"Can we please have a moment alone?" he politely asked the doctor giving a helpless look to which she walked out for a moment.

"Ishita..." he turned to her as they were left alone.

"Raman I don't want to be alone." She clutched onto his hand as she asked him not to leave.

"How can I stay here...it will be...difficult." He tried to explain to her this would end up really awkward.

"I don't care about anything, I want you to be here please." She pleaded clutching onto his shirt tightly.

He knew him staying back would end up in one of those very awkward situations for them. That's the reason he had stayed back despite wanting to be there with her at that moment to see and hear their baby for the first time. With a heavy heart he had refused to be with her when the doctor had told him they would call him in, and now she himself wanted him to be with her.

He knew she shouldn't be left alone right now. She had been there for him in his each moment of weakness and fear, so he should be there for her. He needed to comfort her out of this fear he had put in her himself. She had been his support always and he would do the same. This would a moment she would always remember and he didn't want her to be upset right especially if it was due to him.

"Okay...I'll stay. Only if you're sure."

"I'm sure!"

She did genuinely need him with her right now. Just his mere presence gave her a support as she tried to convince herself and his words only assured her that everything would be fine. Every time he said anything to her, she would believe it without a doubt. She felt like a small child when he was around her consoling her when she was in such an emotional state. She looked at him and he only gave her a smile...

"Now stop crying. Otherwise our baby's going to think of you as a cry baby." He wiped off her tears and she let out a small chuckle.

"You're the real cry baby! You always cry!" she finally gave him a smile.

"Well he or she doesn't need to know that right?" he attempted to lighten up the mood and asked her to relax and lay down as he brought in the doctor. As the doctor started to set up for her ultrasound, Ishita began to get nervous again. Biting her nails in nervousness and closing her eyes, she called out to him instinctively.

"Raman..."

"I'm right here." He sat down on the chair next to the bed and whispered to her while holding her hand with one hand and the other hand was now placed on her head. She opened her eyes and nodded at him slightly letting him now she was fine. He gently stroked her hair repeating it's okay whenever she would seemed slightly nervous. They stayed in the same position until the doctor told them they were all ready to start.

He knew very well what was coming up and she also realized at the moment why he was refusing to stay back. She looked at him apologetically for putting him into this situation, but he only smiled at her. As they looked at each other, the doctor moved over her saree's pallu to show her stomach. He caught a glimpse of her from the corner of his eyes. He went blank for a second as he looked at her fair milky skin as she was breathing heavily due to her nervousness and his presence in the room. As her nails dug into his skin, he realized what he was doing. This was wrong, he was absolutely wrong to be looking at her. He looked away immediately and closed his eyes to keep her comfortable yet give her his support.

She looked at him while the doctor was had started the ultrasound and was busy looking at the screen. His eyes were tight shut, his fists clenched tightly, he was uncomfortable...yet he was there helping her, being with her because she wanted him to. She tapped his hand with her free hand making him open his eyes. He looked at her with a confused look and questioning eyes...

"Raman...just keeping look at my eyes."

He did as she told him to. He kept his eyes on hers while her eyes shared her feelings and experience with him. He watched her amazed at what was happening, a glint of excitement was in her eyes which reflected in his eyes as they tried to imagine their small baby. He watched a nervous smile appear on her face as the machine went over her stomach and she looked at the doctor busy looking at the screen turned away from them. As she leaned back a bit closed her eyes, his smile disappeared...

"Is it hurting you?" he quietly whispered to her. Opening her eyes she nodded negatively and gave him a wide smile.

"Everything looks absolutely fine with you and your child. Now do you two want to have a look?" the doctor broke their eye lock. They both sighed out of relief and Ishita told her they wanted to see their baby together.

"Ishita..."

"Raman, look at our baby..." she cut him off knowing he would ask to leave for her sake, but didn't want him missing out on this moment just because of her. And he did somewhere down inside want to stay back, but couldn't put his want to see their child before her need for comfort. He wasn't sure about this, but she insisted on him staying back, and he finally gave in.

As the screen turned and the machine finally managed to catch a glimpse of their baby, they both looked at the frozen screen with moist eyes. She encircled his arm with hers and he grabbed her hand.

"Raman! That's our baby!" she told him in a choking voice as he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Ishita, that's our baby?! It's so tiny!" he looked amazed at the image of the tiny little baby in her womb.

They both listened attentively forgetting about the awkward situation as the doctor carefully tried pointed out each visible feature of their baby. They were awed and amazed as they looked the small image that was their child. The doctor asked them to be extremely quiet so they could hear the heartbeats of the baby. They both become overwhelmed with emotions as they heard their child's heartbeats.

She couldn't believe that there was actually a living breathing life in her. She looked at the measurement of the baby the doctor told them. A baby that was a few centimetres big was growing in her, its heart was beating inside her, and he was breathing in her...with her and for the first time she didn't want to hold back any emotions. She let her tears flow freely as she listened to heart of her child...of their baby.

He was just as emotional and elated as her. He had never actually experienced anything like this. He had never seen his daughter through a small screen before she was born and now when Ishita had given him the chance to live a moment he never thought he would get in his lifetime, he was overjoyed. And when he saw the small little blur that was the baby growing inside of her, that would grow up to call him dad, the baby that would be in his arms in a few months from now, he couldn't hold back the tears. He was so pleased to know the baby was absolutely healthy along with Ishita and once he heard the heartbeats of the child, he was relieved of all his worries and could only shed tears of happiness.

As they finished with the ultrasound and Ishita sat up, they were both still taken aback by the feelings they got seeing their baby for the first time, Raman opened up his arms to her and she went right into his arms. Resting their chins on the other's shoulders and thankful for the other person being there to share this moment with them, they both exclaimed...

"Our baby!" as tears ran down their cheeks. Realizing they were in a hug, they slowly pulled back. But as they looked at each other, they saw no regret on either face. Why would they feel bad about this? Today they had witness one of most beautiful moments they had ever seen. They were the parents of that baby they just saw and heard, so they had all the reasons to be happy and express that happiness to one another. As they laughed about their sentence and then smiled at each other, the doctor interrupted them once again.

She let them know everything was fine and telling them how the baby's heart was beating at a perfect rate when her assistant walked in with a crying Ruhi in her arms. Raman and Ishita let go off each other as he went to pick up Ruhi. Apologizing to the doctor and her assistant he attempted to calm Ruhi down. He pointed to the screen frozen with the picture of the baby.

"Ru, look! It's your baby brother or sister."

The infant calmed down as she found her father's arms and saw her mother. Happy to be away from the strange lady's arms, she curiously looked over at where her dad was pointing. As her parents happily kept on pointing to the picture, she joined them and laughed along with them.

They walked up the stairs to their apartment. He carried Ruhi in his arms as his thoughts were still stuck on the ultrasound while Ishita was clutching onto the folder that contained her reports and the pictures of their baby. With smiles on their face they both walked up to their front door and bumped into Vandita who was going somewhere with Shravan.

"Hi Raman, Ishita and my sweetheart Ru!" she exclaimed seeing the two.

"Oh hi Vandita!" Raman came out of his thoughts.

"You two are so lost in your own world that you don't even notice anyone around."

"Whatever!" he rolled his eyes and laughed.

"Anyways, how are you feeling now Ishita?"

"I'm okay now."

"Just came back from the doctor's?" she noticed the medical files in her hands.

"Oh yes."

"I hope all's good! And next time, please don't hesitate to ask me for anything. You two could have even left Ruhi at our place while you went for your appointment. I wouldn't have had a problem."

"Thank you so much! You offered to help is more than enough!"

Vandita walked off and Raman went to open the door while Ishita got thinking about what he had told her when he had asked to tell Vandita and Bala about the pregnancy. They really did care for her and were always ready to help in any situation. Maybe he was right about them, but she still couldn't be sure...

"Ishita...thank you so much!" he said as he sat on the couch as the maid fetched them water.

"For what?"

"For letting me stay with you and see the baby."

"It's a dad's right to see his child just like a mother gets to feed her child first. And if anyone needs to be thanked, it's you."

"Why?"

"Why?! You calmed me down otherwise I had become such a drama queen at the clinic."

"And how many times have you done the same for me?"

"So how about we don't say thank you to each other? Because honestly it will take too long and anyways we promised to be with each other through everything"

"Alright, so no more thanks yous or sorrys!"

"Very filmy dialogue Ishita!"

They both shared a laugh as they headed for the table where they were served their lunch by the maid. During their meal, they both couldn't stop talking about the baby. They both tried to explain to each other how they felt seeing the image and hearing their heartbeats. She was elated seeing his happiness as he talked about how amazed he was at the experience while he could only take in his happiness of seeing her excitement and emotional side when she talk about this ultrasound being one of the biggest and beautiful things that has happened in her life.

As their lunch came to an end, he had to leave for work. They both didn't want this to happen. He didn't want to leave and wanted to continue talking about today with her and looking at the pictures they had gotten while she wanted to continue talking about their baby together, but they had no choice since he couldn't do anything else. As he got ready for work with a heavy heart and was by the door, she asked him to wait for a minute. Taking the ultrasound picture, she put it into his coat's pocket.

"Ishita it's okay. You probably want it."

"Raman you leave your children with me all day, so I can at least give you a picture. Anyways the baby is with me 24/7. You should keep the picture. And it will take your mind off things at work as well."

He gave her a smile and agreed to keep the picture. He gave Ruhi a small kiss before heading out and took out the picture and kissed it before leaving as well.

The whole the two were busy with their kids. She did the small household work he let her like doing small cleaning jobs at home and finished off her office work before she spent the rest of her with Ruhi. They both went over to Vandita's for an hour and she enjoyed playing with Ruhi and Sharvan while talking to Vandita. And then she and Ruhi even went out for a small walk around the society garden and today she was way too happy and busy with Ruhi to worry about some stares she got from some people. She even called up her Amma and told her about her ultrasound and got a call from Mrs. Bhalla and got busy talking to her passing her time.

He other the hand didn't physically have their baby with them, but carried around its first picture with him all day. He sat in his office looking at the picture while his phone screen flashed a picture of Ruhi. He spent all the time he had between his meetings and calls just looking at his children's pictures and thinking about Ishita and everything that had happened today.

He came back home late night and found her waiting for him as she lay with her head down on the table. He rushed to her shaking her head at her stubbornness to do household things in this state. He tapped her shoulders gently waking her up with a start.

"Ishita, why are you here?"

"I was waiting for you."

"You should be sleeping inside with Ruhi. Today is fine, but from tomorrow on I don't want any of this."

"But Raman I know you don't eat well when you're alone."

"Fine I will eat everything properly if you don't stay up late nights. It's not good for you and today the way you were sleeping, it's not safe. I'm not allowing it."

"Okay fine! Now eat dinner so we can sleep."

He sat down quickly and ate just as quick so she would go back to bed once he was done. As he ate, he noticed she wanted to say something, but would back off each time...

"Spit it out Ishita, I can tell you want to talk."

"Raman...is it okay if I go out tomorrow?"

"Sure! You don't need to ask me. But just let me know when you will go and be back by because I'll drop you off if it's before work or will send a driver for you."

"Actually I'm meeting up with the person I was supposed to the other day, so they will pick me up and drop me off."

"Alright, but please call me when you reach safely. And I was planning to go out for dinner tomorrow. Is that okay?

"That's fine with me."

"Nice! Now I'll go talk to Ruhi and make sure she doesn't bother you tomorrow."

"She doesn't bother me, she's only naughty around you!"

He laughed as they both walked into their room and she went to bed as he first went to see the sleeping Ruhi and then went to the bathroom. As he came back out, Ishita was fast asleep and he thought of this to be the right opportunity to do he had been wanting to do so badly.

He slipped into bed and slowly came closer to Ishita. After making sure she was asleep, he moved near her stomach and quietly started to whisper...

"Baby, it's me your Papa. Your mumma talks about me right? Well I've seen your mom talk to you, and I want to do the same. I don't even know if you can hear me right now, but I heard you today. I heard you little heart beating today and even saw a picture of you. You're so small and cute! I only kept on looking at your picture during my breaks and couldn't wait to get out of meeting so I can look at you. I seriously can't wait for the day I will get to see you in person!"

"Baby, I want to say something very important. I love you so much. If you can hear us talking, then I'm sorry. I'm sure you heard your mom and me talking last night. Papa did something very bad and asked mumma to choose between you and your sister. I'm so sorry, but you see your Papa is very silly. I really love you a lot and want you to come into this world and my arms soon. I would never make your mom choose between you and me ever again! Promise! You mean so much to me and I don't know what happened to me that I asked your mom that, but I don't ever want to lose you. You mean so much to me. After all because you, your mom came into my life. She's really the best mom for you and your sister and she's really nice for me as well! Anyways it's really late now, I should go to sleep and so should you!"

He reached over to caress her stomach, but then backed off. He looked up at Ishita and smiled...

"Nothing will happen without your consent Ishita...ever!" with that he turned around until he remembered something and turned back to say one more thing to the baby.

"One last thing, tomorrow your mom has a very busy day, so please don't make her sick again. I know it's not really you who gives her the nausea, but please take care of her my good baby!"

He turned back the other way and smiled as he finally got a chance to talk to his baby. And at the same time she opened her eyes with a smile...
