Rohan was in bed in the Birla guest room waiting to see if she would come to him he smiled as he remembered her she was quite a feisty creature ever ready to pick a fight and ever ready to believe her loved one's lies. He didn't knew whether to tell her to use her god given brains or protect her half the time that he was with her she exasperated him, made him mad and made him laugh and he just loved being in her company. Certain times he was amazed at her carefree-ness and then other times he would be sad to see her draw inwards she was a beautiful, intelligent, mad girl and seeing her live in the Birla House was like watching a caged bird. She went out of her way for those morons while they insulted, taunted and didn't care for her feelings but she always saw the best in them. He had rightly given her the name Mother India she mothered them all as if they were 5 year olds especially her Prince Charming. He frowned then thinking about the non-existing, existing relationship where they friends, where they husband and wife or where they nothing he could just not tell but one thing he did know was that all relationships between them would have to end to begin.
Just then he heard the door opening slowly and he smiled and covered his head knowing who it would be, Suhani put on the lights and saw Rohan covered and knew he was probably pretending to sleep. It was only 11 at night he was a night owl always a bundle of energy and always awake wanting to create trouble. That what had gotten them to be friends it had been a days after Yuvraj had been released Ma had wanted her to stay on in the house until she got back as she had taken ill and so once again she had an excuse to stay her even though it hurt her. She found herself at the fountain a lot at night as she couldn't sleep and most times Rohan would be there fighting with her and irritating her and she would always be losing her cool with him. Certain times she would just want to be alone but there he was taunting her, asking her questions that she didn't want to answer, making her think of things she didn't want to think about. When she was with him she felt backed into a corner on one side she remembered all she had seen and heard from everyone the last few months and then there was him. She just wanted to forget what had happened but each day she was with him it became his daily routine to prick at her wounds and she had started to hate him.
She smiled as remembered the fight that had changed everything for them she had gone to see her parents and was waiting for Yuvraj to pick her up but dadi kept him back and Rohan came for her. Whilst going back home his car had broken down and whilst they were waiting for it to be fixed he had started his usual nonsense of irritating her. How do u manage with every relationship that u have in life being fake and how do u tolerate all the lies and she said we all do things we regret and she wanted to move on he told her she wanted to cover up everyone sins and act like they were the people she thought they were. Have you truly forgiven everyone and she said yes friendship was everything to her and he butted in and told her she was a liar how can u forgive a person when u refuse to acknowledge they did anything to you? You just moved on to the next time your best friend betrays you and you forgive her as if she had messed up your toy. And then there is u and Prince Charming and she said stop not another word me and him are off limits to you. But he didn't stop and said so he didn't love you, was forced to be with you, was in love with your best friend and you would wait for eternity for him to find out whether he was in love with you? She said enough but he continued and said what love to wait for a person to love you, even if they take forever, wow that is true love. And here I thought that love was seeing a person, getting to know their qualities and falling for them. Suhani clutched her hands and closed her eyes and said enough stop, stop pushing me. But he continued and said are you really going to take him back and then everything would go back to being perfect, everything back to normal perfect fairy tale. And you would just pretend that what he always loved you, he didn't love your best friend and everything was perfect between u guys? She couldn't take it anymore and she slapped him and screamed shut up, just shut up Suhani was shocked at her behavior and walked away from him. But his words where in her head the more she remembered his words, the more she wanted to block out everything because it was true she did want to just pretend that no lies had been told to her and that Yuvraj had always loved her and their relationship was true and her friendship with souyma was the same as it had always been pure and innocent.
Rohan followed her and saw her sitting on a bench and felt bad as he watched the tears fall from her eyes he wanted to bring her into his arms and tell her everything was going to be ok, he didn't know why he wanted to make her see that her goodness was being taken advantage of and wanted her to truly confront the truth about her life. At that moment he felt stripped he had seen her being strong even after being told the worst thing by dadi and ragmen and to see her in tears he didn't know why it affected him and he felt out of his element. He couldn't come up with a joke or a tactic at that moment and he went to her and touched her shoulder and said sorry I had gone too far I guess I wanted to know whether you going to go back to him if he was in love with you. And he was shocked when she said no and even more so, Suhani herself was shocked when she heard herself say it and she realized in that moment that it was true she wouldn't go back to him now. And said u know no one ever asked me what I wanted ma wants me to be with him, sharad wants me to be with him, dadi doesn't want me to be with him. But me there are moments when everything is clear I see our relationship clearly we are just friends, he sees me in that way only and I am ok with it. And then there are times when I am not ok with it, I want him to love me, I want to scream and ask him why not me and will it ever be, desperate right? I don't know how I will live without him but for how long will I continue like this, in limbo waiting for him to love me or to realize that he doesn't love me. They were quite then and he said certain times we need to recognize that relationships change and we need to move on with it, you say u want to move on so really move on whole heartedly. They heard the mechanic calling them and Rohan stood up and gave his hand to Suhani and Suhani looked at him and slowly put her hand in his and when it was she just felt so much warmth and reassurance and she smiled at him feeling safe for the 1st time in months.

She laughed and said sleep and you don't go together and u lost the chess game that you said you would never lose so time for you to fulfill your side of the bet and he said ok on one condition you have to do it for me.

Rohan smiled as he watched her and then got out of bed and followed her he watched as she took out the scissor, shaving cream and shaving machine. He smiled and then took out his shirt and as she turned she walked into his naked chest and was about to fall and he grabbed her and brought her closer to him. Suhani's hands where on his shoulders. They stared into each another's eyes and then she slowly moved away and there was an awkward silence between them and she said sit and I would start. He sat on the chair and he started pretending to be in aguish and about to cry and Suhani felt sorry for him and laughed and said its ok I was just joking about u shaving and cutting your hair I just wanted to see your expression when u where about to get it done. He looked at her and said how mean Mother India I did not expect this from you and suhani laughed and said that's coz of being influenced by u I have gotten mean and he smiled at her. And said u not getting out of doing this though actually I loved changing my hair style and color every 3 months and grabbed the dye he had gotten and asked her green, purple or blue Suhani couldn't take it and started laughing even harder and said none and said black and he said Mother India why are u so boring and she smiled and took the scissor and started cutting his hair and he asked if she ever did this before and she said no but there is a 1st time for everything and it looks like lots of fun and he groaned in agony. Then she got the shaving cream and spread it on his face and she slowly starting shaving his face and then they stared at each another and after she was done she got a towel and wet it and wiped his face.
