What is this thin and thick voice?!

Hey guys, i have been hearing for quite some time on Indian Idol where some contestants are said to have thin voice, and some thick...wat does it mean? I mean ppl are saying emon and sonu nigam has a thin voice, in wat sense is it called thin? Then whose voice would be called thick...please tell me, i am confused 😕!

Basically on Indian Idol it is called pathla and mota aawaz! What does it mean!

i think thin voiice iz wen its not dat deeep & manly...
but its more soulful... like sonu nigamz voice...emon's..kunal ganjawaala..lucky ali..
thick voice iz deep & manlyy..like udit narayan..amit paul...kishore kumar

A thin voice is like a young guy's voice. Sonu, Shaan, Karunya, Abhijeet Sawant all have thin voices.

Thick is like heavy manly voice like what Udit, Abhijeet, Babul Supriyo, Kishore Kumar have.

Thin is a voice that gets squeaky when it hits high notes. A thick voice maintains its depth even at the high notes.

I don't think that's right. There is nothing wrong with having a thin voice. Sonu has a thin voice but doesn't sound squeaky in high notes. Thin voice just means a guy's voice not manly and deep. Both voice are good.

In general..Girl's voices are thin, and Guy's are thick.
So, a young guys voice are sometimes thin which matures with age.

Shubha Mudgal has a thick voice, but Lata has thin voice.
Ankita has a thick but Deepali a thin voice.

Hope I am right in explaining. Correct if its wrong.
