It was around 9 in the morning. The sun hid itself behind the clouds. The cold breeze accompanied with a slight drizzle made it nothing more than perfect for a long drive or a romantic walk.

A women in her late twenties clad in a bright orange skirt till her ankle and a white top with a colorful neck piece showing her incredible choice of dressing, was sitting by her bedroom window staring into no where. She held a mug filled with steaming coffee in one hand and the day's Newspaper in other which read

"BUSINESS TYCOON AND ONE OF THE BEST JOURNALISTS EVER MR.KABIR SHARMA IS TYING THE KNOT NEXT MONTH BREAKING THE HEARTS OF MILLIONS OF GIRLS"

Just then she was startled by the shrill ring of her phone kept next to her. It was her Mom, she never missed to check if her daughter had breakfast before leaving to work.

"Hi Maa"

"Hi Beta! Had Breakfast?"

"No maa, will have it now"

"Ananya it's already 9. You are getting late for work and then you will skip your breakfast" her mother complained.

"What it's already 9. Ok Maa bye, i'm getting late and i promise i'll not skip breakfast" and she hung the call.

Ithi jaldi Nau baj gaye. No Ananya you are not letting this guy affect you anymore she told herself and left to work without any idea of how her life was going to change in just few more days.

Eager for the next

It took about half-an-hour for Ananya to reach office.

The huge glass building stood against the warm sun and the drizzle reflecting ts beauty.

Fourteenth Floor the speaker said as the doors of the lift opened. Everyone greeted her as she entered the office. She greeted back with a sweet smile as always. As she walked through, her eyes fell on Richa's empty chair.

She remembered that Richa had gone to India the previous week due to some emergency in her family.

Lekin woh toh aaj wapas aane wali thi she thought and headed towards her cabin.

were the words engraved on the glass door of her cabin. Even though She had achieved success at a very young age, she never let it get to her head. It was her humble and down to earth nature that attracted everyone.

As she entered the cabin and settled on her huge white leather chair she switched on her laptop.

The sight of her cabin had the power to take away one's breath. It was a huge white colored cabin with a beautiful glass table in the center of the room with a classy white adjoining side table. Her laptop in middle of the table, a pen stand in one corner and a few files which were waiting for her to read them on the other end. Above the table hanging from the roof was a projector pointing towards its screen on her right side, below which was a small white cabinet table with few devices for the projector and a vase with Calla lilys on the corner adding beauty to the already elegant room. Behind the center table at a distance was another small white cabinet table leaning against a one-way glass wall. The serene and captivating view through the glass often became Ananya's escape from reality.

The Laptop beeped asking her which user account she would want to log in from. She logged in through 'Ananya'. She rarely used the other one named 'Kaya'. She got so involved in her work that she din't notice how time flew by.

It was around 2 pm.

"Aaj bhooka hi rehne ka irada hain kya?" Richa said entering the cabin

Her voice had startled Ananya, who was busy working on her laptop

"Tu kab aayi?" Ananya said giving her a hug

"Main to subah 10:30 hi pahunch gayi thi. Dekha ki madam kaam mein bahut busy hain, isiliye disturb nahi kiya. Par aur wait nahi hoga yaar, bahut bhook lag rahi hain. Do baj gaye hain. Chal lunch karte hain"

"Kya ithi jaldi do baj gaye. Time ka dhyan hi nahi raha. Ha chal lunch karte hain"

Both the besties were having their food when Ananya had asked

"Ab toh bata hua kya tha? Achanak India Kyun jana pada tujhe?"

"Dadiji ko second heart attack hua tha aur Doctors ne kaha ki bachne ke chances kam the. Tu toh janti hain na ki main apni dadi se kitni attached hoon. Isiliye chali gayi. Par Bhagan ka Shukra hain ki woh bach gayi. But apna emotional drama shuru kar diya ki 'pata nahi aur kitne din zinda rahungi. Marne se pehle teri shadi dekhna chahthi hoon' main ne bahut try kiya convince karne, par woh maani hi nahi. Maine bhi socha ki its a good time for marriage and if there's a good match then harz hi kya hain and you know Guess what?" she said with excitement

Ananya looked at her questioningly

"Dad ke friend ka beta hain. I fell for him on our very first meet. And we got engaged the next day. Agle mahine shadi hain"

Ananya almost choked at her statement

" Tu ek hi mulakath mein kaise decide kar sakthi hain ki woh banda tere liya correct hain ki nahi. Kaise decide kar sakti hain ki puri zindagi tu uske saath bitana chahthi hain?" she almost screamed

"Banda ache family se hain, well-settled hain aur kya chahiye."

"par.." before she could complete Richa cut her in between

"Acha baba listen I'm engaged to THE KABIR SHARMA" saying that she flaunted her engagement ring.

Ananya was speechless. It felt like her whole world had come to an end once again.

"Dekha naam batate hi bolti band ho gayi na madam. Mujhe bahut kaam niptane hain, main chalthi hoon bye"

Mera Kabir, mere best friend se shaadi kar raha hain. How can he do this? she murmured

The day passed by in no time. She drove back to her house, absentmindedly had her dinner and was laying in her bed when Richa's words echoed in her head

"I'm engaged to THE KABIR SHARMA"

Her mind went back to the day when she first met him.

11 years ago...
