19/9 - Fighting back!

I wrote an entire update but my line got disconnected. Am writing a fresh one now and will keep editing this post.

We're back in the business of writing updates 😊. The episode started with Naina thanking Major Bhargav for allowing her to see her brother's cell. He replies that he will not let her forget this 'favour' and then informs Huda that he has to spend one more week in isolation. Naina encourages Huda by saying 'himmat rakh' but Major Bhargav interrupts her and says that himmat rakhne ke liye himmat chahiye. That is something none of them have, especially her, since she is a coward's sister. He proceeds to make further unpleasant remarks about Naveen. Naveen's voiceover meanwhile informs the audience that while Naina had heard him called 'gadaar', she was hearing him called 'kaayar' for the first time. The thought uppermost in her mind was if it was worthwhile sacrificing one's life for the country.

Meanwhile, Ali is still going to pieces in the hospital room. Slwoly, he gathers himself together and goes to the dying man and holds his bloodshot hand. He tells him that Major Bhargav is playing with his life because he wants Ali to beg for mercy. 'Par hum aisi naubat aane hi nahi denge'. He tells him that he has to trust him, they will get out of this situation, thats a soldier's promise. The man opens his eyes wide and indicates his sanction for whatever Ali does.

Naveen's voiceover comes back to tell the audience that one of Naina's friends had figured out that Major Bhargav was trying to break them mentally and not physically. This is Yudi. He pretends to be sleepy and gets under the blankets to escape the surveillance cameras. He uses the mobile to figure out escape routes from the detention centre. But he realises that any action is impossible as long as the cameras are focussed on them. He uses the mobile's wireless network to disable the camera in his room, in Major Bhargav's office, the screen goes blank. (Yeh ho nahi sakta par lrl se lekar Hollywood spy movies tak, this is done everywhere, so its ok!) He asks Anil Mehta to adjust the monitor. (Is this what Gujaratis do in the army?! No wonder there are so few of us there)

Naina meanwhile is utterly frustrated and starts hitting the wall of her room. She goes on and on and on until the sound alerts the gaurds of the detention centre and they take her away.

Meanwhile, Abhi hums 'Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya' (pehle bhi kiya tha!) and gets into Major Nair's room. (Can he always wear a black shirt and blue jeans, please... pretty please?!) He looks for possible places to plant a bug in Major Nair's office. (the computer keypad, really?) Waise aaj ek hi episode mein yeh sab kitne technologically sophisticated ho gaye na?... waah, waah. While he is at it, Major Nair is approaching the room and the scene ends on Abhi's startled face.

We're back to Major Bhargav's room. The monitor that allows him to look at Yudi's room is still not working, hence he gets up to go check whats up. Meanwhile, Yudi has arranged a bunch of pillows to look like a sleeping figure, and enables the network he had disbaled. Major Bhargav is at the door, when Anil Mehta cries out 'Its back'. He turns around, still suspicious. But before he can follow that thought up, his attention is caught by what is happening on the monitor that looks into the hospital room and at Ali.

Ali looks continuously at the screen and smiles, daring Major Bhargav to do his utmost. It is a game of who will blink first. Will Major Bhargav let a man die, that too in front of witnesses? This is after all a government job and he is answerable to an enquiry, if any, if ever. Anil Mehta keeps asking for a doctor. The two men keep staring at each other and ultimately Major Bahrgav has to back down and medical aid is sent to the dying man.

Abhi meanwhile has not been caught and has planted the bug successfully. He overhears Major Nair's conversation with 'sir'. Major Nair informs 'sir' that the cadets are at the detention centre and Major Bahrgav has been briefed as to how to deal with them. During his conversation, he keeps drumming the pen on the penstand and that intereferes with Abhi's listening since the bug is hidden in the penstand. At the end of the conversation, Abhi has a half smile and determined eyes - a start has been made. They're all fighting back, each in their own ways!

Naina has been taken to the infirmary and her hand is bandaged. Finding herself alone, however, she tiptoes out of the place.

Yuid meanwhile has successfully evaded all cameras and is walking on his own in the detention centre. He thinks that it is time for man to be pitted against machine. He hears two gaurds walk past and hides. The gaurds discuss that no one can escape the cameras (very obvious irony, since the audience knows Yudi is right there) The second gaurd then asks the first one 'duty pe scotch?' (Yes people thats the word the censors beeped out, its a kind of whiskey, tastes horrible, and is not worth the effort to get it or the money it costs - if you show an alcoholic character and never beep the word sharaab, then no point beeping scotch) The first one tells him that this is not for his own self but for Aalekh. The second gaurd then asks him if the rumours about 'milawat' are true. The first gaurd says that they are and that whoever consumes this Scotch would be out for 12 hours. Yudi imagines a happy Aalekh drinking this and the disastrous consequences that could follow. He decides that he is not going to let his friend fall prey to this plan - after all, they're family.

Major Bhargav is thinking aloud what to do about this newly strong adversary: Cadet Ali Baig. Suddenly there's a knife at his throat and he is told 'Tell you what... you will not do anything to Ali. Or to any of the other cadets. Or i'll show you what a coward can do'. It is, of course, Naina. (Now where did she get that knife?Considering the mental condition she is in, she should have no access to anything that could be used as a weapon) The episode ends mirroring the beginning: its Naina and Major Bhargav again, but this time she's holding a knife to his throat and threatening him. Way to go, girl!

Precap: The next thing on the cards is Dr. Shalini's visit to the detention centre, with Brigadier Chandok's letter to medically examine the cadets. Major Bhargav has to agree but tries to complicate it with the rules of the detention cente.

Will Yudi be able to help Aalekh in time or will he be found out in the process? What will Major Bhargav do to get Naina's knife off his throat? What special treatment does he have in mind for the newly resolute Ali? And will Abhi discover the identity of 'sir' this week or next? Watch this space. 😛

i missed today's epi whynotty - but thx for update. so the cadets r having plans to retaliate. good. the epis r advancing slowly but surely will get interesting by the day. this time they have no rajveer to help them. so let us whether they can escape from bhargav's clutches or not!!

nice update whynot.. I also could visualise the episode, gaurav in black shirt and blue jeans with a startled face, gaurav humming' main zindagi ka saath' , drumming the pen with penstand and his face with half smile and determined eyes.... but video is still not available... so I will keep myself happy only with imagination !! 😆 ....and your writeup is very much to the point, on track and that too without going too long... dun I always tell you that you are a good writer... that too without prompting !... keep it up ..
