Shot in the dark: Actor refuses to promote film until he gets paid
This A-list star is miffed with the makers of his upcoming release over non-payment of his fee. A few days ago, he held a meeting with the film's director and producers, saying that he wouldn't associate himself with the promotions until he is given his due remuneration.
Says a source, "The actor called for an emergency meeting with the makers and asked them to clear his payment at the earliest. He has even called off all the major promotional events until they honour their commitment to pay his fee."
The makers are said to have spent a fortune to make the film and are now struggling to pay the actors. The director and producer are blaming each other for the budget going overboard.
"The production house has already paid the director the amount for which it bought the film. Now it's the director's turn to release the actors' payment," adds an industry source.
