Farhan Akhtar, Randeep Hooda, Sonu Sood or Fawad Khan: Who will play Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's brother in Sarabjit biopic?

Friday, 19 June 2015 - 11:47am IST | Agency: dna webdesk

Here's a list of the actors Omung has in mind to essay Sarabjit Singh in the biopic, also starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Sarabjit Singh's biopic has been in news for quite sometime now. First, it changed hands as Omung Kumar replaced Hansal Mehta as the director of the film. Kangana Ranaut walked out of the film and it finally landed in the lap of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But while Ash is all set to play Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit's brave sister who fought relentlessly to save her brother, Omung has not selected anyone to play Sarabjit. But a source confirms, "Omung already has three-four names in mind and they are not newcomers. The movie will capture Dalbir's battle but it is not entirely about that. It is also about the struggles Sarabjit faced while in Pakistan. He will be talking to few actors and finally decide on someone in a few days."

Farhan Akhtar:

Farhan Akhtar is possibly the strongest contender for the role. Given that he's beautifully portrayed Milkha Singh in a biopic previously, the actor is expected to bring certain amount of perfection to the role. Emotional and taxing, Sarabjit's role is demanding and if Farhan gets on board, it will be one of the biggest casting coups ever!

Randeep Hooda:

Intense and rugged, Randeep Hooda is known for the elements he brings on the table and with a film that deals with power and intensity, he will also suit the role oh-so-well. However, his name has been doing the rounds ever since the film was announced. While Irrfan Khan officially released a statement, dismissing all such reports, Randeep kept mum. Does his silence give away the answer? You are intelligent enough to do the math!

Sonu Sood:

Another choice that Omung has in mind is of Sonu Sood. While the actor is usually known for his fit body and action manoeuvres, Sonu, too is a probable candidate for the same. It's not clear whether Omung has already spoken to him about the film but he is definitely in the running for the role.

Fawad Khan:

The Pakistani import who has taken the nation by a storm with his TV appearance and his Khoobsurat act, is the fourth contender for the role. Given that Sarabjit biopic somehwere hints on the India-Pakistan relationship, getting Fawad on board will grab maximum eyeballs. And we know that he can perform well! Above all of it, Fawad and Ash will make an interesting brother-sister pair. What do you think?

So here are the four probable names who might be on board as Sarabjit Singh in the biopic titled Sarbjit. The film goes on floors this October in Punjab and will release at Cannes next year. Who do you think will be best suited to play brother to Aishwarya in the film?

I think Farhan would be a good choice among these, but his voice is a turn off.

Farhan or Randeep. I don't think Fawad or Sonu would work. But not a bad selection.
I really want Farhan, I love his diction.

Randeep Hooda will be the best for the role, he has the rustic look needed for the character. His face can express suffering very well as seen in Highway.
