The post is apt. If we consider the grey-shaded or somewhat weak female characters of this series ...
Bindiya, the nauch girl, is the femme fatale of this series. She is cunning, shrewd, having ample presence of mind, courageous, (over-)confident, perseverant, bold and knows how to use her beauty to her own gain. Aiming the throne, she is trying to defeat the Thakur men, majority of whom consider women as mere objects to be used as and when needed, in their own game by going to any extreme (read back-stabbing and murder) !!!Rekha Thakur, an ever-cribbing, extremely greedy & manipulative and cunning woman. She is as well trying her level best, in her own ways, to combat the Thakur men by trying to break the unity of the house.Vimla is an extremely regressive thinking woman, until very recently. She is the perfect outcome of enduring a life in an absolutely male dominated world, in mute mode. She is timid to the extreme, abides by whatever her husband orders, irrespective of whether right or wrong and subsequently tries to infiltrate the same negative thoughts in her daughter's brain as well.

Now the positive characters ...Poonam, as a result of being surrounded 24*7 by an ever regressive thinking mother, an ever-detesting father and a sadistic would-be-husband, has grown up to become an extremely shy, timid and absolutely mute girl, with no vertebra of her own; surrendering her every wish and happiness to cruel fate. Once she has been relieved from the burden named "being engaged to Lakhan", she has become a free soul who wants to live life to it's fullest, who can talk, who wants to fulfill a series of small wishes like every other normal girl of her age.Maya is in a situation which is even worse than Poonam. She very well knows about her husband's colorful exploits outside of their marriage. Her husband even boasts the same. But her hands are tied. She has been, for years, enduring and eventually swallowing all these humiliations, pains and threats silently for the sake of her two very young children and in-laws' izzat.Guddi, nothing much has come out yet. But seems she is quite a strong and free-spirited girl with intelligence and yes, a very sharp tongue. She is courageous and confident enough to call a spade a spade. She is a rebel in the making (but with a cause), if she is given enough opportunities by the creatives.P.S. I am really hoping for a face-off between Maya/Guddi and Bindiya in future.

Last, but not the least, two Grannies ..
Chhoti Granny - not much yet. She seems to be almost an assistant to Badi Granny and yes, she has got, though a very feeble one, but a voice.Badi Granny has taught her sons that in order to survive in a jungle, they have to learn the rules of the jungle and how to play with the guns. She herself very well knows how to do that. Though she is not being traditionally taught, but is an english speaking and a very progressive-thinking lady; who rules Thakur-household with an iron-hand by merely sitting on a chaarpai. Though recently she has not been able to control her two super-egoist elder grandsons, but her son Phulan Thakur always consults her before taking any big decision. She is cunning, shrewd, courageous and confident enough to create a niche of her own in an absolute male dominated world and has been instrumental in being able to hold the same for so many years.
