In response to the article by Abbas Tyrewala posted on page 1 of this thread:
What do we have to do with business that we get bombarded with articles of how much crores a star got as his fees? How much his film made and what records it created?
Why do TV channels keep showing even predictable, repetitive films of so called Superstars and Jubilee Kumars but don't show a Naseer or Om film?
Why is DDLJ aired more often on TV than Kabhi haan kabhi naa?
Why Aamir doesn't discuss Raakh that won him National Award? Why AB doesn't discuss Alaap or Main azaad hoon?
Why when you hold retrospectives on stars and filmmakers or pay tributes to them, you choose only popular and commercially successful films?
Why industry did not give due to likes of Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak and they got noticed more on TV? Why you remember Ghayal or Betaab but not an Arjun from the same Sunny Deol?
Why some good TV shows are also abruptly taken off air? Who made the ordinary person familiar with terms like BO, budget, TRPs etc?
Who gives full page ads on front pages of leading national dailies, announcing the crores a film made?
Who started giving awards more on basis of popularity and BO than quality or merit?
Who hosts multiple success parties or tweets on crores a film made?
YOUR FRATERNITY. YES! YOU.
Don't blame us! YOU bombard us with money talks and rankings based on money!
It's like chit bhi meri patt bhi meri! I gloat over crores my film made, if it's successful. But I cry a river if its losses are discussed!
And please stop mentioning Parinda, AAA and Jaane bhi do yaaron with BV! Those films were made on shoestring budget. Especially Jaane Bhi do yaaron. NFDC funded it. Others didn't even give it a chance.
None of those films was as hyped as BV was. BV has been making news even before its cast got finalised.
There's no escape from reactions and post mortem if the makers themselves build such hype.
Other small, cult films never had such hype. Their makers didn't go around saying it will sure shot make money.
You get your Anurag experience as you like. But you can't dictate public on what experience they should have. Or judge them if they do not like that "Anurag experience".
Even many Kashyap fans didn't exactly like it. So time for self introspection perhaps instead of writing such blogs about others and pointing fingers at the audience?
As public we watch films to de-stress, escape, get entertained or to relate to. Many of us don't even know names of banners or filmmakers. So please stop this bullshit about the Anurag experience. You're not doing a favour to us by making films. You decide whether you're making films for us or critics and fraternity. If you target us then keep in mind, we want value for our time and money. You're not bothered about our experience. We are not supposed to bother about yours either. None is doing a favour to the other here. You do your thing and let us do ours. By writing such articles you're not going to earn sympathy or extra brownie points from us.
Next time don't put ads on accept awards based on crores you made, if you don't want everyone to discuss money.
