Part 3:
Raman's family had known all about Ishita in the wrongest way possible. They had never seen or interacted with her except for a phone call where Mrs Bhalla had reprimanded her for clinging on and ruining her son's life. Whatever little his family heard or understood about her was completely against her. And so her going away from his life was considered the biggest blessing and they felt that it was good riddance. Little did they know that the woman had already become en essential part of Raman's life and her going away was going to leave him all broken!
Raman's totally absent minded attitude, his entired bizzare, upside down life had called their attention and they were completely horrified seeing him like that. After Ishita had left him that morning, he was totally shattered. Only the previous night when he had made love to her stayed fixed in his mind. He couldn't get himself to focus or divert to any other matter. He remained disturbed and anxious about where his Ishita was and if she was fine in this big cruel world. All he wanted was to bring her back into his protective secured world where he would cherish, love and secure her for the entire life time but she never came back nor could he find her out. He tried with all his might but no, it seemed like she had just vanished into thin air. His parents had to put in all their efforts to convince and cajole him to come back home till he recovered fully from this state. He was against leaving Mumbai because he hoped that Ishita would come back soon but then when things weren't working well, he relented reluctantly to their pleas. He came back to Delhi but his thoughts and memories of them never left him. He cursed himself over a million times for not having read through her thoughts. He smacked and scolded himself for not having understood her inferior, worthless feeling. Her words, "Make love to me" coursed through his head. She had pulled down her saree pallu and invited him into her as she said that to him, "Take me Raman...make love to me" again and again whenever he felt a little hesitant to do it to her. That sight now brought tears swimming across his eyes.
He had always wanted to propose love to her, marry her and then make love to her. Though his desires for her was at its peak, he never wanted to hurry it up and take advantage of the fact that she was dependent on him and so she had to succumb to him and satisfy him. Never!
Now when he worked back through those words and that form of her, he could perceive it all. It was her surrender, her ways of thanking him, her way of showing back what gratitude she felt for him. The most conservative, shy woman had boldly stepped forward just for him. He hadn't even in his wildest thoughts imagined that, nor had he ever thought that she would do this for his sake before she left him forever.
He made sure through MIhir and Neel that his brigade of people were always on the look out for her.
It wasn't easy for her as well. She never wanted to leave him though she firmly believed that she wasn't worth him. Reasons for her going away from his life were more than one. Though the primary reason was her feeling that he deserved better than a woman like her. Whatever reason it might be, she was afterall a prime accused in a murder. To add on to the list of issues surrounding her was that she was married once and her character was butchered mercilessly in public. She didn't want him to get associated with her name for an entire life time. She would have lived with him without a tag of love or marriage, serving him unconditionally, giving him everything he wanted or desired or her, mentally, physically and emotionally but a marriage was totally out of question. She strongly felt that a marriage to her would ruin him and scar his life and that social stigma, the bad name would never perish till she was with him. His mother was right. She was ruining her son's life and separating him from his family. Not just him, she was breaking the entire family to a point of no return.
There was another reason which was top most and that had made her hurry up her decision to leave. Just a day before, she had seen her husband and his aides searching and enquiring for her in and around their locality. Since Ishita hardly stepped outside the house, none had a clue about who she was and so the men hadn't traced her but she knew that her escape was temporary and her husband would return very soon for her. She wasn't scared of him but she was really worried that he would hurt Raman for helping her. She knew that man so well now. He was determined to catch her and if Raman stood in his way, he wouldn't hesitate a bit to...
Even the thoughts of causing harm to Raman shook her up with a blood curdling shrill. No she couldn't let that man even reach Raman. So she decided to go away and before that, she wanted to be owned by him, just once. She would treasure the memories of the night and that feeling of becoming his was enough to live her entire life. The movie and dinner plan from him came as a surprise advantage as he set the right mood for her to open up and step towards him in a bold manner. She knew that he was stunned by her words and gestures but she didn't mind to do anything for his sake.
He had made love to her in the most passionate manner, making her feel desired and loved. It was her most memorable night and left her in a blissful state. She felt alive for the first time in so many years. He made her feel alive and cherished her feminity, imparting into her that she was beautiful and most desirable. His proposal was another surprise though she had seen it coming but she didn't let that shake her decision to leave him.
It was with great restraint and difficulty that she had finally wriggled out of him after ensuring that he was in deep sleep.
She wiped her tears as she boarded the second class compartment of the train that was taking her away from him forever. She had decided it all in advance and she would have left him even if he hadn't proposed or made love to her.
Raman hadn't wasted a minute to analyze or find deeper meanings to her letter. The first thing he did was to call Mihir and asked him to find the location of her phone and he himself kept calling her continuously. In those few minutes of desperation, he was happy that he had the forethought to have got her a phone even when it wasn't needed as she hardly went out.
He prayed to God that she picked up his call once, just once. He also punched in several messages, pleading, commanding and back to begging her to come back to him.
He somehow felt that she wouldn't be able to keep herself fully detached from him now. Now that she had seen and felt his love for her, staying away from him wasn't that easy for her. He knew if he was so disturbed and lonely without her, it wouldn't be any better for her. She must be getting tortured and feeling like hell without him.
And it was right too. It was with a heavy heart that she ignored his calls and messages. She had forseen his desperate attempts to find her and had left him the letter but now she knew that it was a futile attempt to calm him. She longed to reach out to him and tell him that she was fine. She longed to pick the calls or reply him back telling him that she was going away and not to search for her, nor be so desperate. But she couldn't or rather didn't want to give in to that longing as she knew that one call or one message was enough to break her strong determination to go.
She had died a thousand deaths already without being able to run back to him. But no...she couldn't go back...She shouldn't become the black shadow of his life ever. She had to leave him for his sake.
Taking a deep breath, she took out the SIM card from her mobile phone and threw it out of the train window muttering, "I am sorry Raman...I have to go"
The train flew past leaving behind everything that could connect him to her.
After a few calls and messages, everything stopped. Something was wrong and MIhir confirmed his doubts saying that her phone was last used in Mumbai station and her sim's location was somewhere there. They had tried frantically to spot her but all went vain and there was little he could do to track her and stop her.
Strangely for him, anger was the last emotion he felt for her. Soon the anxiousness desperation, panic and agony over futile searches for her made him wear on a mask of madness. He didn't compromise on his work but piled in everything into it and started believing that she was still with him. He knew what his family wanted to do. He could understand their intentions to rid of Ishita's memories and flush her out of his system but no, he wasn't weak enough or vulnerable to allow that to happen. The crazy love and madness for Ishita was his reply to his family while on the other side, he kept his search for her intact. He was sure that some day, he would find her or she would come back.
Lakh Duniya Kahe, Tum Nahi Ho
Tum Yahin Ho, Tum Yahin Ho
Lakh Duniya Kahe, Tum Nahi Ho
Tum Yahin Ho, Tum Yahin Ho
Meri Har Soch Mein, Meri Har Baat Mein
Mere Ehsaas Mein, Mere Jazbaat Mein
Tum Hi Tum Ho, Tum Har Kahin Ho
Ho..
Lakh Duniya Kahe, Tum Nahi Ho
Tum Yahin Ho, Tum Yahin Ho
Ho..
Mihir and Neel were the only people who understood him as they had seen his love and realized that their Raman bhai was incomplete without their Ishita bhabi. Yes, in their mind, they were soulmates and marriage would just be a formal acknowledgement, an announcement of the same.
It was one routine morning when Raman woke up to the ringing of his phone. He lazily stretched out his arms in the aftermath of his dreamy love making to answer the call. It was from an unknown number.
"Hello" his husky voice send shrills of pleasure through her even today. She stayed silent, even catching hold of her breath as she feared that he would sense her even with her breath. Well she wasn't wrong but she wasn't right either. Even her silence could reach him and it could speak a million words to him.
"Ishita..." Was all she heard before she cut the call!
Her name from him was all she wanted to pull on some more days in her testing times. It seemed to give her a strength and a secured feeling.
While on the other side, Raman sat up sensing her silence and rightly judged that it was her and called her, "Ishita..."
Probably he had predicted that the line would go dead soon after and so didn't speak anything more. He kissed the phone feverishly like it was her feeble, quivering lips. It was something that he craved for and which could sooth off every pain in him.
Without letting his craving heart and emotions rule over his sane logical side, he punched MIhir's number anxiously after messaging him something.
"Yes that's the number...do whatever you want but just trace her"
He cut the call and kissed the phone once more before muttering, "I am not letting you go this time Ishita"
So Raman was right behind his Ishita and was determined to get her back to his life. So in this cat and mouse race, we can hope, wish and pray that the cat wins, thereby making both win.
