Saheb and the game of thrones again
Jimmy Shergill and Soha Ali Khan in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns
After his Raja Awasthi act in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Jimmy Shergill now coming back with another hit franchise.

Jimmy Shergill who's high on the success of Tanu Weds Manu Returns in which he played the lost-in-love contractor Raja Awasthi, is now looking forward to returning as Saheb in Tigmanshu Dhulia's hit franchise, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. "Tigmanshu has been really busy with for the past one year with his upcoming film Yaara which he will be completing this month. Then, we will roll with the third instalment of the series. I already have my game face on," says Jimmy.

He reveals that Tigmanshu had the basic storyline in mind when they were filming Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns in 2013. "He has been working on the dialogue and will be done soon," says Jimmy.

Prod him on where his character, Aditya Pratap Singh, his two biwis, Madhavi Devi (Mahie Gill) and Ranjana (Soha Ali Khan) will be going and he points to another face-off. He recalls how at the end of the first film, Saheb is shot in the spine and confined to a wheelchair. His biwi takes over the empire and the gangster dies. Part 2 belied the audience's expectations of a time leap and took off from where the first part had left off with a new biwi and a new gangster.

"At the end, Saheb is framed, taken into custody, the gangster is dead and the new biwi has become an alcoholic. We'll pick up the thread of the story with the alcoholic biwi. Saheb comes out of jail and the game of deceit begins again," Jimmy smiles.

The 44-year-old actor has half-adozen releases this year, both in Hindi and Punjabi. The Punjabi films include a romantic-thriller, Hero- Naam Yaad Rakhi and Shareek, a drama which begins in 1995 and travels to modern-day Punjab. "I have three looks in Shareek, as I age from 20 to 50," he informs.

In B-town he's wrapped up Nishikant Kamat's socio-political thriller, Madari, with Irrfan Khan, Shortcut Safari, Uvaa and Varthak Nagar.

Today, his plate is full but back in 2011 when he was bedridden for a year due to chronic pain in his neck which had severely affected his spine, he'd thought he would never be able to do another film. "My career was over. People in Punjab thought I was shooting in Mumbai and here they believed I was a superstar in Punjab. But I was home in bed," he reminisces.

It was filmmaker Vikram Bhatt who dragged him back to the screen with Dangerous Ishhq. He told Vikram to cast someone else as he wasn't capable of doing action scenes. "Vikram ordered me to get out of my house and be on the set the next day. I owe him big time!" he signs off.
