I will skip movies that cost less than 50 crs to produce because there will be too many otherwise. In other words, i will open these polls for big movies only.

The next big release after Gabbar is Back is Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar and K K Menon.

Production companies: Phantom Films, Fox Star Studios

Distributed by Fox Star Studios

For Bombay Velvet, fair amount of information is available to make boxoffice projections.

Production cost range: 110-120 cr

Distributer buys at: 130 cr (prediction)
Distributor cost range after promotion and other costs): 145 cr (15 crs can be expected to be spent for BV promotions. e.g- for Tevar, 10 crs were spent )

Satellite rights and music income: 20 cr (projected)

Money to recover for Foxstar at this point: 145- 20 cr= 125 cr

Theatre owner (exhibitor) payments: 20 cr (projected)

Money to recover for Fox to break even: 125+20 cr= 145 cr (approx.)

Profit starts at: 146 cr (approx.) this gets down to 135 cr if the production budget is 110 cr and 125 cr if the budget is 100 cr.

Buzz- negative

Opening day- big opening possible, Ranbir Kapoor has fanbase next only to Khans, Hrithik and Akki. Fluctuates in the range above/below Ajay Devgan.

No guesses from me..not even the opening.

I think makers are more worried about selling the film to the distributors..we just got trailers 3 and 4(fifi too was like a trailer) in a span of few hours.
Exhibitors too are keen on Hollywood action films especially franchises..Mad Max is no FF7 but still,producers seem to be trying to woo them with for more screens..

2nd trailers are not for the public,unless just a teaser wasreleased before or a trailer was released 6 months or more earlier...who outside the forums or those who follow twitter accounts would know about it..

The film is looking good now..but good reviews and WOM is important..

Foxstar is both producer and distributor of the movie. Phantom is co-producer.

Selling the movie to the exhibitor (theatre owners) is difficult given foxstar's reputation and duds till now

Voted for the lowest numbers 51-70 though I wouldn't be too surprised if it hit the 71-90 mark. Too much negative buzz at this point, and the trailers aren't helping at all. The biggest news from whatever little promotions Ranbir is doing is that he's in love. And if the movie is over 2:30 hours then forget it.

Obviously none of us know for sure, but I would be very very shocked if it breaks even.
