Kajol was 1st choice for Hum Dil, I guess it wasn't as dance based as it got to be when Aish was signed on. Stories change all the time. Black was originally a story about 2 stories, and Rani wasn't his first choice. But he changed it once he signed on Rani and Big B. So it's not so hard to fathom. He always initially wanted to work with Kajol or Madhuri--even manisha wasn't 1st choice for Khamoshi, and then he met Aish at some party and she ended up becomnig his muse.

Kajol didnt do Chalte Chalte because she was pregnant at the time. I read this somewhere.

None of them were huge losses, except for maybe Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. She really did have explosive chemistry with Salman, HDDCS wouldve been something else with these two!

No wait..the question is, do you even know what you are talking about??Kajol was the only actress from the 90s who made it big playing middle class roles, by being simple in an era when actresses were heavily made up and by wearing Shalwar Kameez. She was the first choice for all Eastern-ish roles.

If anything Nandani did not look middle class. Ashwariya looked like a model clad in Shalwar Kameez or Saari.

Kajol is fine actress but I'd don't think these films were offered to her as she cannot look like those characters which needed such extra beautiful heroines, moreover kajol never gave hits on her own. It was always with superstar heroes only like srk etc. Her films like toonpur superhero etc flopped as well.

Although still her choice with film as were majorly nice. Still I don't think she will be successful in hero less film just like Kangana, Vidya, Rani or Priyanka who proved themselves with hero less films. They are independent of heroes now. They can hit the films by themselves without any famous hero.

Anyway, I liked kajol with aamir, srk, salman(although disliked their movie), I don't remember her working with other heroes. Fanaa was one of the best film of her with Aamir.
