Writers have had their scripts stolen. Actresses have been used and then declared mentally unstable by media and coterie of bigwigs. Talented lyricists and music directors have had their lyrics and tunes stolen.
People are shameless enough to give pompous statements, build wrong expectations, mislead audience and then bash the same audience as frustrated, faceless lowlifes if their films fail.
Twitter and current media is nothing. Check out interviews of old stars and filmmakers on Cineplot. You will know how pathetic their attitude is, towards own colleagues, films and industry in general and towards audience.
I agree with Grounder. When countries go through pathetic times audience turns to more escapist fare. This explains popularity of only mythos in early days and popularity of rubbish in late 70s and 80s (times of Emergency, insurgency in various parts of the country etc).
But that's just one reason. Exceptions are always there in any era. Though they are far and few in between.
Most people enter this field for glamour, moolah and power only. Doing good work or maintaining certain standard is not a priority. Even TV guys have attitude. You can only imagine how smug filmi ones would be.
They have zero credibility and responsibility.
