Part two

Manyata stood dumbfounded at the door, she didn't know what to do and Uday smiled when he heard her say his name...he was standing outside her room with a bouquet of fresh flowers...

Manyata: I'll call you back...

Komal: ok, take care

End of call

Manyata stared stupidly at him as if she saw a different him...he looked so much happier and calm and she couldn't help but admire his smile...

Uday: aren't you going to invite me in?

Manyata's trail of thoughts was broken...

Manyata: yea, come in...

He walked in with a sweet smile while he looked around...

Uday: nice room...

Manyata: umm, thanks

She sat on the bed while he stood in front of her...

Manyata: you can sit!

Uday: thank you...(he sat on the couch) umm...these are for you (he handed her the bouquet)

Manyata: thank you... (she took the bouquet and immediately placed it away from her)

Uday: actually, I'm sorry...I didn't mean to trouble you or be rude but I can't seem to figure out why I behaved the way I did, myself...

Manyata: it's ok, I understand...

Uday: yea and you forgot this book when you left...(he handed her the book which she happily took)

Manyata: thank you so much...

Uday: the flowers are fresh, I promise and as far as I know, they are not poisonous so you can smell it if you want...

Manyata: I know, it's just that I'm allergic to these flowers...

She sneezed ...he immediately moved the flowers away from her

Uday: I'm so sorry, I had no idea...

Manyata: it's ok...(she sneezed) I understand (she sneezed) plus, how were you supposed to... (she sneezed) know

Uday: shit, you're going red! Do you have tablets or something that you could take?

Manyata: I (she sneezed) I had the last one (she sneezed) this morning...

She started scratching her neck...

Uday: shit, is there a chemist on this ship?

Manyata: on the second (she sneezed) floor...

Uday: what is the name for the tablets?

Manyata: it's in that (she sneezed) draw (she pointed at the third draw at the bottom)

Uday opened the draw and took the bottle out

Uday: this one?

Manyata nodded and before she knew it, she sneezed again...

Uday ran towards the door, stopped and looked back: I'll be back now...

He went to the elevator and waited for what seemed ages and growing impatient, he ran down the four flight of stairs and went to the chemist...

When he got the medication, he didn't want to waste time by waiting for the elevator so he ran up the stairs...

He stood outside her room and knocked for the past two minutes but she didn't open it, he started to panic a bit and knocked harder and before he knew it...

Uday: Manyata! Manyata, are you ok?

She made her way to the door from the bathroom, she opened it and within seconds he was in... he didn't wait for her to take the medication herself and poured a glass water and gave it to her with one tablet...

She smiled at him and took the tablet and the glass of water from his hand...

He felt horrible and she could see it in his eyes so she signaled him by shaking her head in a no...Uday was shocked, it was like she read his mind...

She started shivering and this did not go unnoticed by Uday, he made her lie down on the bed while he covered her but she was still cold and then noticing that the door was still open, he went and closed it... before she knew it, she drifted off to sleep leaving Uday with nothing to do and no one to talk too but he couldn't help but admire her angelic beauty...

It was two in the morning when Manyata had woke up and looked around to find a figure sleeping on the couch...when she looked carefully, she was surprised to see that it was none other than Uday which made her smile...

Manyata's thoughts: I guess I had never really understood him, he isn't as bad as I had him pinned down to be, he is much sweeter and I appreciate that...

Her stomach was paining...

Manyata's thoughts: I'm so hungry...what do I do now, everyone are most probably sleeping then what am I going to do? I'll go and check and if there's anything, I'll be able to eat and if there's nothing, I'll have to starve...what about Uday? I don't want to wake him up but I don't know if he ate anything...oh gosh! What do I do? (after much thought) I'll go and come back with some food, he wouldn't notice that I'm gone...yea, that's what I'll do...

Manyata tried to sit up but couldn't: ahh!

Uday immediately woke up and rushed to her aid, he helped her sit up and sat on the floor beside her...

Uday: do you need something?

Manyata nodded

Uday: what do you need?

Manyata was feeling a bit embarrassed: umm, I'm hungry

Uday chuckled: I knew that you were going to feel hungry so I ordered room service but the food might have gone a bit cold now...

Uday stood up and went behind the couch and pulled out two trays of food

Manyata was shocked...

Manyata's thoughts: I thought that he was a self centered jerk but it turns out that he is one of the sweetest men that I ever knew...

This made her feel extremely guilty for judging his character and she put her head down in disgrace...

Uday saw the change in her and held out the plate for her to take but she didn't...

Uday: what's wrong?

Manyata: nothing...

Uday: I know that something is wrong so would you care to share it with me as a friend?

Manyata: I'm feeling guilty...

Uday: guilty? Why are you feeling guilty? (he was mixing some food)

Manyata: I kind of judged your character but you turned out to be the total opposite...

Uday: a huh, so it that a good thing or a bad thing?

Manyata looked up and smiled : I guess it's a good thing because...

Uday didn't let her finish her sentence as he shoved a hand full of food into her mouth...Manyata was left with no other choice other than to swallow it...

Manyata: did you eat?

Uday: yea...

Manyata: what? A chocochino muffin and a cup of coffee?

Uday smiled: how do you know?

Manyata laughed: I just know... (she ended with a wink)

She mixed a bit of food and looked at him...

Manyata: come here...

Uday looked at her confused but moved a bit closer...

Manyata: how, I'm not going to bite!

He chuckled and came a bit closer...

Manyata: how old are you?

Uday was about to say something but she shoved the food down his throat causing him to put covered his mouth with his hand as a reflex...

Uday: so you gave me a taste of my own medicine...

Manyata chuckled: well, I am a fast learner...

Uday smiled: you know, it's been so long since someone actually fed me by hand

Manyata smiled: you know, I would have said that but it would be a lie, if you come to my house, my mother will feed everyone by hand if she has too...the last time my friend came home, he told me that he is never going to come again but he still does...but he only comes home so that my mother can feed him, he says that he loves the feeling...that reminds me, I haven't seen him since this morning...

Uday: I see...so did you take after your mother?

Manyata: I wish...I mean, I do possess some of her qualities but I just can't be as good as her...

Uday: everyone says that about their mum but I guess that's just the good feeling when you have a mum around (his smile became scarce, this was well noticed by Manyata)

Uday: I was two years old when she died so I never really had a mother's love...

Manyata: I'm so sorry...

Uday: well, I guess I never really felt it because I was quite small and plus I had my dad who tried to give me both a mother's and father's love but that obviously means that he can't cook as well as a mother would but it was fine... The only time that I really felt it was when I was in primary school and my friend's mothers would come to receive them and when the teachers used to ask for my parents name...but as time went, I started to understand and I never really felt it so bad...

Manyata gave him a hug which he could help but reciprocate, it's something he needed, the few tears that had started to fill in his eyes started to flow out...she tried her best to comfort him...

Manyata: now, let's try and amend that mistake... (she moved away)

Uday looked at her confused until he noticed her mixing the food and bringing it close to his mouth...and indicated by nodding her head to eat...which he did after he mixed some food and brought it closer to her mouth...they fed each other until they knew that they were full...

After they ate, they were sitting and talking...

Uday: Do you know Udayveer Singh?

Manyata shook her head in disapproval...

Manyata: Do you know Manyata Singhania?

Uday: Nope

Together: Was I supposed to know that person?

They both nodded

Both: I am that person...

They both laughed...

Manyata: you know, you're really not as bad as I thought you to be...

Uday looked at her confused: not that bad?

Manyata smiled in a naughty way: well, you didn't let me finish my sentence earlier so I don't know if I should tell you...

Uday: please do tell

Manyata: Actually I will because it will help me get rid of the heavy burden...

Uday muttered: burden?

Manyata looking down: well, you see, I judged you the very first day I met you...(she then looked at him)

Uday nodded for her to proceed...

Manyata: I didn't like you the very first day I met you, I felt that you were a rude, annoying, irritating, spoilt, self-centered jerk who cared about no one but himself

Uday looked astonished: wow, so much for me?

Manyata playfully pushed him and he acted as if he really got hurt and fell down, holding his stomach...

Manyata: but I have to admit, I was wrong and I'm glad I was wrong...

Uday sat up: good (he stood up and made his way to the door) I'll be taking your leave know but don't think that you have got rid of me or that I won't be back to trouble you later... (he winked before closing the door with a smile)

Manyata smiled, she liked him, he was different but in a good way...

Uday was standing outside her room door with a smile on his face...

Uday: I told her the things that I didn't want to tell anyone...not even dad! I don't know why but I trust her... (he made his way to the elevator and waited for it) why did I get so worked when she had an allergic reaction? Why does my heart beat faster around her...why?

When he went inside, he noticed an old couple talking to each other and couldn't help but over hear their conversation...

Man: since it's our anniversary, I think I should tell you something that I hid many years ago...

Women looked up at him...

Man: when I first met you, I fell in love with you, my heart seemed to beat faster when I was around you and sometimes it felt as if my heart skipped a beat... I told you many things that I refused to tell anyone and I was willing to do anything just for you...

Red circles formed on either side of the old lady's face as a form of blush...she hid her face down in embarrassment and tried to indicate to her husband - through her eyes that they weren't alone but the old man just smiled...

Uday started sweating and he was finding it hard to breath, he immediately stopped the elevator and ran out...

Uday took deep breaths in order to calm his mind because he couldn't believe his ears...

Uday stood still: no ways, I am not in love!

Manyata walked past him with a smile and he ran after, when he touched he touched her shoulder he knew that something was wrong...when she turned around, it wasn't her...

Uday was shocked: sorry, I thought you were someone else

Lady: you must be deeply in love if you can see her in just anyone...

Uday left without saying a word further...

Uday's thoughts: Shit, what's wrong with me? Am I going mad? No, I can't be in love with Manyata...I hardly even know her! Maybe I just need to stay away from her until I can figure out what's happening to me...

Manyata had a shower and came out when she received a call...

Komal: Manyata, how are you? You said that you will phone me back but you didn't and...Where's Aryan? Did something happen? I knew, I told you not to go on the ship but you never listen to me... (she was interrupted by Manyata)

Manyata: Mom, mom, slow down, everything is fine, I had an allergic reaction yesterday but I'm fine now...

Komal: are you ok?

Manyata: yes mom, I'm fine and believe it or not, I have to thank Udayveer for that... (Manyata was applying lotion on her body)

Komal was completely confused: the guy you called a jerk?

Manyata in a defending tone: he isn't a jerk... (this made Komal suspicious)

Komal: what's going on?

Manyata smiling: he isn't so bad...

Komal: no, what's going on?

Manyata: what are you talking about?

Komal: are you in love with Udayveer?

Manyata in a defending toe: no ways mom, he's just a good friend!

Komal teasingly: just a good friend or a boy friend?

Manyata: mom, he isn't my boyfriend!

Komal's smile broadened: now when did I say that?

Manyata: just now!

Komal: I was saying that he is a boy and he is your friend

Manyata was quite and Komal's happiness knew no bounds...

Manyata: oh, ok

Komal teasingly : why, what did you think I meant?

Manyata: nothing... I've got to go...

Komal: love you and a small piece of friendly advice, own up to your feelings soon or you might end up losing him...

Manyata: bye mom...

Komal: bye sweety...

Manyata smiled: mom, is too much!

It was lunchtime when Manyata had gone to the dinning room and sat in the same place as yesterday when she noticed that Uday entered...

Manyata's thoughts: mom is wrong, I don't love him...he's just a good friend...(she reaffirmed her thoughts) yea, that's what he is...he's actually walking this way after I told him about what I had thought of him, this shows that he isn't a bad person...(she smiled and he smiled back)

But he walked past her and back hugged the girl behind her...

Uday: hey Shalini...

Shalini: hey babes, long time no see... (she turned around and encircled her arms around his neck while he held her waist)

Uday: I know darling, what can I say...I'm a busy man

Shalini: pushed him a bit: I know what you mean by busy, so who was it this time?

Uday smirked: guess?

Shalini: Rachel?

Uday shook his head...

Shalini: Michelle?

Uday shook his head...

Shalini: Don't tell me Charne?

Uday sook his head once again...

Uday: you know, you're pretty bad when it comes to guessing...

Shalini: but I'm good with everything else (she winked and he smiled in approval)

Manyata was shocked and disgusted with what she was listening to and seeing and immediately left the dinning room...

Manyata was lying on her bed in the room

Manyata: I can't believe that I made friends with such a creep...but why does it sting me if he's with Shalini (mimicking her name) I barely even know him yet when he was hugging her, I felt like a knife had been stabbed into my heart...why, what's happening to me? (tears made their way in her eyes and then down her cheeks, she wiped her face with her bare hand and looked at it) why am I crying? What if mom was right? No, no...it can't be love! Love is...

Uday: ...full of fake promises! (he sat down in frustration)

Shalini: you're wrong Uday, I can see the love in your eyes for her...the way you looked at her when she left said it all

Flashback

Manyata was making her way out of the dinning room and Uday couldn't stop but look at her retreating figure... he moved away from Shalini and made his way to the table where Manyata was sitting and when Manyata was out of sight, he sat in the in the seat that was occupied by Manyata...

End of flashback

Shalini: there was a sense of longing, passion and fear...

Uday: that's the problem, fear...that's why I don't want to fall in love!

Shalini sat down next to him: it's too late, whether you accept it or not, you have fallen for her and if I were you, I'll own up soon before it's too late... (she stood up and was making her way out)

Uday: thanks for helping me at the dinning room...

Shalini turned around and smiled at him: pleasure but thank me when your love story turns out to be the best thing in your life...(she left Uday in deep thought when she made her way out)

Aryan had gone to visit Manyata...

Aryan: hey Manu, please open the door (while knocking on the door)

Manyata smiled to herself: who is it? (she said it in a teasing manner while standing by the door...)

Aryan: you forgot me so quickly...never mind, open the door and you will remember me...

Manyata opened the door and examined him from top to bottom

Manyata in a serious tone: I'm pretty sure that I've seen you somewhere but I can't seem to figure out where...

Aryan: I'm trying to figure out the same thing...do you mind if I come in?

Manyata: I'm sorry but I don't allow strangers to enter my room...

Aryan: then let's not be strangers any longer...my name is Aryan and I'm your bf and I'm two years older than you and you are?

Manyata with pride: Miss Manyata Singhania...

Aryan: it would be a pleasure to know you better so won't you invite me in?

Manyata: I'll have to think about that, you see...especially for people like you who like to disappear! (She tried to shut the door on his face but he was strong so he pushed his way in)

Aryan: Mani, I'm sorry yaar... ab toh maaf kardo...(he held his ears)

Manyata: sorry? Do you know that mom phoned and she asked for you...

Aryan: and what did you say? (making himself comfortable on the couch)

Manyata: I avoided that question...

Aryan: I'm sorry, please forgive me...I promise that I ll do that again... (and within seconds he ran to the other side of the room)

Manyata was shocked and angry: what kind of an apology was that?

Aryan in a mocking way; don't judge, I learnt it from you!

She started throwing cushions on him while he tried and dodged them...

Finally after a while, they both gave up and laughed because of all the funny faces Aryan made while dodging the cushions...

Aryan came and gave her a big hug...

Aryan: I'm so sorry sweety, it won't happen again... I'll stay with you until we reach home safely...

Manyata broke the hug and looked him in the eye: promise?

Aryan: of course, promise...now can I have a nice hug?

Manyata smiled : yes (she hugged him)

Unknown to them, there was a third person present at that precisious moment who was observing each and every action...
