Shaad- flawed yet the righteous man.

After going through the heated arguments on the forum I watched QH after a long time, ie, after the twin swap. I really loved this fresh character Shaad.
QH has always been about real life relating characters and not holier than thou characters. That's the one thing got me stuck to QH almost 2.5 years back, after losing track here and there QH always got back on the track by getting in the fresh more easily relatable characters ofcourse Tanveer and Sanam2 are unholier than thou characters 😆
QH was always about those characters who we deal in our day today life, be it orthodox yet gentleman Asad, impulsive, at times immature yet fiery, level headed Zoya, sensitive yet strong like a steel Dilshad, manipulative, selfish yet can do anything for husband, daughter Raziya, irresponsible yet golden heated Ayaan, proud yet selfless, generous Ahil, reserved yet righteous Rehan. Sanam is one character that was almost flawless and may be that's why I couldn't relate to her much, it seemed like more of fictional heroine type character than real life one for me.
But then QH is well known for butchering all it's beautiful creations, but again writers get bored of butchering at certain point and decide to take a leap and get new characters. After butchering season 1 characters, there came fresh characters in season 2, Ahil and Rehan were the intriguing and best crafted characters of season 2, after butchering almost all characters( may be except Rehan's), season 3 came in and Shaad seems to be a fresh, well designed character of this season.
A army man, strong exteriors where emotions, attachments take a back seat or get buried down. Committed to work, passionate about mission, persuasive. He takes a calculative move when he comes across Jannath, a move which according to him, according to border peace treaty is a right one. He feels the move doesn't harm anyone, hence it's a win-win situation, a amnesiac woman who also happens to be the witness for a dangerous terrorist's identity gets protection, gets a place to stay safe and by this the army too has a important witness in hand. Fair enough.
But in all these he errs, and makes that woman believe she is his wife, it was fine when she was attacked and there was very short time to think of anything else to save her from the mob.
But he carries on with it as the situations get complicated, his unwanted marriage gets canceled because of this fake wife, he is benefited, he is happy at that moment but his conscience makes noise, but then things get complicated and with time he finds himself a companion, a friend, a person to share his grief, he has never experienced the warmth, care from someone before and this fake wife does all that.
He likes it but his conscience awakens him, what if she is someone else's sunshine, companion, lifeline! He gets the hints of it from her actions, now he decides to take her to where she belongs, where someone else loves her more than anything else.
His duty, his mission, a dangerous terrorist everything at one side and this lost woman one side. He cares, he cares for his country, his neighbor country, he cares for his mother's morherland, he cares for this lost woman who is slowly bringing a new sunshine in his life, he cares for her so he wants her to be where she actually belongs.
A man with a conscience is a human, a man who listens and acts according the conscience is a righteous man.
Shaad is flawed, he had gotten selfish(nationfish may be a better term LOL) when it came to his mission, his motherland, his mother's motherland and chose them over searching the real identity of a lost amnesiac woman. It is selfishness, lie for a family, for the loved ones of that woman, for her but it's a fair thing when it comes to the peace of two nations, the lives of citizens of two nations.
Also now with the news of new avatar of Ahil, I am interested to watch QH again if it gets a real engaging story henceforth. Hope KV's demand has infused some sense to the rigor mode writes.
I am guessing that Ahil too will lose his memory or may be partial amnesia and forget Sanam and this Sanam 2 as his wife and lead a normal life with her being a businessman, Shaad will get Sanam here after finding about her real identity but Ahil won't recognize her. May be then it's Shaad who will unite both by uncovering all the truths. Most likely Shaad will fall for Jannath/Sanam in the course.
It's giving me all Dilwale movie vibes, Sunil Shetty, a police officer unites Ajay and Raveena's characters by uncovering all the truths, in the course of uniting them he falls in love with Raveena and feels completed after uniting her with Ajay. I really liked his character in the movie and felt so bad for him.

That's a good write-up on Shaad, even though I do not agree.😆

But I am here to defend not Shaad but my fav Sanam, whom you wrote off as fictional, unrelatable...😃
BRB.. in a few minutes. just saw that I have a meeting

Thanks 😊
I expected my opinion on Sanam will cause some debate 😆
However I have clearly mentioned that Sanam is more of fictional and unrelatable to Me
I haven't generalized it, different people have different opinion and mine is that. Sanam's character after being Mrs. Ahil Raza Ibrahim is not relatable to me except may be few instances, before when she is was just miss daabevali I could relate to her well.
Since it is a post about Shaad, I didn't dwell much into explaining my complex liking of Sanam.
Let's talk once you get back from the meeting. Have a nice time 😊

Alright, in that case I shall not dwell anymore into Sanam. I liked Sanam until she met Seher. After that her relatable good characteristics were transferred to Seher. but I shall drop this here.
On Shaad- I haven't watched much since his entry since he looked like regular nice guy without spice. who does wrong things but does it so innocently that it is never acknowledged in the story.
I have no judgement on him yet, since my focus is only Sahil entry
I think you will have a good time on this topic, since you have worded this well without being condescending...good luck. I am off😊

I like your write up and perspective! You have talked about the character and admitted his flaws. As well as good. No white washing! You have also acknowledged that he let the lie of Sanam being his wife continue for his Mission and also to get out of marrying Misbah. Both calculated choices that had nothing to do with caring for the health of this perfect stranger. He initially lied to save her. Then to save the information she had. Nothing more nothing less! He is not a bad man, but not some "Plaster saint" either. Also, you are the FIRST person I have seen make a post on him, who has not compared him to Aahil as a means of "defending his character and actions!". So for that alone, I will give you a lot of chops! Because Aahil has nothing to do with Shaad's character or choices and is in NO way relevant to the discussion at all!

I will not go into the nitty-gritty of what Shaad is doing and why. How it will effect amnesia riddled Sanam and her future. I think the writing is on the wall for all to see. Her having lived with him as his wife in his home and his room will effect her status in society when it is revealed that they are not married. Also, Tanveer's daughter being Shashi Kapoor has also detracted from the serious nature of the criminal that Shaad and his colleagues are searching for. It has almost trivialized it, by making this 21 year old girl this mega terrorist! I wish they had thought more of that! The motives he has may be good, but the methods are flawed and will have far reaching consequences the longer the lie stands. The way things are now, I feel he is totally "Trapped" in his own web of lies. It's inevitable. He does care for her now. So things will only get more complicated. Not less. Let's hope the makers have some "Good" plans for him, and not turn him into some sort of caricature like "Faiz" because they are TOO lazy to come up with something better! I wish for something much better, weather I continue to watch or not!

Now Sanam. I always loved her! But I agree with your statement that Sanam has been shown as "somewhat saintly". But we both know she was not always like this! "Miss Dhabewali" whom we saw at the start of Season 2 was NO saintly character. She was feisty and independent and gave as good as she got. She was never intimidated by rich and arrogant Nawab Aahil! Pre or post marriage. It was only after she started to fall for him, after his accident saving her Badi Ammi, that she started to soften and change. (Not that she was hard before. But she was always so no nonsense). I also feel like Minnie, that Sanam's character got "diluted" to make way for Seher. They wanted to show their contrast, so gave all the funky attitude to Seher and tried to turn Sanam into this TOO good girl! She was never afraid of anyone, but suddenly was seen as needing street wise Seher to save her from her cruel Mother in law! So in THAT sense, I feel they messed with her character. However during Tanveer fall it was Sanam who beat up Tanveer, and not Seher! Her old personality came out for a bit.

Jannat is not exactly like Sanam, Seher or even Zoya. She is sort of a mixture and a bit confusing. I dont know how long she will last, but I do miss Sanam a lot. She always had this calmness about her, and I think that is why Seher always called her her "Achcha Bachcha!" :) I personally miss seeing the sisters together as well, and hope for a return of both eventually after Surbhi gets a break from double role. But once again! Good post and very balanced views. The kind I appreciate!

Flawed, yes. Righteous, no. See that's exactly the problem. Instead of showing him as an overall good guy who's flawed and one who made a calculated wrong decision and then has an attack of conscious, the attempt is that he's righteous man who's made some wrong decisions and having an attack of conscience.
There is a difference. No man who's doing what he's doing can be called righteous.

Now coming to what he's doing. Yes, he has thoughts that he's wrong for doing this. He has thoughts that he should find out her past and her whoever she 'belongs' to. But the way he acts overall is not condusive to the situation. He should be more careful, more reserved, keeping more of a distance. Instead what's happening is that he is not really observing any of these things. Things are going on all fine and dandy in that house. Sure, people put them in situations like Walima, Dawat, etc etc, but he goes along with all of this as if it's no big deal. He continues to behave and act with Jannat as he should not be. And allows Jannat to act with him as she should not be.

Even if he's stuck in all these situations, the execution does falls flat in carrying it out.

Anyway, in short. Flawed. Yes. Righteous, no. Because if he were righteous, we wouldn't be having the discussion on his flaws and actions right now.

Beautiful write up...👏
I don't have many issues with Shaad as he is now...
Flawed...👏..Exactly. For the first time there are no comparisons made here...he is what he is, as a character.

Righteous...Probably..Not given it much of thought...Because ...from what I have seen, none of the side characters in QH had their story reach the potential...I am scared to waste time thinking up their story, knowing how lazy the writers are.😳

As for future: I doubt Aahil wil forget Sanam. So, will wait for the show...would love it if the lies start building up...and suffocate Shaad and Jannat. Loved what he said yesterday👏... galti hi thi...Confessing to his crimes...and again masking it...one of the few applauseworthy moments left in this show.👏 Want to see how far this Galti will go.😳

And on Sanam- I disagree with everyone on this forum😆. She just matured...in the course of the show..she grew up...because she had to...for the sake of the husband and sister who refused to.😆

Yes, she laughed less...hid her tears...👏..showed amazing strength of character...all because she had to make sure she held on to her end of the junoon...❤️
