When the couple got engrossed in the rehearsal, playful Ella, just a three-month-old pup, swallowed pills kept in Amita's bag. An airhostess by profession, Amita was unwell that day, so she was carrying a few medicines with her. She says, "I was a little unwell, so I was carrying a few paracetamol tablets. Both Vikas and I were busy practising, while both my kids (read dogs) were having their share of fun. I don't know how she managed to get the tablets out." Amita noticed that something was wrong with the pup when she became sluggish. Almost drowsy, she kept bumping into things. "Ella keeps running about from one corner to another, so nobody noticed when she ate up all the tablets. Later, we saw her bumping into everybody around and behaving very strangely. Both of us panicked and contacted a veterinary doctor. It was about three in the morning when we took her to a hospital," she adds. Ella's vet was in Australia, and the couple had a tough time searching for a doctor at such an odd hour. "After a long search, a doctor came to our rescue. We did not sleep that night and were by her side. Thankfully, she became normal soon. I have become more careful with her now," says Amita. |
