How do we choose a favorite?

People talk about regionalism as a bad thing but is it really that bad???

I have been a big fan of Emon and his being a Bengali makes me a little proud (yes I am one 😊) Now I am rooting for the other bong 😃

How do you explain the pride Marathis feel when they talk about Lata Mangeshkar or Sachin Tendulkar? Should they not?

Shahrukh Khan and Dilip Kumar are very popular in Pakistan because they (or their ancestors) originated from there? Are the Pakistanis wrong?

As long as there is a spirit in being able to appreciate the other contestants and not being abusive, I think we should not criticize regional biases. It exists in almost everyone, only the degree is different. Also, people from big cities need to realize that a celebrity from a small town brings recognition to that place and thats also a pulling factor for so many of these contests. Hence the regional bias from small towns is higher.

well, I see no harm in showing pride for someone from your region. I was super happy when Karunya made it to the top 2 last year, not only because he was a fantastic singer, but I also was happy that a South Indian had made it so far.

However, I do think it's wrong to vote for someone above other, better contestants for regional reasons. Like, Abhishek was from Bangalore, which is where my parents are from, but I wouldn't have voted for him over Emon, Amit, or Deepali just because of that.

You are right, one should not vote blindly. But in II3, I feel the amount of blind voting is much less as compared to II2 or if you remember Qazi from FG. Prashant is in the top 2 because of great votes but also because he has a lovely voice and does show some flashes of brilliance in his singing...at times. He is not a horrible singer by any standards.

Amit is there because of identical reasons except that he has been far more consistent in his renditions so far.

idol 2 i was fan of amey , meenal , karu ... none of them was bong tooo!

idol 3 , unfortunately or fortunately the best singers r bengalis so i had to support them 😃 puja , emon and amit , and only deepali is non -bengali whom i support this time!
so i choose listening to them not for region 😃

Like I said there are varying degrees and also the small town factor. Maybe you live in a big city.

Well, with Prashant, I think that more than regionalism he's probably also made it this far because of all the cops and army voting for him....

He's not bad by any means; he's got a sweet voice and is good for someone with no training, but I think there were others who deserve to be in the top 2 more than him
