He let go of her hand and slowly got up. Sitting up, he helped her up as well and looked away after giving her a smile. She sat there fidgeting with her hands nervous about whether she had disappointed him by making him stop. She had tried her hardest to act normal and let him do what he wanted, but it reminded her all the previous times and she ended up resisting. But now she was worried it had offended him and will make him pull back again. Not knowing how to react anymore, he got up to walk out of the room getting the much needed space and giving her the thinking time she wanted. But as he started to walk away, he was stopped as she pulled back his hand. Turning around he looked at her as tears formed in her eyes and she threw her arms around him sobbing and mumbling. He didn't know what was going on and held her tightly as he tried to make sense of her mumbles...

"You're nice Raman! You're really nice!"

He pulled back from the hug or at least tried to, but she held onto him refusing to let go. Something was disturbing her a lot and he wondered if it was his sudden closeness or something else. As she clutched onto his shirt crumpling it while doing so, he looked down at her and held onto her. He stroked her back trying to calm her down while she tried to compose herself. She started to let loose in his arms and he slowly pulled back and cupped her face. He made her look at him as droplets from her eyes fell on his hand...

"Raman...I'm trying to be more open with you...but it's hard...I tried...and I couldn't...I-"

"What wrong?" he asked softly wiping her tears and moving her hair out of the way as he made her sit down on the bed and handed her some water. She hiccupped after gulping down half the glass and told him...

"I got reminded of...him..."

His hands let go of her face and covered his face instead. What had he done? All he wanted and intended to do was to come closer to her because he thought she was okay with it now. Nowhere did he think it would remind her of that man. He felt really disgusted with himself as he made her remember all she was trying to forget. He didn't know where he went wrong, was it what he did or because any touch made her feel this was...

"I...I reminded you...of him? Did I do something wrong? Did I..I act like...him?"

"No, you understood...you backed off...but he wouldn't. I would behave the same way like with you, but he never noticed! You did! He...he would go on no matter how emotionless I was during the whole thing. And now I just turned my face and you stopped. But I still couldn't keep you happy." And she started to cry again.

He opened his arms for her as she leaned on his chest. He felt her tears on his shirt as she sniffled wiping off her tears again. He hugged her tighter not wanting to let her know. It was as if she would be safe from those bad memories in his arms, like he could keep her away from the pain of her past, like she would forget that man in his arms. If only it was true...if only she wasn't so hurt. He couldn't stop himself from asking her why she didn't just push him away instead of letting him go on when she didn't want him to...

"Ishita you're hiding so much pain?! Why didn't you stop me?"

"Raman...I'm trying to...I'm sorry..." she clenched onto him as if he would leave if she let him go.

"Shhh, you don't need to change anything or rush anything."

"I want to move ahead with you...but when you touched me in the same spots in the same manner...I..."

"I didn't know...I'm so sorry." A tear rolled down as he regretted hurting her unintentionally.

"Raman...don't back off please...Raman I don't want to remember him when you come near me...I want it to only be you. I felt your touch and it gave me that feeling I wanted, I knew it was you and not him yet I don't know why I thought of him and...I just want you in my thoughts...not him."

"I also want it to be that way...but for now we'll wait. We take it slowly. And you kept me happy even when we didn't give ourselves a chance, so this is more than enough for me that you said you will try. I won't ever be disappointed by you."

"I'm sorry...you want to go ahead, but because of me-"

"Don't worry. I am not pushing you to do anything and I wasn't going to do anything today either. I was going to wait because besides being reminded of him, the condition you are in you won't like anything more than kisses for now. I wasn't going to do anything with you today."

"Then why did you..." he smiled wiping off his own tears and hers as she looked up at him confused...

"All I was going to do was..." he tapped her cheek as she turned a darker shade each time he tapped it gently. She smiled at him faintly as she thought about she had assumed he was going to go ahead without considering what she wanted. She found herself being stupid for not realizing he wasn't like that, he would always be conscious of what she felt and wanted...

"Raman so you won't go further than this? Until I want?"

"We'll wait until you want. Along with your wish, there was another reason...listen I don't know if you are going through the same, but last time... for me intimacy was a big no during...her...first trimester. It caused arguments and she just couldn't do it. She was cranky, tired, running to the bathroom many times. And our continuous arguments about the baby didn't help either. So if you are going through the same and don't feel well, I want you to take care of yourself before trying to think about what I want. And I don't know if it's all like with everyone, but I think we should wait."

She felt a pinch in her heart as he talked about her again and it increase that helpless she felt as she was the one who talked about her ex before him. Did it hurt him as much as it hurt her? She didn't know what to do anymore. She wanted to move on so badly. She enjoyed his small touches and kisses because those memories were never there with Subbu since for that man it was all about sleeping around, but Raman's small touches did more than whatever Subbu's so called love ever did. And it made her crave more and when she got it, she felt so stupid for comparing it to Subbu's time.

She looked up at him with glistening eyes. And there he was...still compromising and understanding. He was looking out for her this whole time, about her mood, her wishes, her health and she couldn't even watch what she said and talk so much about her physical moments with her ex. He thought the eyes were due to his mention of Shagun...

"Sorry I talked about...her...but I just don't want to hurt you or bother you so I compared."

"No...it's fine. So you're willingly to wait? But it could be longer than these 4 weeks left in my trimester."

"I'll wait till whenever you want."

"That's why I said you're so nice! I'm trying Raman...I don't know why my mind went back to those times..."

"Shhh. I said it's okay." He hugged her tightly gently pecking her hair as she closed her eyes. This was a first for her and it gave her that same pleasant feeling she got from his usual touches. She always wanted to be made to feel this way...

"Everything else apart, you know I'm attracted to you. You know why? It's because you're stunning. I just don't mean you wearing this hot saree or those outing clothes or having that flawless makeup I mean you can attract a man with your words, your personality and that's just as desirable as your looks. More than physical beauty, I was first attracted to you as a person."

She looked up at him. It was like he read her mind. The exact words she needed at this moment to remind her the past was gone and he was the present. The present that gave the hope for a better future with him. And despite all that she wasn't able to let go of the painful past and now it was becoming the reason that bright future seemed so close yet so far away. But he was still there trying to encourage her to move on and was there for her at the right moments and she couldn't help as with a smile...

"How do you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Make me feel so beautiful in the way I want it..."

"I just tell you what I feel, it's you who brings out these feelings." He simply smiled at her and asked her to get some rest while he would go get Ruhi from Mihika. But before he could even get up, she stopped him...

"Ra...Raman...only kiss..."

He looked at her surprised and then thought she was just doing this so he wouldn't be disappointed, but when he told her not to worry, she whispered to him...

"I want that feeling..." and that was enough for him to know she really wanted this. And he looked at her while she told him the same thing as before with her eyes. He knew it was small baby steps when it came to coming close to her and he needed to be patient and controlled. So with a smile as he reminded himself it was slow and steady. He sat down next to her facing her while she sat up on the bed. He brought himself closer and whispered in her ear...

"I will make you feel beautiful..." Cupping her face, he kissed her forehead as a smile appeared on her forehead. She grabbed one of his hands and took it off her cheek letting him know what she wanted. Placing a gentle kiss on her cheek, he grinned as her cheek turned pink as he took off his lips from her soft cheek. He looked at her as she opened her eyes and there was nothing but happiness and desire in them. He moved her hair to one side as she entangled her fingers with his. He leaned over and placed a wet kiss on her neck sending a shiver down her spine as his stubble grazed her chin. And all his could do was whisper his name...

"Raman..."

Prabh - the heart to heart convo & progress made in this update was so adorable. Seriously the Raman you have brought to life is just a sweet heart that any girl would be lucky to have. Ishita is just so sweet & relatable, and I love watching her slowly come out of the demons of her past. It's so real watching her internal strife. The way these two characters love each other so deeply is just beautiful!
