7 Bollywood movies that would be ruined by technology

KARACHI: Movies like Race and its sequel Race 2 wouldn't be the same without the James Bond-esque gadgetry that form an integral part of the plot. Other movies would simply have fallen apart had technology even as basic as a mobile phone been available at the time.

Here's a list of seven hit movies that would just not have been possible if the characters had access to the technology that we have at our disposal today.

1. Darr

The entire movie revolves around Shah Rukh Khan's attempts to stalk Juhi Chawla's character Kiran - the trademark line "K-k-k-Kiran" striking terror in her heart every time she picked up her phone.

Kiran could have completely laid her fears to rest by engaging her mobile phone operator's call block services:

2. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

In this movie, Aishwarya Rai's character Nandini is forcibly married off to Vanraj, played by Ajay Devgan. Her heart, though, is still with Sameer, played by Salman Khan. Vanraj flies Nandini off to Italy to reunite the two, moving on to Budapest, Hungary from there. The rest of the movie revolves around the dead ends and roadblocks the two encounter in the process.

The entire second half of the movie could have been completely eliminated with this simple exchange of texts:

3. Kal Ho Na Ho

Priety Zinta's character Naina falls in love with Shah Rukh Khan's character Aman. Aman, however, is suffering from a terminal disease and successfully throws Naina off his trail by telling her he is in fact already married. A heart-broken Naina then finds solace in her friend Rohit, eventually marrying him.

A bit of Facebook stalking would probably have disclosed the truth about Aman's marriage much earlier.

4. Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!

In this 1994 blockbuster, Madhuri Dixit falls in love with her didi ka devar Salman Khan. The beloved didi slips down a flight of stairs as she races to answer a landline phone call that she believes to be from her husband, dying of a head injury as a result. The movie takes a turn from then on, and the two families decide to marry off Madhuri Dixit to her late sister's husband.

Now imagine how the movie would have played out if Madhuri's jeeja jeehad only texted his wife on her mobile instead.

5. Baazigar

In this movie Shah Rukh Khan's character is dating Shilpa's character Seema using the name Ajay Sharma, and Kajol's character Priya using the fake identity of Vicky Malhotra. The story begins when Seema and Ajay elope, resulting in Ajay pushing Seema off a building and prompting Priya to investigate her death.

Seema's life could probably have been saved if the two - who played sisters in the movie - had simply figured out they were dating the same man, and both had dumped him.

6. Finding Fanny

This movie begins when a letter Naseeruddin Shah's character Ferdie Pinto sent to his girlfriend Fanny is returned to him after 40 years. Ferdie had proposed to Fanny through this letter, and on receiving no reply Ferdie had spent the next 40 years assuming that Fanny had rejected him. When Ferdie realizes that Fanny had never received the letter, he sets out on a journey to find her and ask for her hand in marriage one more time. The plot of the movie follows the various adventures Ferdie and his entourage of colorful companions meet along the way.

Had Ferdie simply texted Fanny, the entire plot of the movie would simply have been rendered redundant.

7. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge

The love story began when Raj and Simran miss their train to Zurich and are separated from their friends. They travel together to catch up with them and end up falling in love in the process.

What if Simran had managed to text one of her friends about the situation she was in?

HDDCS: You need a number to send text ! The kindda break up! no one leaves their international mobile numbers !
KHNH: People do lie on fb accounts especially relationship status!
HAHK: If she texts She wont ever in her life use stairs??
Baazigar: Was he even dating them at the same time? Cant he have an obscure FB profile pic??
FF: Text msgs are not delivered so many times as well !
DDLJ: Her friends knew she was missing despite the text ! They did not wait !

Even in this day and age sometimes it is hard to find people...there are people who are not on the web in any form.

But it has definitely become easier with most people on facebook, linkedin and on other web sites...and many yellowbooks are also online so it's very easy to find an address if you really want to...and there are sites such as pipl.com that pretty much gives you a laundry list of all the places you lived in. and once you have a location, you can take a look at the location on google maps! And you can also always ask a friend of a friend or just tweet your query to the world and who knows who may see it :-)

So true

Stalkers often use burner phones, pay phones etc to make their calls.
People may not leave numbers or even change numbers
I know so many married people who put single on FB and vice versa.
She could have died any other way.
Even today there are players who date multiple women. They have no social media presence or cleverly post pics of only friends, objects, celebs, but not themselves.
Or could be accidentally deleted by someone. Moreover, a love note is usually written by someone who is afraid to say in person or make a phone call. Even in today's age he could choose to write a letter instead of text.
The DDLJ excuse is a big bogus. Even if she could have texted friends, the story would have taken place. Oh go on I'll meet you in Zurich. Oh bummer, I'll have to meet you Bonn.
