Apu always tells me a good or bad performance is not the actors fault but the way she is directed and I agree to an extent 1 can clearly see in the behind the scenes segment that neha is being directed to give vomit worthy expressions as snaky. But I believe even though that is true an actor is one who brings something to the table which is above just direction which makes their performance unique to them. That's why I say even though neha is being directed in her scenes for me she doesn't give of anything which makes her character unique to her that's why some1 could replace her and it wnt matter to me. Bt what is happening with rajshri is a bit of both here, her problem is belief, direction and most importantly comfortability. The reason she did so well in the beginning is that she enjoyed her character, she believed in her character and that showed onscreen. Let's admit it that we watched a character last year for months not realising that anything was wrong with a love marriage that hadn't been consummated yet we found her acting kind of believable even though we thought the storyline was crap. So the unrealness of a scene is not relevant. Bt rajshri problem is when she doesn't believe in something that suhani is doing she immediately disconnects and is being totally directed like a minion and worse I think she is deliberately sabotages the character. That scene in the car after being nearly raped yes that was what she had to perform but she was cringe worthy she was a bit loud and made the scene so much worse then what she. and now Fridays and Saturdays episode where she had to be sad about Yuvraj. there was absolutely nothing there she was faking it, who would have believed that she supposedly was in love with Yuvraj it was totally unreal. the problem with her is coz of the fight she is having with Sahil its affecting her performance with him. but in the same 2 episodes u watch her scenes with the others and her acting and character is fine( even with snaky😕 🤢 ) but u can clearly see that something is not right with her when she is opposite sahil. Sahil's performance is fine his performance has not been affected by whatever is happening to them but Rajshri might be too transparent and she isn't aware that her uncomfortability with him is showing on screen. for me one of the things that is most important is comfort ability with a person once I lose comfortabilty with some1 I can not be comfortable with that person no matter what. and we always worry about sahil leaving my fear is she might leave before him coz she seems to want to do scenes only which she connects too and the people she connects too which isn't very good.
Yeah, you're right. She was good even in that bedroom scene where she asked him why he hadn't told her the truth, and in many others. I think I'm tired of the sad expression. And you may be right that she disconnects--remember Sahil said that too, in one of their ivs, that sometimes she needs to be pushed to give her best. And Sahil isn't doing that now, and don't know if the other actors are bothered enough to point out that she's lacking that IT factor sometimes.
I think Sahil too is not at his best. He's coping better with whatever the situation is, but in their interactions he avoids her if possible and concentrates more on Sharad, who's kind of like a buffer, I feel. When he has to address her directly, it's a very bland outcome, not saying he's bad, but something's missing. Or the director is doing this purposely, I don't know.
Sometimes you just articulate so well--I know what you mean about the comfort factor. Here, they've not only lost the comfort factor, but they're burdened with some awkward factor.
I am quite worried. I feel Sahil can
afford to leave, Rajshri is not from such a comfortable background, so she'll think twice. But the main onus is on the cvs. Not only are they failing to sort out whatever's happened, though I don't know how they can unless these two want to listen, but their story development is not helping either. Or so I feel. together, these factors are making for a disaster.
