ll The Perfect Dinner ll
-ooo-
It was almost 9 pm and our families still haven't arrived yet. I stood front of the mirror as I fixed my hair; it was tied up into a high ponytail. I didn't really want to dress up but Blake yelled at me, saying, 'You have to.' This guy, I swear, what the hell is his problem? He was a complete mess today. After arguing with him like never before, he finally allowed me to wear my regular clothes - skinny jeans and a black tee.
I don't want to see my family. I don't want to be with them. All I want is to be alone, not with Blake either, just alone.
Knock. Knock.
I heard a knock on my door. Oh his highness is finally ready. Opening the door, I was face to face with a messy Blake Aspen. Trust me when I say messy. His hair stuck out all over the place. He was wearing his gray sweatpants and a white tee, with that annoying scowl on his face.
I raised an eyebrow at him, after checking his messy-self out.
"I don't know what to wear!" he whined like a little girl. I couldn't help but laugh at his whining. He made faces, while I LMFAO-ed away.
"Stop laughing! It's not funny!" he whined once more, stomping like a girl into my room - well his ex-room.
I somehow got a hold of myself, "And what exactly do you want me to do about it?" I asked in between my chuckles.
"Aren't you a girl? Help a husband out!" he said flopping down to my bed.
"Oh my, I'm a girl?" I ask with a shock, "I had no idea!"
He rolled his eyes, "Not in the mood for you sarcasm, Lilly Pad."
"Not in the mood for your whining, Blakey," I mocked as I stood front of him.
"Woman!" his voice rose a bit. I placed my hands on my hips at that tone of his, "Just help me out, okay?" he pleaded, "Please?"
My eyes widened, "Oh my, oh my, did Blake Aspen just say please?"
Oh gosh, Satan knows how to beg. This should be fun.
He looked at me with a straight face, "Seriously Lillian? I have a soul..."
Do you? Do you really have a soul?
I chuckled, "Ok, ok I'll help but..." I left the sentence dangle.
His eyebrow rose in return, "But... what?"
"But... I want something in return," I said casually.
"Okay...?" he said a bit unsure, "What is it?"
I was quiet for a while, "Promise me... you will never cook... ever again!" I said, "Like Taylor Swift's song we are never ever, ever getting back together, except for you it's, you're never ever, ever going into that kitchen!" I sang with a broken voice.
Blake didn't say anything, he just stared at me dumbfounded to the point that it was starting to scare me. I took a step closer, waving my hand before his eyes.
"Hey... Blake? Did you fall asleep with your eyes open? Or did my amazing singing skills purified your devilish soul?" I ask holding in a laugh. However, what happened next amazed me.
He laughed. He laughed... He freaking laughed!
Today's date shall be recorded, 'The Arrogant Satan smiled, whined like a little girl, and laughed!' I am dreaming. Yup Lil you're definitely dreaming.
"That's what you want?" he asked in between his laughing moment, "That's seriously what you want?" he continued laughing and I did absolutely nothing to stop it from happening.
Oh my god, is he going to die out of laughter. Wait, is this his way of sending me to jail? I bet the newspaper headline will be, "Husband died laughing at his poor wife!"
"Umm... yes? I would like to live for couple more years. If I ever have a death wish I'll make sure to send you to the kitchen..." I said slowly.
He chuckled, "I promise, matter of a fact, cross my heart and hope to die."
I smiled, "Good Blakey, and you know..." I began as I stood closer to him. He was still on the bed, "... you don't look that bad of a mess...," I pause, "Like if you fix the hair maybe..." My hands immediately moved through his hair. His soft damn hair.
The hell, what shampoo does he use?!? My hair isn't even close to being this soft and I am a girl.
I felt his hands snake around my waist pulling me closer, as I try to un-mess his messy hair. Trying to ignore the tingles and weird feelings forming in the pit of my stomach, I finally make his hair presentable.
"There you go," I mutter while he looked at the mirror behind me.
"I still look like a mess," he frowned.
"A hot mess," I say without thinking.
He looked at me with a grin wider than Cheshire the cat, "I knew you found me hot, Lilly Pad," he winked.
I could feel my face burning up once again. "And the cocky-ness begins..." I say dramatically, moving away from him to hide my face.
"Just admit it," he teased making me roll my eyes.
"Whatever makes you sleep at night Aspen, whatever..." He was about to say something, but the bell decided to ring.
Oh yay family time! Kill me.
Blake got off my bed with his hands in his pockets, "Let's go," he said walking out of the room to the door. Sighing and already wanting this to be over, I follow him like a lost puppy.
He opened the door, and there stood our families. His parents and my parents with my older brother Caleb. I guess he doesn't have any siblings. As they came inside, I stood there awkwardly. It was my first time meeting his parents in an official way, during the wedding, we barely got to see each other. Walking over to them, I greeted them politely, showing I have some kind of manner. They smiled, greeting me back with a hug, something that I didn't expect from his parents.
I forced a smile towards my so-called-family, and hugged my idiotic brother. "Is Blake feeding you too much? You're getting fat," my brother joked, or at least I hope he did.
I hugged him tighter, I knew what his joke meant. He missed me. "I missed you too, Caleb," I said with a small smile. Pulling out of the hug, Blake and I lead everyone towards the dining room.
We all sat in a semi-huge circular table that Blake and I never use. I sat beside Blake, already dreading for this dinner to be over.
As we start eating, "So Lilly, how are you? Is Blake giving you a hard time?" his mother asked sweetly.
I smiled, "Oh no, not at all. I'm actually fitting in here quite well."
"Awe that's great," she said eating her food, "Blake, why are you dressed like you're homeless?" I almost spit my food out as I heard his mom say that.
Listen lady, he looks fine the way he is!
I could see Blake stiffening, "Umm, I didn't have time to change..." he murmured.
"Why?" asked his dad with a British accent.
So Blake is Half-European. No wonder he's so cocky.
"Uhh... he was helping me cook," I say quickly before Blake could reply.
"You cooked?" my mom asked shocked. I sigh internally knowing where this was heading. "You never cooked before," she shook her head, "And the times you ever cooked, you ended up burning the food."
I wished for the ground to open up and just take me inside. "Maybe because you never taught me and was too busy watching those stupid dramas," I snap.
"Oh you watch dramas? Which ones do you watch?" Blake's mom said out of nowhere.
My mom turned towards her, "Oh I watch Korean dramas," she said almost immediately.
"Me too, it's so much better than the American ones," my mother-in-law agreed.
I'm seriously regretting getting her into Korean dramas, I knew she couldn't handle all the awesomeness.
"Exactly, did you watch boys over flower?" my mom asked like a hyped teenager.
"Oh my gosh, yes!" teenager number two replied.
"Kill me..." I muttered, feeling the need to slam my head against the wooden table.
My mom gasps, "What else did you watch? Heartstrings is a must!"
"Mom," I say sternly, "I hope you still remember you are married with two kids, and one who got married recently. Can you stop fangirling about Korean dramas!"
"Hey you're the one who forced me to watch them!" my mother replied.
"Yeah but I didn't expect you to go all gaga on them like a teenager, for God's sake you're in your forties," I tell her the harsh truth.
"That's not very old, she can fangirl about her favorite shows anytime she wants, Lilly Pad," Blake said out of nowhere.
I glare at Blake while my mother was filled with happiness since Blake said she's not that old.
Gosh he's such a kiss-ass.
"See Lil, I have the right to fangirl as much as I want," my mother said a little too proudly. I looked over to my dad who was watching my mom, probably thinking, 'Who did I marry? Why did I marry?'
"So Caleb anything new with you?" Blake asked my brother, which honestly shocked me.
"Nah, everything is the same and boring maybe a little more boring since I don't have anyone to bug anymore," Caleb said a bit dramatically.
I was awestruck, "Awe, you miss me a lot, don't you?" I tease.
He shook his head, "Whatever floats your boat. What about you, Blake?"
"Other than marrying your slightly crazed sister, nothing really," he shrugged.
Slightly crazed?
"Excuse me, did you just call me crazy?" I shot daggers towards Blake, who looked completely unaffected by it.
"Ahh... Slightly crazy," he corrected me.
"I don't care, you just called me crazy!" I mean sure my mother and rest of my family might be crazy, but I'm on the normal side.
"I was just joking, Lilly Pad," he was not joking. That stupid smirk said otherwise.
The nerves of this pig-headed-Arrogant Jerk.
"How's work going, Blake? Any new accomplishments?" my dad asked Blake more interested in him than he ever was in his own daughter.
"Work is going very well. We are enclosing a deal that will profit our company at least 62%," Blake replied with a smile.
"Only 62%? I still believe we can do better than this," Blake's dad said.
"Yeah, but 62% is still good," Blake argued.
"It's good but not great," his dad said sternly.
I'm starting to like my dad more... maybe. I heard Blake sigh in defeat, as he mumbled something under his breath. I think his dad caught on to what he said thus giving him a dirty look.
"I got a job!" I quickly say not wanting a father-son fight to happen in my dining table.
Your dining table? Didn't know you took it as your own, my thoughts taunts me.
"You got a job?" my brother asked shocked, "what kind of job?"
"I'm studying nursing. What do you think my job will be?" I snap at his dumb-self.
"I thought you would work in McDonalds," he said casually.
"Yeah well I'm not. I am a nurse in LIJH and in couple of months, I'll be one of the head nurses... hopefully," I said with another forced smile.
"Wow you're finally not as useless as I thought you were," Caleb said.
And degrading Lillian begins, yay.
I rolled my eyes, "Will you ever be nice to me?"
"Will you ever stop rolling your eyes at me?" he retorts.
"No."
"That's your answer."
"You're annoying," I tell Caleb, "So how come you two don't live here with Blake?" I ask my in laws.
"Because someone refuses to live with his parents," Blake's father replied to my question.
"I'm sure he doesn't refuse to live with you two," I tried covering up for him.
Wait why am I trying to cover up for him?
"Oh no, they are right. I do refuse to live with them. I prefer to live a life without suffocation," Blake corrected me.
What the hell? Does he not know how to lie to his parents? What kind of a childhood did he have?
"See what I mean?" Blake's dad said shaking his head in disappointment.
"So... anyone up for desserts?" I ask before this got any more awkward.
"Sounds good," everyone agreed.
"Honey, help me out?" I ask in a loving wifely tone. He looked at me confused while I shot a glare. Sighing heavily, Blake got up and followed me to the kitchen.
I stop in middle of the kitchen with my hands on my waists. I turn back and instantly meet his deep brown eyes that can melt anyone. Somehow snapping myself out of it, "What the hell was that? I was covering up for you and you ... ugh!" I say frustrated.
"Why were you? I never asked you to save my ass!" he shot back.
I scoff. "Seriously? This whole day... you practically made me go crazy and having to make everything perfect! And when everything is going anything but perfect, you have the nerves to tell me that?"
This guy is seriously testing my limits.
"Well clearly whatever I do, is never perfect for them! So why bother with it?" he says a little louder.
I hold back whatever I had to say and look at him carefully. He's on the same boat as me, though, never expected that.
Blake Aspen has parental issues. Who would have thought?
I sigh, "Look you saw how my parents and brother are, and they don't expect anything from me. I am just a useless piece of shit to them..."
"Yeah... I saw," he said with a sad smile, "Mine, however, expects too much from me. It gets suffocating you know..."
"Hmm," I nod with a small smile. I am understanding Blake a little better now. He's not as ignorant as I thought he were.
"So are we going to back bitch about our parents here or really going to get the desserts? I'm still hungry thanks to you," and his ignorance is back.
Too soon Lillian, way too soon.
"You ignorant prick," I mutter as I pick up the tray full of pastries.
"Hot ignorant prick," he corrects me winking. My cheeks turned pink almost immediately.
"Shut up and let's go," I mutter once again hiding my face and getting myself out of there.
Going back to the dining room, where everyone was busy chitchatting normally. Our moms still fangirling on Korean dramas, while dads and brother talked about work and sports.
I place the pastries down on the table, and everyone seemed to like them. The rest of the dinner went with me finally joining our moms in the korean drama talk because I couldn't help it when they were talking about Lee Min Ho, the guy who I initially planned to marry.
Blake and his dad argued couple of times but it went back to normal pretty soon. The long dinner finally came to an end and I was so happy. They stuck around for a little longer talking about stuff I didn't really care about. Soon enough it was time for them to leave.
Blake and I walked them to their cars bidding them goodbye. We stood there in utter silence, it was a starry night.
"Your mom is crazy," Blake finally broke the silence.
"And your dad is a control freak," I retort.
We stay quiet for a while and broke out into laughter just thinking about how weird and crazy our respective families are.
Well wasn't this a perfect dinner...

Author's Note:
I do not know what I just wrote.
I am backkk! Yes, yes, I know. I am late. Reaallyy late. But I was going through some stuff, which are fixed now. So you will be getting regular updates! I made this chapter longer than I anticipated because I was updating late anyway. This is legit 7 pages on word. So it was my sorry gift-ish, I don't know. Anyhow, I hope you liked this chapter! In this chapter I basically wanted to show you guys their relationship with their family members.
There's a good chance the next chapter will be the 2nd thread of this. Which I am excited about, because LilAke (Yes this is the name I am sticking to, you, however, can call them whatever you desire) might have a special moment. If you know what I mean, *wink* *wink*
This chapter is dedicated to VANI (PinkPenguinxo), because she said all my updates are perfect and that made me so happy!
Also, I have posted my writing gallery, so be sure to check that out if you didn't. And I made my own FB page for all my writing, so like that page as well because sometimes I might be running late and won't have time to PM anyone of you. Therefore, will just post the link there or just put the whole chapter there itself. Who knows...?
