TV's unlikely friends and unlikely foes

The dostis in the TV industry work in strange ways. While costars who confess their everlasting love to each other onscreen barely acknowledge each other off-screen, actors who may be baying for each other's blood on the show have private jokes and loads of selfies together in real life. On the occasion of Friendship Day , we bring you a list of people who prove that things are indeed quite different between the reel and real friendships.

THE REAL LIFE BFFS WHO FIGHT ONSCREEN!

Here's a list of BFFs you might have seen fighting for the same guy or plotting against each other to gain an edge in the show, but are actually inseparable in real life.

SANGRAM SINGH AND KARAN PATEL (YE HAI MOHABBATEIN):

onscreen, Karan and Sangram don't leave any stone unturned to have a go at each other. But when the camera is off, the two are close buddies and share several pictures of their bromance. Sangram says, "My character Ashok on Ye Hai Mohabbatein is someone who will leave no stone unturned in making Raman (played by Karan) feel miserable. But all that is onscreen. Karan Patel is my brother and my best friend for life. Even though it's all natural onscreen, off-screen we're always laughing and having a blast. I always only wish the best for him." Karan adds, "Sangram is my best friend for life. We may not get along onscreen and Raman cannot stand Ashok, but in reality , I don't know what I'd do without him. He's an amazing person and one of my closest friends on the sets. It's fun to shoot because he's around and we're always up to something or the other."

ROHITASHV GAUR AND AASHIF SHEIKH (BHABHIJI GHAR PAR HAIN):

Manmohan Tiwari and Vibhuti Narayan Mishra are always trying to outdo each other when it comes to impressing the other's wives. But off camera, both Rohitashv and Aashif are always sharing a joke and laughing off their onscreen tiff. Rohitashv says, "We always start laughing when we have to shoot scenes where we have to maaro taanas at each other. Sometimes, we even try to reduce the intensity of our fight onscreen by modifying the dialogues."

PEARL V PURI AND ASMITA SOOD (BADTAMEEZ DIL):

This is an exception to the 'onscreen couples not being friends' rule, as Pearl and Asmita's characters are always devising ways to bring the other down in the show, but off-screen, they are always shopping together and going for long drives. Pearl says, "In Badtameez Dil, our characters, Meher and Abeer, don't quite get along. Abeer is always up to mischief and trying to annoy Meher at any given opportunity . But when we're not shooting, she's one of my closest friends on the sets. That's also because we've spent the maximum amount of time together since we're mostly shooting together." Asmita adds, "For me, Pearl is the same onscreen and off-screen. Just like Abeer annoys Meher, Pearl too tries to annoy me whenever possible. He'll always be thinking about what he can do to irritate me. But on a more serious note, we're really good friends and he's someone I know I can count on."

SHIKHA SINGH AND MRUNAL THAKUR (KUMKUM BHAGYA):

On the show, Shikha's char acter Alia is in love with the guy whom Mrunal's character is all set to marry. While Shikha's character tries to kill Mrunal's character and take her place in the mandap, off camera, Shikha is Mrunal's boyfriend's jasoos, who keeps him updated about what his lady love is up to. "Mrunal is like a kid and very childish, so I am the mature person in this friendship. We eat together after the shoot gets over and I tell Mrunal's boyfriend, Sharad, about what she is doing, so I am like a jasoos. When they were going for Nach Baliye, I supported them and in fact, I was the one who coined their moniker 'Shanal'."

TEJASWI PRAKASH WAYANGANKAR AND HELLY SHAH (SWARAGINI):

In the show, Tejaswi's character is the 'loving behen-turned-obsessive lover' who will not stop at anything to stop the marriage of her sister, played by Helly , to the guy they both love. But when they are not shooting, Tejaswi and Helly are like Siamese twins.Helly says, "Many people tell us that we look like twins and off camera, we are always chatting away and chilling together. We are shopping buddies and we can shop at the airport in 10 minutes and pick everything we want to." Tejaswi says, "We are best friends and we both are quite similar in our tastes. Recently , when I had to push her character in the water for a sequence, I started crying because I couldn't do it! We shot the scene with her body double."

NOTHING CLOSE TO THE IDEAL COUPLE

While these couples might seem to be the epitome of everlasting friendship and understanding, there is no love lost between these TV couples off-screen.

RAJAT TOKAS AND PARIDHI SHARMA (JODHA AKBAR):

Rajat and Paridhi might be loved for their portrayal of Jodha and Akbar, but even after working together for more than two years, the two have hardly interacted with each other off-screen. And it's not a big secret these two are quite open about the fact that they don't really gel well off-screen. While Rajat had at one point confessed that he was a loner and completely focused on his character and didn't have time for off-screen camaraderie, Paridhi has always maintained that if the characters look believable onscreen, not much importance should be given to the actors' off-screen interactions. Now that the show is all set to bid adieu to the small screen, we would like to see them become friends.

HINA KHAN AND KARAN MEHRA (YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI):

Hina and Karan might have been working together for almost six years, but they have stuck to being friends only onscreen. Hina was quoted as saying in an interview, "Karan and I aren't friends, but we gel very well professionally . We don't know anything about each other's personal life, but we have a lot of fun on the sets. After that, he is in his own world and me in mine."

PARTH SAMTHAAN AND NITI TAYLOR (KAISI YEH YAARIAAN):

One of the youngest couples onscreen, Parth and Niti have become quite popular because of their sizzling chemistry on the show. But off-screen, Parth is missing from all the pictures Niti regularly tweets from the sets. When there were rumours of Parth quitting the show because of Niti, the duo had said that even though there were no issues between the two, they were not great friends.

RAVI DUBEY AND NIA SHARMA (JAMAI RAJA):

Ravi and Nia started off as friends in real life when the show went on air, but over a period time, developed differences and are no longer tagged as friends. The actors have maintained that they are committed to their work and whether they get along well off-screen or not, it doesn't matter.

Thanks for sharing dear..
What they share offscreen doesn't matter when they are sizzling on screen so well.
Hope it shouldn't be the last show of them..
They are the most alluring couple onscreen .. All the parijat fans wants to see them together in new project.

TFS dear.
But I somehow feel there aren't any differences b/w them as the article mentioned.
They looked quite comfortable and friendly right from the ZRA to recent Nach Baliye.
Would love to see them again onscreen.
