Hello Guys, I am new to this forum, although I've been watching Reporters off and on since the start. I've dipped into the forum every now and then, but of late the serial has completely grabbed my attention. And today's episode roused me out of my silence to post. 😃
Today's was a fast-moving, adrenaline-driven episode. Intensity, chemistry, danger, fear, concern...a cauldron of emotions that threatened to swamp Kabir and Ananya, and held out the promise of a deepening bond forged from extreme circumstances. It made me do a little jig that the intensity I'd been waiting for has finally arrived. And Rajeev and Kritika were so sure-footed with their expressions that this episode was a joy to watch. Can't wait for what happens next.
The epi evoked very many emotions in me, but the emotion that remains is actually disbelief. Disbelief at the callousness displayed by Khalid and to a lesser extent by Malvika at the danger confronting two members of their staff and, more importantly, two human beings. Can any employer in this day and age actually knowingly put their employee's lives in danger? I just find it so unnerving that Khalid sends them off with a smile - no long scenario planning, no tension, no fear, no training, no plan B (that we know of)... no final pat on the back or extra firm handclasp, no sweat...Is news more valuable than human life? And Malvika's overarching concern is will Kabir make it to read the news on time!! Really!!
Kabir and Ananya's eagerness to cover this news even at risk to their lives also sounds a false note. Perhaps the CVs did not lay the ground for this development. But the single-minded focus on the 'news' even at the cost to their own safety is frankly unnerving.
Ananya's ignorance is defence - to an extent. I still can't believe any reporter would focus on getting 'exclusive news' from an outlaw/terrorist and willingly turn a blind eye to the danger this could put her in.
Kabir's attitude I find even more difficult to swallow - he's a seasoned reporter, who's supposedly been in this situation before, yet he allows both of them to walk into a potentially life-threatening situation with a smile. What protection could one man possibly offer a colleague against an army? With his seniority he could have banned Ananya from covering this news unless she put in place some basic caveats.
Does becoming No. 1 channel trump concern for life? I doubt this is the case in reality. Perhaps the script and screenplay need to be tweaked to strike the right note, otherwise it hints at some deep character flaws, which I don't want to see in such a promising serial. I hope the next few episodes will throw some light on this baffling attitude.
Please don't take this as bashing - I am critiqueing one aspect of today's epi, which struck a false note in an epi that on the whole I found deeply engrossing.
