Ranbir Kapoor to step into Sanjay Dutt's shoes next year

Mumbai: A lot has been speculated about Rajkumar Hirani's biopic on Sanjay Dutt starring Ranbir Kapoor. There were reports about the film being postponed, as the director wanted to focus on his other film Saala Khadoos starring R. Madhavan. But now the Sanjay biopic is back on track and the logistics of the shoot are being worked out.
A source said, "Ranbir's films seem to be going back and forth. His other film Jagga Jasoos was to release this year, but because portions of the film have to be re-shot, he is back to shooting for that again. His superhero film to be directed by Ayan Mukerji was supposed to start this year, but Karan Johar took over all his dates when he announced Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. That film will go on the floors in a couple of months."
Regarding the Sanjay biopic, it has been learnt that the project will start next year. A source said, "It is definitely happening, but they will go on floors next year. He starts Ayan's film by February 2016, which will be a long shoot. So ideally, the biopic should begin by August."
According to reports, Sanjay will be out of jail by the end of this year. So Hirani may want to show him the final script before starting the filming process.
