After watching yesterday's episode I wonder if

1. Gulkand really wants to provoke Payal into action or

2. Gulkand's behaviour is about maintaining power/ controlled over her in laws.

The other side of the coin is Gulkand wants Payal to speak and defend herself as she don't want her to get involved in Prasad family's trap and hence she's provoking Payal. Payal's character doesn't lost its charm, she's just trying to adjust with truth knowing the consequences after truth revealation to her family and society norms!
