Producer Yash Patnaik speaks on Sadda Haq!
Your show Saada Haque completed 400 episodes too.
-When we started off Sadda Haq was a very risky show. We broke almost all rules in the book. Starting from the premise of a mechanical engineering to characters to styling to set to execution, we experimented in almost everything. There was a lot of question mark about the backdrop. A lot of people thought it will be too technical for the audience to digest as mechanical engineering will be difficult and technical. The challenge was to show authenticity without looking elitist. Sanyukta, Randhir and Vardhan were also very new characters for television. They were not the stereo types.
I designed the set myself after visiting various mechanical colleges around the country to draw elements. Picked up machines, gadgets, tools from garages and workshops. Finally my art director Arup Adhikary did a fantastic job in executing it. We decided give very real look to the set as a mechanical engineering college cant be lit up like a daily soap. So we ensured that there is no light. We shoot the show in almost real lights. Our costumes are not from television costume vendors. We take the artists to best shops in the suburbs and purchase from branded stores so that the looks are more real and authentic. In Sadda actors dont use make up. Thankfully the experiments worked.
