"Liar!" she nearly screamed.

"Shhh!" I snapped. "We're in a library."

"You're lying," she said, bringing her voice down to a whisper. "I didn't beg you to kiss me."

"Not just that, but you kissed me of your own will - so I won the bet," I told her, smirking victoriously.

"No!" she said harshly. "You're lying. I don't believe you!"

"You don't have to," I told her coolly. "It doesn't change the truth though."

"Stop the joke now Randhir," she said seriously. "You come up with cheap jokes, just like your personality."

I rolled my eyes - this girl was seriously daft, why couldn't she understand that we actually kissed last night?

"I'm not joking... and I don't have to convince you of anything. Don't believe me if you want," I told her.

Then her eyes filled up with tears.

"Please Randhir," she begged, "Please tell me you're joking."

I looked at her, and felt my heart ache. Why was I feeling bad for this girl and even guilty? She clearly wasn't happy with our kiss - of course... why would she be? After all, she hated me - I was annoying for her. And on top of that, she didn't even remember her first kiss. How sad was that?

"Chill, I'm joking," I lied.

She took a deep breath and then looked up as if she was thanking God.

"You're a jerk," she snapped. "Why do you joke like that?"

"Did you see your reaction?" I snickered, "You're very funny."

"You're laughing at me?" she said angrily, and wiped her tears away. "I hate you."

"The feelings are mutual," I responded, "Now focus on this."

She glared at me and turned to look at my laptop screen... and I couldn't help myself, I looked at her.

Thirteen

"You want to follow this?" Sanyukta asked me, after reading the instructions off my laptop.

I was awakened from my reverie - I don't know what demon had possessed me to make me stare at this girl for such a long time.

"Yeah, it's a good idea," I muttered.

"I think we can do much better," she said simply.

"Oh really?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at her. "Then why don't you come up with something?"

This girl had guts to think she could do much better than I had come up with - I was rank one... I was much smarter than she could be.

"I have tons of ideas," she responded simply, and then unzipped her backpack before taking out her notebook. "But you just never gave me the opportunity to tell you."

She flipped open to a page with notes - a lot of notes. My eyes widened at the amount of writing on the page.

Sanyukta started to explain her ideas to me and I zoned out - I kept on looking at her. The way her lips moved when she spoke, the ways her eyes had that intense passion. I didn't know why I was so attracted to her all of a sudden.

Of course... I wasn't attracted... I was just being silly - something was wrong with me. I would never be attracted to period girl.

"So what do you think?" she asked, after she finished her explanation.

"Yeah, it's great," I responded quickly, then cursed myself in my head - why would I boost her ego like that?

"Seriously?" she asked me, as if she just heard the most shocking news of her life. "You called my work great?"

"I uh..." I mumbled. "I was sarcastic."

"Yeah right," she said, rolling her eyes.

I glanced down at the time.

"You know the library closes at eight today," I said to her. "We could have had another hour to work together, but you chose to show up late."

"I told you my friend -" she started.

"Yes, I know, her boyfriend and her problems," I interrupted. "Don't you think she should sort them out herself? That's between them - and here you are, stepping in between -"

"No she's my friend!" Sanyukta said defensively. "I can't see her hurt."

"If people decide to get in a relationship, then they should be able to manage it too," I said sourly. "Why even bother?"

"You're acting like you have tons of relationship experience," Sanyukta told me accusingly. "You should drop out and be a love guru."

"Then who will make your life hell here?" I asked her.

"You're so annoying!" Sanyukta exclaimed, and I couldn't help but smile softly as she got annoyed - why did she look so cute... wait... no... she looked devilish.

I frowned again and glared at her.

"Let's move to a classroom and work," I told her. "I want to finish half of the project by tonight - and tomorrow is Saturday, we can sleep in."

"Are you crazy?" she asked me. "I am not spending the night with you again."

"Okay fine, then I'll work on it myself," I told her, shrugging my shoulders.

As if I cared whether she accompanied me or not.

"No! Okay, I'll come... because of you, I have to cancel my date!" she said angrily.

"Date?" I asked her, surprised. "Who would take you on a date?"

"Sameer Mittal," Sanyukta said to me, "He's two years older than us and he asked me out."

"What the - doesn't he know you're period girl?" I asked her, for some reason, not liking that she got asked out by someone.

"Please give me a knife," she said, gritting her teeth. "So I can brutally stab you to death."

"Ouch," I said, "Okay just go on your date."

"No! I don't want you to finish the project without me!" she replied quickly.

"I won't, I'll sleep," I lied.

"I don't trust you," she said.

"Just go," I urged.

"Okay fine," she said, and then she started to pack her bags, including her notebook, but I grabbed the notebook from her.

"I'll hold on to that," I said to her. "I'll need to look it over and think about it."

She looked at me suspiciously and then sighed resignedly.

"Whatever," she said to me, and then picked up her stuff. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Wait... take my number," I said to her. "Oh yeah, you don't have a charger do you?"

"I got one today, thank you for your concern," she snapped, and took out her phone before passing it to me. "Hurry."

I typed my number into her phone and then gave myself a missed call from her phone so that I would have her number too.

"Bye," she said quickly and then rushed out of the library.

As soon as she left, I packed my bags and headed into an empty classroom, determined to finish the whole project without Sanyukta. I guess it was a good thing that Sanyukta went on a date, because now I wouldn't have to feel threatened that she would walk in at any moment.

I didn't know though, that Sanyukta would stumble into this room later on in the night and that our equation would change forever.
