Chapter-31
Helping khushi into the car, Arnav was just about to hop into the driving seat when he was reminded of something or rather say someone, the morning fiasco lingering in his head. Pondering for a moment or two, khushi looked on as Arnav shuffled on his feet, clearly immersed in deep thoughts, a habbit of scuffling when debating over an issue that was so very him. She smiled when eventually he seemed to arrive on a decision and take out his phone to dial his manager. Once the call connected, she heard him bark out orders in his typical ASRish way, all traces of her Arnav gone.
"Aman, call the board of directors for an urgent important meeting and inform them on my behalf, that the issues related to the partnership between me and Miss Sameera Rathod, has been resolved and we, no longer wish to separate the company. "
Arnav's voice was calm reminiscenting his usual demeanour, though he keenly kept one eye on her, anticipating any reaction and sure enough, there it was. A beautiful smile blossoming over her lips even as her eyes widened in amazement. He knew she was feeling extremely proud for his decision of forgiving Sameera and giving back her rightful place though only professionally. He had atleast raisen up the bars of thoughtfulness and considered her efforts to unite them which, according to her, was a big victory in itself.
Sensing her adoring gaze, he pulled her onto his lap, hugging her close, placing a soft kiss on her head. Feeling her snuggle up more comfortably, he kissed her again and gently started stroking her hairs with the free hand. They had already spent hours chatting and talking things out, clearing every seeds of misconception that could have possibly been there. They were now content with the outflow of events, as it eventually had led them to discover love. The twists and turns, dint matter nor did the schemings as long as they were together. And if someone had taken mighty steps to redemption, it was only natural to forgive them with all our heart and move on.
Aman, on the other hand, was for once, finding it difficult to agree upon his boss's views regarding forgiveness and penitence.
Koi mujhse pucho what all I had to undergo in these last few hours. Itna aasan nahi tha, convinving the board members, listening to each of them dishing out all sorts of crap with utmost patience, handling event the most insignificant of staff, contradicting the rumours ascended by the press, hustling the suspicions as to why Sameera mam was not present in the office and had flown away to London, assuring the clients associated with and future projects in the best conceivable way and NOW for all that I had been through, mujhe kya pata chalta hi? The bloody split isn't even happening! My boss, for god knows what miraculous reasons, has suddenly changed his mind aur meri ab tak ki saari mehnat gai paani me. And if this isn't enough, he thinks he has done a great deal of job at forgiving, well...hymmphh!!!
He was itching to go and on about the unjustness of it all but since it was THE boss on the other side, with hell lots of difficulty he controlled his obstinatory tongue from releasing a series of curses at this high-handed and taken-for-granted approach of his dear boss and questioned as neutrally as possible. Given his blasted set of mind at the impending herculian task of imforming everyone once again about the apparent change in plans, this was incredible!
"Sir, so can I inform the Sighanias that Sameera mam would only be dealing with their project? " People would take him for some supernatural creature (an angel of sorts) for behaving so calm-facedly, but Aman knew better.ASR pe nahi bhadak sakta, naukri chali jaaegi. Biwi pe bhi nai, woh maayke chali jaaegi. Waise acha hi hai magar phir khana kaun banega? Nahi nahi, biwi pe gussa cancel, aur waise bhi sub-ordinates kab kaam aaenge?
So finally it was to a bit mollified (And eager to find a perfect scapegoat for all his frustrations) Aman that ASR responded in confirmation, "Yup go ahead and draft the final proposal on Sameera's name. I want her to be full in charge with no involvement from my side"
Before Aman could stop, the question had slipped of his mouth, "But why sir?"
Arnav smiled at khushi, tightening his arms that were still around her, wondering what to give for an appropriate reason. He knew Aman will dare not question him back no matter what silly excuse he would hurl upon him, but for once, Arnav decided to be considerate enough lest the poor man tries to kill himself out of curiosity. Decidedly, he went with the truth.
"I am on an official leave Aman," Pausing for effect, "for my wedding!" Winking at an open mouthed khushi he cut the call to shut her tempting mouth in the best way he could.
Much, much later (since Arnav, the bestie had completely transformed himself into Arnav, the lover who couldn't stop kissing khushi and eliciting delicious moans from her, which wont be the scenario at home, he knew), the couple detached themselves and finally began driving towards home where the entire family was waiting for them with glances eager for their visage and breaths bated in hefty excitement.

Same time, at Shantivan,
Shweta literally was chomping off on her nails, unable to contain her curiousity anymore. "That manager I tell you, Duniya ka no.1 stutterer hai woh, ek baat bhi dhang se kahi hogi toh. "
"Shwetu, itna tension mat le, sab pata chal jaaega bas un dono ke aane ki der hai" Anjali tried to calm her, feeling sad for those poor nails that were unnecessarily getting sacrificed. Yes, the whole family was now aware of the truth and was happy at the prospect of Arnav and khushi accepting their love for one another, though they couldn't be completely sure. Where those crazy nutshells were concerned, kuch bhi ho sakta hai..!
After nearly half an hour, Anjali looked up at the sound of a vehicle screeching through thre main gate. The others too stopped in their respective tasks of decorating the mansion, their eyes sparkling at the prospect of witnessing a pleasantly surprized khushi's face breaking into pure adulterated joy on finding the amount of efforts her family had underwent to turn her comeback as much grand and welcoming as possible, and to have Arnav smiling smugly looking at all the arrangements with proud beaming eyes. They had held their breaths as the footsteps neared when to their utter disappointment, the entrant turned out to be Sameera.
Sameera walked in slowly, knowing well that nobody wanted her here. Nearing the living room, she restrained herself to stand by the corner, her eyes lowered on the floor. Even though she knew she had gone out of her way to mend the broken ties, somewhere it still dint felt enough. The hurt that she had caused to the entire family was far much greater and if she was true to herself, couldn't be compensated in this lifetime.
A few moments of awkward silence, delimiting the earliar cheerful atmosphere, passed when Arnav's father cleared his throat addressing directly to her, "Sameera, I have always treated you the same way as khushi. We all gave you so much love but you only pretended to love us back, showed fake enthusiasm for doing homely jobs that no one was even forcing upon you, acted to like being with us. You were actually unhappy and everyone here knows why. I won't say that my son wasn't as fault. He definitely was. He shouldn't have committed with you if he couldn't love you, if he couldn't bear you asking him to change his lifestyle, alter his priorities and give more importance to your relationshop. But even then, it can't justify what YOU have done with khushi."
Sameera: Uncle...
"No beta, let me finish. We know that you are truly sorry and have tried hard to make amends but that wont erase the hurt you have caused to our khushi. That wont help us forget the way you have broken our trust. That wont change the betrayal Arnav got from you. So, I am sorry to say but we cant forgive you. Atleast not until Arnav and Khushi does. If they feel that you have repented yourself enough, we would welcome you back in our world but till then, I don't want to give you false hopes" Arnav's father spoke firmly, careful enough not to sound too harsh.
Sameera half smiled, feeling so regretful to lose such a wonderful family for her own stupidity. They were deeply hurt yet they were trying hard not to show how much. Anjali was one step ahead as she tried to console the poor girl whose one mistake had cost her, everything.
"Don't worry Sameera, khushi have a big heart. If she wouldn't have forgiven you already, she would when you will ask for it. "Anjali tried to make her feel a bit better and she was even succeeding in it but the very next moment, her husband ruined it all.
"Haan kukko to maaf kar degi magar Arnav..."he had his own concerns, half of which remained unheard thanks to the timely acknowledgment of the daggers his wife was shooting towards him.
However, what Shyam started, Shweta continued. "I hope tumhaare letter ka kuch asar hua hoga uspar Sameera but I am not sure. He was about to..." She trailed off letting the silence speak for her.
"He was about to what?" Sameera couldn't stop herself from asking. She was anxious, feeling an unknown fear invading her senses.
Shweta took a deep breath. "Break the partnership with you"she completed much to the shock of everyone except badi maa. Though they knew Arnav had claimed to broken all ties with Sameera in every sense of the word, they weren't anticipating him to actually implement it. Atleast not at the cost of his business.
Sameera was least shocked amongst them all. She knew Arnav would do that, he was too upset and deeply wounded to stand her presence even in the office. But it still hurt to know that Arnav hated her so much. That he was ashamed of having her in his life. That he regretted meeting her. That her betrayal was so overpowering, their friendship had no stand against it.
She closed her eyes feeling hot tears trail down her cheeks. Regret and remorse filled her entire being with a vengeance. She wished, she could go back in time and change all the wrong doings but it was forever going to be remain just that, a wish.
She was so busy in her musing, she dint heard the honking of Arnav's car as he impatiently waited for the front gate to open. The lost happiness of Shantivan was finally back home.
