Chapter 10

The next morning, I was woken by Sanyukta. She was shaking me violently.

"What the hell?" I said, as my eyes opened.

"What happened last night?" she demanded.

She was on her knees beside me.

"Nothing," I said quickly, my heart beating furiously - no way was I going to tell her that we kissed.

"Nothing?" she asked, looking at me suspiciously.

"Yeah," I responded, and tried to get up, but she grabbed my arm, forcing me to stay seated.

"My head hurts," she told me, and I looked at her like she was crazy - what was she expecting me to do about that?

"Get the door open and then maybe we can do something," I told her.

Sanyukta sighed and stood up before walking up to the door and banging on it loudly.

"Anyone there?" she bellowed.

"What the -" I said - if someone caught me here, I'd be dead.

Soon enough on the other side of the door, there was a knock.

"It's Vidhushi, do you need something?" the person on the other side said.

"Yes, open the door please Vidhushi," Sanyukta requested.

Soon, the door opened and Sanyukta breathed a sigh of relief. Vidhushi's eyebrows nearly reached her hairline when she saw me here, her face filled with shock.

"Whoa!" she said incredulously - it was like she had seen a ghost.

"It's nothing like you think," Sanyukta said, and then picked up her bag from the ground. "Now Randhir... get out!"

I glared at her, but I picked up my bag too and started to storm outside.

"Be at the library, 6 PM sharp tonight," I ordered. "Or else I'm doing everything."

"Yeah yeah," she said, rolling her eyes. "My foot you'll do everything."

"Just watch me," I threatened.

Then I shoved past Vidhushi and left the room, my heart racing... on one hand, I was delighted that she didn't remember what happened between us last night, but on another hand, I couldn't help but want more.

Chapter 11

That evening, Sanyukta showed up in the library at seven and I glanced down at my watch.

"Have you seen the time?" I asked her, raising my eyebrows.

"Yeah, I had things to do," she said defensively and dropped her bag on the table next to my stuff.

I rolled my eyes and returned to reading the research paper I had pulled up on my laptop that outlined exactly what we needed to do for our project.

"So what are you doing?" she asked.

"Why do you care? This is clearly not important for you," I retorted.

"Don't be stupid... I had something to sort out," Sanyukta said impatiently.

"Yeah... and I don't have time to tell you what I've done," I responded, just as impatiently.

"I was helping my friend," Sanyukta then said angrily. "Her boyfriend is making her life difficult."

"What? People are already dating? It's barely been a week since school started and -" I started, but Sanyukta interrupted me.

"Well... yeah... a week is a long time - the world could end in even a second!" she said, as if my statement was the stupidest thing she heard.

"You don't need to exaggerate that," I snapped. "Just get focused... and I'm surprised you have friends."

"Why are you surprised?" she asked, sounding irritated.

"Because you're period girl," I retorted. "Duh."

"I'll kill you," she said through gritted teeth. "God, I don't even know what sin I must have committed in my last life to be paired with you."

"Has anyone told you, you're very melodramatic?" I asked her.

"Has anyone told you, you're stupid?" she responded.

"I'm the stupid one? Do you even remember what happened last night?" I asked her, in a challenging tone.

"No," she responded simply. "And I'm glad I don't remember. At least the night spent with you isn't in my memory... gosh, that would be a horrible memory to have."

"You passed out quickly anyways," I said, "Don't worry... nothing happened except..."

"Except?" she asked, her eyes widening.

"Except you told me you don't have a boyfriend," I said to her with a smirk.

"What? I said that?" she gasped. "I lied!"

"Yeah right," I sneered. "Drunken minds speak sober hearts."

"Well... whatever! I just said that so you could stay away from me," Sanyukta snapped. "I don't need irritating guys like you hitting on me."

"You wanna know what else happened last night?" I asked her, deciding to have fun.

"What?" she snapped.

"You called me hot," I told her with a smirk.

"You were probably drunk out of your mind if you actually believe I said that," she snapped.

"No, I'm serious... and something else happened," I teased, enjoying myself very much.

"What?" she asked, sounding annoyed.

"You wanted to kiss me," I responded, my eyes on her face, gauging her reaction. "You asked me to kiss you...well, practically begged me... and I felt bad for you."

Her eyes widened with shock.
