Dancing to other's tune is difficult: Adesh

Indore, Sep 1: Celebrated music director Adesh Shrivastav, who so far let the others dance to his tune, will now dance to other's tune and there could not have been a better platform for him than the stage of 'jhalak dikhla ja' whose second edition will hit the television screen from September 28. Adesh who was in the city on Thursday in connection with the promotional campaign of 'jhalak dikhla ja', also gave a glimpse of his dancing talent at DAVV auditorium. The auditorium of Devi Ahilya university on Thursday evening wore a look of the 'jhalak dikhla ja' stag where dance troupes from Mumbai gave scintillating performances on after another. Music director Adesh Shrivastav who is one of the participants in the show to be telecast on Sony channel, also regaled the audience with his restricted dance steps and few songs which he sang from his own films. Later in an informal chat with the media persons here, he shared his struggle, experiences and journeys from a nonentity to a celebrated music director to a judge in Star Voice of India show and now as a dancer in 'jhalak dikhla ja'. There is quiet a difference between letting the others dance to your tune and dancing to other's tune but I am happy that now I am doing both, Adesh said adding his MRP (maximum retail price) has increased with the music and dance. This Jabalpur lad said it would be wrong to say that he has distanced himself from the film music. Music is my first love. It was basically because of my pre-occupations in two music albums that I did not get enough time these days to concentrate on film music, Adesh said adding that his first international album with the 16 times Grammy award winner Wiclif Johns will be released in November this year, besides his own Indian music album 'Beyond Boundaries' will be released in September. This album will also have a video which has been shoot along with film actresses Riya Sen, Amrita Ra, Isha Koprikar and others, Adesh added. Talking about dance, he said it was his childhood dream but never got an opportunity as nobody in his family had ever practiced dance. Now I have got this opportunity in 'jhalak dikhla ja' and hopefully I shall try to do better, he said. On the music shows being telecast on various television channels, Adesh said these shows have revealed that our country have plenty of singing talents and these shows provided a big platform to the budding and talented singers who otherwise would have remained unknown and like a face in the crowd. Talking about the Voice of India, wherein he is participating as a judge, Adesh who recently gave music directions in films like Bagbaan and Babul, said the participants from Madhya Pradesh have a fair chance to become Voice of India but what is disturbing that these singers are not getting enough of votes from Madhya Pradesh they belong to. When asked about clashes among the judges in talent hunt shows, he said it happens because some singers or composers do not understand the music completely and unless and until they have the knack of the music, their judgment will always remain flawed. He said the present voting system in music shows is flawed as most of the time, it has been observed that a genuine singer is voted out. Krishna K Jha
