After Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Sony TV is gearing for another out-of-the-box storyline with their new show, Ambar Dhara. The show revolves around twins joined at the hip, who grow up in the mountains. For all practical purposes, they are two different entities with different aspirations but share the same body. Trouble begins when their mother passes away and one of the twins aspires to be a singer. To pursue her career, she wants to come to Mumbai. Thus begins the Siamese twins' journey in life, with twists and turns.

The show, produced by Siddharth Kumar Tiwari and Vikas Seth of Swastik Pictures, will feature two newcomers. Apparently, the new actresses, tied at the hips, are finding it a bit inconvenient to shoot. The show is being shot in Panchgani.

Mona Ambegaonkar is playing the mother of the twins and Paintal is playing the adoring grandfather. Viju Khote essays one of the key characters in the show. The rest of the cast includes Shweta Gulati and Harshad Chopra.

Mona Ambegaonkar says, "I am playing the mother in the show. Both the girls in the show are new. I cannot reveal anything about the storyline as I have been told by the channel not to do so."

Ambar Dhara is touted to be Sony TV's TRP grabber even before the show has settled. It is said that two directors have already left the show midway.

According to a well-placed source in Sony, "First, it was Hemant Prabhu, who was roped in to direct the show. But, he left it after the pilot and the second one has already quit the show. Now, the channel has roped in Bhushan Patel to infuse some energy in the show. Directors are really apprehensive about the subject which is first of its kind on Indian television. However, Sony is leaving no stone unturned to make it a successful show."

When contacted, Hemant said, "Yes, I shot the pilot. But, I left the show for some personal reasons. I don't know who is doing the show right now."

they always do this...think of new ideas (or steal them) and then once the show starts getting a lil interesting they change the entire concept into something stupid....

How can you say that? Sony realises that thier shows don't click during the weekdays. However this is the only channel that is trying to make an effort and present unique shows. Zee and Star both have saas bahu shows, which is in demand but there are people out there who want something different. This is what made Jassi click and it recieved a huge response.

I agree that the serial is quite different and ahead of it's time for Indian Television audiences....

Yes, its a true fact that saas-bahu family sagas are in huge demand by the public which is why Zee and Star clicks... but since this is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SHOW...Sony would've made a smart decision by replacing it with Indian Idol on the weekend slots after the II 3 ended....if the TRPs increase of the show in the weekend slot they could've then made it a daily soap...I think that by making this a daily...the channel is takin a huge risk... 9pm is when Kasturi airs on STAR and some other SB show airs on ZEE...so....lets see what happens!

Ye, I see what you mean. During the weekend this show will get a greater viewership. On Zee @ 9 Kasam Se Airs which is very popular. Plus Kasturi has gained a lot viewership (Ekta Mai - what do you expect?), so this show will have a shaky start but if it clicks then Sony will have a good chance to compete during the weekday slots. I can see a deep in viewership if this show starts on the the weekends and is shifted to the weekday slot.
