| Made by actor Rani Mukherji's brother Raja Mukherji, the serial stars his wife Jyoti Mukherji in the lead role as 'Prratima'. It is inspired by the late Tara Shankar Bandopadhyay's Bengali novel Protima. Set in old Kolkata, it's the story of Prratima, a dutiful daughter-in-law belonging to the Sen household. While Prratima is her father-in-law's choice for his son Amol (Anuj Saxena), her mother- in-law Sunanda (Kirron Kher) despises her immensely. Raja, the show's creative director says, "When I conceptualised 'Prratima', Jyoti was the only choice. I knew she'd be able to do justice to the character. As for Kirron Kher, this is her first negative character." Kher recollects, "It was a very nice experience working on this show." On doing more work on TV, she is candid; "I haven't got any offers." The cast also includes Pawan Kumar, Mansi Salvi, Shishir Sharma, Sulbha Arya, Shama Deshpande, Yatin Karyekar and Nigar Khan. Earlier shown in the afternoon slot, this time 'Prratima' will air on prime time at 8 pm. The show currently in that time slot, 'Zaara - Pyaar Ki Saugaat', will be shifted to the 10 pm slot.[ Kirron Kher |
