Varanasi is known for its beautiful mornings, spicy aloo-kachori, the gorgeous Ganga, the ghats and 'bho****ke'. And the trailer of Sunny Deol's upcoming film Mohalla Assi, which was released on YouTube a few days back, is a look at the same. Ever since its release, the trailer of the film has managed to cook up a storm on certain sections of social media, what with content which many might find objectionable.
Set in the locales of Varanasi, Mohalla Assi takes one through a journey of the colourful pilgrimage town. The goings-on at the Assi Ghat of the town is what the crux of the film is, or so the trailer would have you believe.
Providing tough competition to the colors on camera, is the colorful language used in the film. From the housewives to the lawyers to the pandits in Assi, everyone has an expletive or the other up his or her sleeve. Mohalla Assi also portrays the way firangs treat Varanasi - while the Yoga-Sanskrit acts as a facade, the actual attraction of Varanasi is something else altogether.
Based on the popular Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi by Dr Kashinath Singh, Mohalla Assi stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan and Sakshi Tanwar in pivotal roles. As of now, reports indicate that the film might hit the theatres sometime in late 2015.
