They aren't misusing government funds. As per Wikipedia, all employess working for Darjeeling mayor's office and the police force have donated a month of their salary for voting Prashant. But you are right when I say this - The mayor, Mr.Tikri himself has donated Rs 10K and this money in fact came from the goverment's wallet.

But one question, Sony also feels that Emon/Amit deserves more than Prashant. (Please reply if you want me to justify this). Why they don't intervene in the final result? The brand Indian idol will get more recognition if a more deserving candidate wins. But why didn' they intervene in II2 last year and made Karunya as the winner ?
