@nine2: Heya! Nice to hear from you, as usual.
Sanaya's performance had no 'wow' moments but I really don't see what else Jai could have done on the treadmill. I don't even agree with making it faster because that might not have matched the beats of the song. I also feel that so far his pairing with Sanaya is not clicking but this week it's very hard to judge what exactly went wrong.
From the theme PoV, I am inclined to agree with you on Shamita's front. It wasn't as exciting as others. But there was a lot of dance, and good dance, which is why her act worked for me. And she was on a moving stage which does qualify as a prop even if not utilised properly.
I didn't completely hate Vivian's act but I've cleared my reservations in the main post so I guess we can agree to disagree on that. His last week impressed me more tbh.
And yea, I won't even get into the judging.

@howardscarlett: Thank you so much for dropping by!

@SheDevil: Haha, thanks. Yea, a reality show forum can be quite a circus sometimes. And it's good for disagreements to happen. Imo the world would be a boring place if everyone agreed. And there are times when people point out stuff I might have missed and that broadens my horizons as well.

@lovely_lady: Thanks! I completely agree that this gimmick stuff has started because of a change in channel. I get where those who're judging acts based on the theme are coming from, whether we like it or not this is how it is. But as a viewer I have a certain expectation when I watch what calls itself a 'dance show'. I don't blame the contestants or the choreographers but rather whoever came with this non-viable concept. There was no middle ground, either the dance was sacrificed or the theme.

nice post and nice reviews..
but in my opinion Sanaya dance was absolutely fantastic.. she has opened up so much now she can dance in every style and she started enjoy dancing.. so jay will definitely bring her to some difficult level to perform.. but this time i felt judges little biased towards her. except Ganesh and Shahid..
when sanaya performance was over somewhere i understsod that she will get 8 marks bcoz her prop motions were quite slow rather than others.. as they lastly said to shamita.. i thought okk its fair judgement.. but when they gave Subhreet and even Faisal full marks .. there i was like 😲😲
i was thinking when everyone is saying that they cant ignore the fact that they dint use third element , as it would be unjustice with others who used.. then how cum they give them a full marks.. (I m talking abt lauren and karan in faisal case).
as far as subhreet is concerned.. i agree its need a great stamina to perform like her in this condition.. initially it was ok.. but now i feel judges should also treat her like other contestants too..

Yup, agree on not making it faster and his chemistry with Sanaya. Regarding dancing on treadmill, I would say that's where the creativity comes in. That's where I wanted to be "wowed" and was expecting something from Jai and it never came. Or maybe they realized that the dance wasn't what they initially thought it would be after learning and executing the whole act in terms of choreography and it was too late to change it. None the less, it was a pretty good act just not the best in terms of theme. I loved Sanaya's dancing in here. She seems to have recovered well.

@gunurlove: Thank you!
I agree Sanaya really seemed to enjoy her performance this time and I think that's what worked the most for her, more than anything else. I won't comment much on the judgement except yes I do feel it's very random in places.
Faisal conceived the concept of 'Jhalak in Motion' differently and KJo and Lauren gave him marks because they were convinced by his interpretation. Whereas GH and SK insisted that because the 'difficulty' of other contestants was higher as the act was not in their 'control' and there was some 'danger' with the third element, so Faisal deserved to be penalised for 'taking the easy way out'. You take a pick who you think is correct. Everyone has very differing opinions on this (including the judges, clearly!). I have already stated mine.
About Subhreet, well, her disability needs to be kept in mind. We can't just pretend she's like the rest because she is not. Not being unsympathetic, but it's a cold hard fact. But this performance of hers was not even her best imo hence I felt she was overscored.

@princessunara: Aw, thank you very much for your kind words :)

@nine2: I agree Sanaya's act was not best in terms of theme, or even in terms of the dance really. But I enjoyed her act adequately and I think she is slowly but steadily following the right trajectory. I dare to have expectations from future performances and I think unless they choose to again come up with something weird this week, I'll be able to finally tell if Sanaya's injury was holding her back or Jai's choreography. She and Kavita are two people whose overall journey I still haven't fully been able to foresee.

yeah that's how I felt about Sanaya's act too. It definitely wasn't innovative or anything, but Sanaya danced well. She had the appropriate amount of energy and completed her steps.

Honestly, sometimes I feel really bad for the contestants because other than dancing well, the rest of their performance depends on their choreographer -- the choreography and innovativeness. I think Sneha is one who comes to mind -- she's not the best choreographer, in terms of dancing or even being innovative. Whereas Marischa is fabulous at both (she's actually been there from the show's inception and yet she's still interesting to watch!). It really is a gamble. I remember a few years ago, Karanvir Bohra participated and he was actually a good dancer, but Sneha's choreography let him down big time.

@Jane -- yeah, I agree with you in that it's a shame that there's no middle ground between themes and dancing. Like themes are fun to watch once in a while, but the dancing should be there too. I wish the scriptors or whatever they're called actually attempt to have actual dance challenges this season. I remember even in previous seasons, there was so much acrobatic stuff that it got annoying to watch. Like sure it's hard, but after a while, you just get bored of it. I don't understand why it's so hard for the channel to balance between the two. Having dancing challenges one week and then like a theme one week. I think (and I maybe be wrong 😆) but even Nach Baliye is much better at showing actual dance than JDJ which is ridiculous because the latter is technically supposed to be ALL about dance 😆

@lovely_lady: I never had a problem with JDJ's dancing till it was on Sony because the challenges per week were the various dance-forms. I thought it also made it easier for the judges to do their homework because they knew that technically, they would only need to know about these two dance forms for the week. Nach also stopped being interesting for me after a point. I barely paid much attention to S5 and S6 (though I loved Ripu and Shivangi here) and didn't bother with S7 after the first couple of weeks.
Btw I agree with your point on Sneha being a letdown for KVB. Also Rithvik Dhanjani. Both brilliant dancers, my favourites of their season. But unfortunately got her as a choreographer.

@Savz_Startling: Thanks for dropping by with your views :)

@Tanzie: No issues at all, I know you're very busy with work🤗
I agree with everything you said on all the contestants. And yea, it's a bummer about Kavita. I know she is one of the weakest currently but I really wanted her around for at least one more week.
You're so bang-on about Sneha. I've not like her choreography at all ever since she was paired with Rithvik. She was around earlier as well but I never noticed her that much because she was with very forgettable contestants. As far as Raftaar is concerned, I don't know if he has the wrong attitude (as Lauren pointed out as well) but he's been really disappointing post his first performance. And I see a lot of limitations in him as well as a dancer so I can't fully blame Sneha's choreography for that. More like her guidance needs to be better.
Yea Faisal hasn't showcased his best, none of these professional dancers ever did on this stage. They didn't need to. Don't you remember the Mohan sisters? Such a letdown from what we know they're capable of. The bar is so low here, they're still the best without giving their best
