Gabbar Is Back is had a very good start at some places and was decent in other places. Overall the opening was good at around 40-45 %. It is the best opening for a Hindi film this year but that is not saying much as hardly any films have opened. The occupancies are less than Fast & Furious 7 and The Avengers - Age Of Ultron but has more screens than those films.

It is the best start for an Akshay Kumar starrers in a long time. Much better than films like Entertainment, Baby and Holiday though the last named film picked up rapidly from late afternoon.

The opening was best in Rajasthan, CI and UP while the big multiplexes in metros have just average start. The film has released on a holiday which is why the opening is good but on a holiday the opening should be excellent or bumper. The first day number will be good for Gabbar Is Back but the opening morning numbers don't suggest a 15 crore nett plus number which was the requirement for the film due to holiday for May Day.

Gabbar Is Back has managed the best opening of the year as far as Hindi films are concerned but if we take into account its a holiday then the opening is not much better than Roy. It is the single screen start that has is basically the difference between Gabbar Is Back and Roy. Below are the average occupancies in morning shows and just six films have gone over 20%.

1. Gabbar - 40%
2. Roy - 32.5 %
3. Badlapur - 27.5%
4. Baby - 25%
-. Tevar - 25%
6. Ek Thi Leela - 22.5%

Note - The openings do not reflect the opening day collections as films drop through the day like Ek Thi Leela and others like Baby pick up steadily.

today its aholiday in most places and only 40 % as opening lower than hollywood release and bollywood deal with it like ahistoric

Bollywood needs to get its act together. No a single blockbuster and we are into the second quarter of the year. It is quite patheic to be honest.

Just three hits in Badlapur, NH10 and DLKH for an industry that gives out at least a movie every-Friday is shocking stuff.

Fast 7 is the first 100 core movie and Avengers can follow suit to be the second.

NH10 is Semi-Hit, only 2 Clean Hits. Furious 7 will end at 93+ Cr, couldn't touch 100 Cr, still biggest Hollywood film of all time till date, Avengers has fallen badly on Weekdays, will finish in between 70-80 Cr, more or less.

So now it's basically on Salman Khan to give Bollywood It's First BUMPER OPENING of the year.

Bombay Velvet will have an opening of 15 or above. That would be bumper alright.
