin dance… Something that they have become synonymous with.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!
