"What??" he asked. "Sorry Bolo..." the loud squealing voice that came from the little brat nearly deafened Manik. He got down on his knees so that he can get a clearly view of the kid. "Kyun sorry aur kisso sorry?" he asked. The little brat folded his hand across his chest and he demanded proper apology from Manik for bumping into him. It took Manik a moment to comprehend what was going on before he burst out laughing, he laughed so hard that Cabir came running behind. Cabir stood there astonished as he saw Manik laughing his heart out, a blissful sight which he thought was impossible after Nandini left. The little kid was turning red as tomato looking at Manik's antic. Cabir ran to Manik's rescue, fearing that the kid will punch his buddy in anger. "Kya hua buddy, what have you done to make this lil fella so angry? Itna gusha... I can already feel the heat here..." Cabir asked. "Dude, this kid is demanding an apology from Manik Malhotra! This is going to be the joke of the year." Manik chuckled. "Manik, ek friendly advice toh. Never mess with this kind of chota pataka, they can be deadly. I'm speaking out of experience yaar." Cabir warned his friend. "Ok baba, I was kidding." Manik replied. Manik knelt down on his knees, held his ears, looked into the angry pairs of eyes and said "I'm really sorry young man. I didn't see you coming and I was too busy with my phone. So am I forgiven?" Manik pleaded with a cute apologetic look. Finally those angry pair of eyes mellowed down and his cute lips curved into a smile. "You are forgiven... "he finally spoke. "Phew...Thank god I'm forgiven. I'm Manik and this is my buddy Cabir. What is your name?" Manik asked.

"My name is Virat but sometimes pyaar se mama will call me Manik." he replied as he studied Manik's face closely. "What happened Virat, why are you looking at me like this? Is something wrong with my face" Manik was amused with little kid's expression. "You look like Mama's memories... "he giggled and walked away."Dude, must be one of your heartbroken fan's kid" Cabir joked and both of them walked towards to the principal's room. To their surprise, their new found friend was already in the principal's room busy playing with his puzzle. "Looks like we meet again" Manik announced. "You have meet Virat" Mr. Patel asked as he welcomed them to his cabin. "Yeah, we had a bit of an encounter at the corridor earlier. I think I have successfully landed myself in his bad books" Manik joked. "Virat has been angry young man since yesterday" Mr.Patel teased him. "His mom is away for a conference in Delhi, she was supposed to be back yesterday but her flight got cancelled due to bad weather. So he has been in the angry young man avatar since then" Mr Patel explained. "I think anger is a trademark behind the name Manik" Cabir sneered at Manik. "Virat's mom is here on her sabbatical break while she is working of her PhD. She is passionate about science and astronomy, so she is also one of the Science teachers in our school too." He added. Cabir was busy checking out the summer camp details while Manik couldn't take his eyes off the little kid. There was something about him that fascinated Manik. He was trying to figure out what was special about Virat; whether it was his smile, his anger, his mannerism or their encounter. The principal's mobile buzzed, breaking Manik from his train of thought. "Virat beta, your mama is here. She is said she has got a surprise for you at the garden so jalti jao. You must be missing her nah", the principal informed Virat. There was a glee on his face the moment he heard the news. "Mama is finally here!! Thanks principal sir, Bye Manik uncle, Bye Cabir uncle. See you later" he jumped in joy and ran out from the room. Mr Patel was also fond of him and he enjoyed babysitting Virat in his mom's absence. "The poor boy was never away from her till today, so he was really missing her" he told them. The more he heard about the boy, the more Manik was interested in him.

"Looks like there is magic in this place, look at you yaar. Itni years ki baat, you actually laughed. Thanks to Jr Manik" Cabir hugged Manik as they were walking out of the school. Suddenly Manik's steps froze as they neared the garden. It felt like his world just stopped that very moment Manik heard the voice at the garden. Cabir was shocked at Manik's sudden reaction. "Manik, kya hua?" Cabir panicked as he saw Manik trembling. "Voh hawas... Voh Nandini ka hawas..." he finally managed to utter the name that he dreaded all these years. "Manik, what are you saying? Nandini's voice? Nandini aur yahan" Cabir blinked to reconfirm that he heard it right. They both slowly trailed towards the music...

There she was, standing there like an angel that has descended from the heaven. She was wearing a white salwar, her long black tresses were dancing to the tune of her music. Her earrings were shining like stars. Her delicate fingers was gently stroking the strings of guitar, it felt as if she was stroking the cords of his heart. Her enchanting voice breathed live to his lyrics, the last song that he wrote when she was in his arms.. The very same song that he never got to sing for her, she loved the lyrics so much that she wanted a special occasion for it. The warmth from her smile slowly seeped into his body, unfreezing the senses and emotions that he numbed over the years.

She slowly placed her guitar down, gathered the kid and swirled him around. Their laughter filled the place with so much of joy. "So did you miss me? Kitna miss kya " she asked him. "I missed you so much mama..." he replied back. Finally she placed him down, "So tell me what you did when I was not around? You didn't disturb principal uncle nah? How much did you miss me?" she asked him. "Mama, catch me if you can. Then I will tell you how much I missed you" he freed from her arms and ran away from her. "Manik, ruko... You can never run away from me... Now stop hiding and come to me... "Nandini chased behind him when she tripped over some dry twigs. She was ready to fall flat on her face but a strong and familiar pair of arms caught her firmly. She didn't need to look up to recognize the hand; she immediately knew whom it belonged to.

It was the same touch that she was yearning for all this years, the same touch that never fails to spark fireworks in her, the same touch that gives her goose bumps, the same touch used to entice her, the same touch that made her lose her sanity, the same touch that calmed her down, the same touch that healed her. She just stood stunned, unable to believe her eyes. She touched his face, his stubble to make sure he was real and he flinched as if her touch scorched his skin. There he was, standing right in front of her eyes. She quickly moved away from him, straighten up and blinked a few times just to make sure he didn't disappear just like he does her dreams every day. She wanted to run into his arms, bury herself in his chest, cry out loud and hold him so tightly so that she won't lose him again. She wanted to him tell him how much she longed for him, how much she missed him, how much she loved him but she couldn't. She finally gathered the courage to meet his gaze, it was impassive. It didn't have the anger she anticipated neither did it have the warmth that she was ached for. He stood there emotionless staring at her; it pricked her even more to see him in this state.

"Manik... Tum kaisi ho?" she scuffled for right words breaking the eternal silence that was lingering between them. "Bilkul waise... Just the way you left me 6 years ago..." he snarled. Manik clenched his fist tightly to fight the gush of emotions that was uncloaking in him; she has undone the bottled emotions in him. Manik knew that if he stood there another moment, he won't be able to control himself. "Cabir, I will be at the car park." he told and left immediately without uttering a single word to Nandini. The moment Manik left, Nandini finally let her tears that she was holding back to flow. She couldn't break down in front of him. Cabir didn't know whether he should comfort Nandini or should he be with Manik. Nobody knew what transpired between them, Cabir needed to know her side of the story. They all wanted their old Manik back; and without Nandini there is no Manik.

"Nandini, tum theek hona na" Cabir's voice reminded her that she wasn't alone. She quickly took a deep breath and wiped off her tears. She didn't want to show her vulnerability neither to Manik nor to Cabir. "Yeah Cabir, I'm fine. How are you?"she asked. "Yeah Nandini, I can see how fine you are and I can also see how fine Manik is" Nandini didn't miss the sarcasm in his reply. "Tum yahan? I mean you have been in Dehradun all this while?" he asked her, prying for more insights. "Relocated myself here a year ago, I'm on my sabbatical break in India" she replied. Their conversation was interrupted by Virat, "Mama, you were suppose to catch me not talk to Cabir uncle!" he stomped his feet in irritation. "Mama???" "Cabir Uncle???" they both murmured in unison. "You know Cabir uncle?" Nandini was shocked. "Yeah mama, I met both Cabir uncle and also Manik uncle today. Manik uncle is really cool, he has same name as me and he also looks like your memories" Virat answered innocently leaving Nandini speechless. "Beta, why don't you go & get your stuffs. We will go home, I'm a bit tired" she diverted his attention before he blurts more. He nodded and happily walked towards the school to get his stuffs. Cabir was flabbergasted, "Did he just called you Mama? I mean is that your kid? You are married?" Cabir just shoot Nandini with strings of questions. "You know what Nandini, we seriously need to talk. I mean seriously talk and you are not moving away from this place until I get my answers Nandini Moo... or whatever it is now" he snapped at her. "Cabir, I understand your need to clarify things but I don't think this is the neither right place nor time. I don't want to speak anything when Manik, hmmm I meant Virat is around. And yes, it is still Nandini Moorthy." Nandini replied while she rummaged her bag for her card. Cabir finally saw a ray hope when he heard she is still Nandini Moorthy. This is my address and contact details. We can meet tomorrow "she suggested. "Tomorrow nahi, we will meet tonight. I can't wait till tomorrow! "Cabir demanded."Ok fine, then tonight it will be. Come over after 9 tonight Cabir. I should be able to settle him to bed by then." she agreed. "Nandini, I'm synching your location to my mobile, I can't afford to lose you again. Not until I get answers to my question" he told her. "Cabir, aap mein kahi nahi bagne wali hoon. So don't worry about tracking my location." she assured him. "Ek aur baat, Manik koh..." she stumbled for words. Cabir could clearly read the fear in her eyes for Manik, knowing his impulsiveness. "Manik koh kya Nandini? Agar Manik mein itna fikkar hai, toh why did you leave him?" he probed her."It's complicated Cabir" she replied. "Tum duno ka beech kab simple hota hai, hameesha complicated tah. It's ok, save it for tonight." annoyance and irritation was evident in his voice as he walked off.

There goes the next part as promised, I just hope it you will like it.😊
