It was an exclusive charity event September 9, is a date that Aadesh Shrivastava is unlikely to forget. On that evening, he performed live on stage with Colombian entertainer Shakira and American rapper Wyclef Jean at an uppercrust club and restaurant in Toronto, Canada. Aadesh described it as an exhilarating evening. It was an exclusive charity event called One By One Life Belongs To Everyone. We performed a fusion track called Bollywood Meets Hollywood for an august gathering. In the audience we had people like Matt Damon, Phil Fontaine, super-model/activist Petra Nemcova and athlete Kevin Lin. On stage, it was Shakira, Wyclef and me jamming the night away, he said. Added Aadesh, The ovation I got was unprecedented. Though Shakira had come to Mumbai this year, I met her for the first time in Toronto. She's very down-to-earth and hard working. After the show, Shakira and Aadesh were at a charity dinner where she showered praises on him. She had some very nice things to say. I think Indian music is finally coming into its own in the West. My album with Wyclef Jean tentatively titled Carnival will be out in November. I've done ragas, alaaps and many Indian rhythms for it. I'm hoping Lataji will contribute some alaaps in the album, he added. |
