Confused with the nurse training course completed by Ganga in 6 months duration I searched online and found this information. Thought of sharing it with members.Actually it is not regular nursing course. But a certificate course available in some colleges.

Unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) is a class of paraprofessionals who assist individuals with physical disabilities, mental impairments, and other health care needs with their activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide bedside care " including basic nursing procedures " all under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or other health care professional. They provide care for patients in hospitals, residents of nursing facilities, clients in private homes, and others in need of their services due to effects of old age or disability. UAPs, by definition, do not hold a license or other mandatory professional requirements for practice, though many hold various certifications. They are collectively categorized under the group "Personal care workers in health services" in the International Standard Classification of Occupations, 2008 revision.[1]

Medical Nursing Assistant

Wherever there is a need for personal care nursing assistance is provided to the patient. Nursing assistants are the caregivers who, for the most part, help patients of all ages perform the most basic day-to-day tasks. This career choice offers a vast availability of jobs, job growth, and low barrier of entry - training is relatively easy to obtain and takes only a few weeks.

Course Name Duration Eligibility
Diploma in Medical Nursing Assistant (DMNA) 1 year (2 semesters) 10+2
Certificate in Medical Nursing Assistant (CMNA) Six months

A certified nursing assistant assists in the basic human needs of the health care profession like bathe patients, feed them, change diapers or beds, empty bed pans and help patients to bathroom or toileting facilities. They are also trained to take vitals and the job can require some pretty heavy lifting when patients are ill, change their clothing or get to the bathroom.

She should have done regular nursing course later and obtained license after completing 10+2.

But how she got admission into medical college without completing 12th standard still remains a mystery. 😆

Didn't know such courses exist. Thanks for sharing.

I thought showing 6 months nursing course is a blooper. So CVs have done some research before introducing it.

But eligibilty criteria for Father Muller nursing college shows 10+2.(acc. to above info.) I think Ganga studied in this college only.

Anyhow even I didn't know about the above mentioned courses. Thanks TM for sharing.

Leave the eligibility criteria...Ganga joined the course during Raksha Bandhan (i.e in August) and came out by the time of Dussehra in September. 😆 She completed the 6 months course in just 1-2 months! Even Jagadish & Sanchi.

So Ganga was not a licensed nurse but a certified nursing assistant/hospital care attendant. But they showed her like some head nurse of the hospital.

Even though her role was limited to providing assistance to the patient
in his/her basic human needs of the health care she was shown in Operation Theatre where only licensed nurses need to be present helping the surgeon.

How will they give admission to a person into a medical course without basic knowledge in biological sciences?

Jagya surprised Ganga (before 11 year leap) that she got admission in medical college. Dadisa and Anandi congratulated her.
